WHY PEOPLE ARE QUITTING CS- A Discussion

Honestly I used to LIVE on cs when I was a kid and the only reason I fell out of it, was because I grew up, got a job, and just didn't have the time to play like I once did...

I do think some new additions to the site would be nice. If there was a game page, with stuff similar to what they've included in this year's summer event, that'd be fun! But if you get involved in an art community, a writing community, something. I feel there's still things to do. I just don't have the time to do it anymore 😅 and a lot of the friends I made here, have also grown up, and we talk off site now

I think if games like animal jam and webkinz and neopets were still relevant, cs would be more relevant to the youth. The closest I can think of modernly would be like lioden and flight rising, but they're aimed at a slightly older player base, the community and site layouts etc reflect that. The game play can be enjoyed more individually and with other players - again through mini games and such, but they have monthly events and things. Not just around holidays

I think some updates to keep things fresh and inviting could be nice. Give existing players something to check out. But a lot of it, from my experience, is just people growing out of the game

The internet is also a different place for kids today than it was 10 or 15 years ago

I never was a huge trade except during events but the pet economy was always whack, even back when the Rares list existed. And then that got devolved
I think if we could adopt 2-3 pets from the pound that'd be nice. Or adopt a pet per opening rather than once every 24hrs, I rarely even see it open as it is though.

I would not want my account wiped if I wasn't active for x amount of time. Nor my username. That'd be gut wrenching and just discourage me from coming back at all, honestly. I like being able to leave for months when I'm busy and know my collection and profile will all be here once I have time and energy to come back. If I didn't want my things, I could've given them away a long time ago :(

A daily login bonus might be fun? Ik CS doesn't have a lot of different currencies, and idk how that'd work with items or pets....and some people don't even care about collecting items. But maybe a random ultra common-common wl pet, and rhen a few days in an uncommon-rare wl pet, if you log in so many days in a row you can get something better? Idk how you'd space that to where there wasn't TOO MANY valuable pets back into the player pool tho

Maybe log in every day for a week and yoy get to roll for a random rare+?

i know they'd never do this, but i feel like having a dec18 box with one pet every day until christmas (and on christmas you get like, 5 more dec18 pets) would be a pretty nice idea?

I think this thread is interesting and I agree that there is some discussion to be had around what keeps people on/makes people leave CS. I haven't read all that's in this thread yet, but just as a general statement based on personal experience, there's not much that keeps me returning to the site regularly (as someone who does not post on the forums that much/create art). For a casual collector, there aren't many motivators to return to the site multiple times a day/week except for adopts at the beginning of the month, and holidays. I would personally advocate for any discussion items/suggestions that lean toward giving more appeal to showing up on the site consistently.

Upon trying to post this actually, there's already a couple people discussing the difficulty with returning & there not being much motivating people to stay on long. So yeehaw! Seems like my thoughts aren't in the void :>

honestly lost the person who said this, but considering the pound has almost near a MILLION pets, and they only release around 1k each opening? come on. im not mad, but.. come on lol.

i wasnt around for the pound event, but they should do one every year i feel like. the pound account has more than enough pets to give away 50k pets a year. also, YES, more pound openings, and less time waits.

they could also host more community driven giveaways/daily spins using pets the pound account has.

Maybe a HUGE pet flush every two years where they have a massive pound ( maybe half of the current stock ) where you can get as many pets as you want ( maybe 1 pet every few mins, like the giving tree in fur villa? )

good concept, maybe not as many pets unless they have the stock to do so. but yeah! 1 pet every now and then instead of getting only ONE every opening would be helpful, and beginner friendly. also including more high-value pets, even just more pets each opening would be nice. considering how quickly the pets gets taken and how hard it is to get a rare or above, since people insta-click, not saving time for others.

Trades have always been a nightmare but I started learning what to avoid. Long rule lists, demanding or restrictive rules, people who say friends only with everything open. Basically if there's a ton of pics and a code word and entirely wordy I now avoid. But that's a user thing.

Trading feels much easier now even if worth is entirely subjective.

Older events were easier because I had more time to play and no life token gathering every 20 minutes. I feel if they had put a limit of tokens on say a 24hr cycle where people can collect up to 20 tokens every 10 minutes then it snaps back to 20 or so it would make it easier for me to use the time I have available in a way that keeps the playing field even or achievable.

I have a lot of positive feelings for the devs because a lot of this is user oriented and led. The list wasn't their fault, they are not required to be and in fact would be less tolerable if they were stricter with their rules

Leave names alone, it's selfish to go, "I want that one" I was highly inactive and frankly frequently rejoin other games that trash my old username but find it hard to re-establish myself and my identity simply because life is life. Games aren't meant to be 24/7 center of your life, and big respect to cs for not following that trend xp

agree with the names, that seems more of just a frivolous want than actually needed site change ^^;

Hear me out. This is a collectors game. The goal shOuld be to...collect, and, realistically, complete a collection. But as stated here and in multiple similar threads...some pets are just...*impossible!*

I totally agree! Specially with so many pets being released with just 1 per person. I missed day 1 of the camping event and doubt i'll ever be able to get the owl and squirrel from that day. :/

I've been on this site since 2012, and I just want to remind everyone that at the end of the day, it really isn't that deep. They added a suggestions forum, they give us monthly updates, and more. The chicken smoothie admins are a lot more integrated into their playerbase than most adoptable pet websites. They keep us in the loop the best they can. This is a game. Everything here is pixel pets and items. What more are you wanting from them? I'm sorry that the trading economy sucks, but that's nearly ANY game you play. You arent entitled to get the pets you want. It took me almost 10 years to get the full set of Halloween pets, which was my biggest goal for a long time. Patience brothers.

Have you guys seen how active it used to be in like 2015? do me a favor and go to the dressup challenges, and scroll all the way down to the year 2015 and click on one. HUNDREDS of pages of dressups. Nowadays its nowhere even close to that many active people. I think that since there's such a lack of things to do, people just get bored. You can adopt pets, trade, post in the forums, but that's pretty much it. They have their annual events yeah, but the time in between the events, cs is dead compared to when events are going on. I'm not sure exactly what, but some type of interactive things should be added just to give us some more things to do. Otherwise the cycle is just going to continue and cs will slowly die out. And trading is an absolute nightmare. I dont even wanna get into that topic
