i’d love to see smaller events focused around items ^_^ like, they wouldn’t be summer event level or anything, just a week or two with new items you can get through banner tokens maybe. something that wouldn’t put too much pressure on staff, but would still be engaging!

there could be a floral+plant mini-event, a plushie one, an effects/bg one, one for dress-up items for/compatible with certain pets (like, items compatible with spiders, rabbits, monkeys, chickens etc, bc most only tend to work with canines and felines). y’know? that’d be cool :^)

I do agree with this tbh, maybe just more events in general so there isn’t as big of a gap where the only thing to do is wait for monthly’s to grow and try to get trades

i definitely have to agree that one of the main reasons this site has started to slow down is because of the current state of trading, you dont want to spend as much time on a game when one of its main gameplay features is consistently tedious and difficult to get into. but obviously that relies a lot on the players, theres not much staff can do and anything they can do has been mentioned a million times already. things like fixing c$ inflation and rereleasing pets have been run into the ground lol. for the record, im not opposed to rereleasing store pets, but i dont think any of the potential ways of doing it ive seen mentioned so far seem feasible. i wish there were a way to rerelease them that was limited enough and respected their increased value, but i dont think i have any suggestions that could work. also i actually love the idea of doing raffles for monthly pets. i think that with how much the site has grown having only dec 18th for rereleases doesnt keep up with the current economy.

i dont think there should be more events, that wouldnt be fair to the artists who would now have a much larger workload for a site theyre volunteering for. there shouldnt be dailies/login bonuses either, cs is a very casual game, and i dont think theres anything necessarily wrong with that. thats why a lot of people like it even, i certainly enjoy knowing that if i miss a few weeks on this site or even months im not going to completely fall behind. you shouldnt try to compare cs to games like flight rising, they just arent the same, and thats ok. cs is always going to be a bit slower and (it should be) slightly less challenging. if someone wants a more involved virtual pet site that has rare items worth hundreds in virtual currency then they have plenty of options. cs has a different audience, and it shouldnt try to be something different.

personally i think one thing that people could work on now that could make a difference is reviving the forums. i was just recently thinking about how no one ever seems to post outside of oekaki or the trading forums anymore. i know that forums in general are falling out of fashion but id love to see them make a bit of a comeback here. i remember back when like the general sections actually had discussion in them lol. there are a lot of sections that rarely see posts anymore and barely move for weeks. if people actually used the forums more that might encourage people to come back to check on them.

I still think there is some pretty good activity on CS since this thread was made not even 48 hours ago and has over 300 posts And when I think about all the user-made adoptables and how many times there are outcoming litters that disappear within seconds of the post...I would say there are very active parts of community in some way
And each of these user-made thread also have events, games, other activities and BREEDING! So everything you guys have been suggesting, asking for was already confirmed from the admins as they let us do whatever we want...I don't know what more to want really I am just grateful there are lot of artists in staff that still make new outcomes, have like UNLIMITED ideas which I don't get xD And do this so everyone who comes to this site can adopt everything for free! Nobody has to spend a single coin for any pet and it is just up to you getting store pets for real money I take it as supporting the staff, nothing more.

What on earth does it even mean when people say 'store pets aren't part of a collection, they're just bonus pets'? If you open the archive right now - yknow, the site feature used to track your collection - the store pets are there. They're just as much a part of the collection as UR pets & event pets are.

You know what ISN'T a part of the collection? Custom pets.

Yes, store pets ARE things you can only get for C$, something some people bought with real money. The idea of them being raffled is 'unfair' ( but let's be honest - how is it anymore fair that you paid 20C$ for something 10 years ago and now ask 20,000C$ worth of pets for? ), so why don't they get re-released in the store for an inflated C$ price. If that were the case, it would both combat C$ inflation by having another place to spend C$, and if the prices were higher than the original prices, the people who originally bought them would still be getting the better deal.

A large part of why CS is no longer fun ( for me ) is the selfishness. People are cruel in trade messages, people expect disgusting amounts of overpay for pets, people are cruel to hoarders. I have quit multiple times over the years because the things I want to obtain are just utterly impossible, and it's because there are like ... five users who genuinely care about others, and the rest seem to be here solely to get the most out of their pixels.

I made a friend years ago because they pulled a sunpup from a re-release box & gifted it to me after seeing me venting. That's it. I was given one of the most expensive pets in this game, for no other reason than they wanted to make a stranger happy. Do you see stuff like that happening anymore?

Everyone arguing against store pet re-releases is doing it solely for selfish reasons, and there's just no way around that. There ARE ways we could re-release them that doesn't cheapen the 20C$ you spent ten years ago ( and let's remember that that's not even 5USD, lol ) & allows other people to have the chance to enjoy this game; think about why you're so against other people having things you have.

I thought about the TD versus RR issue as well if store pets were ever re-released. That would definitely become an issue; however, I think a great fix for that would just be adding some logic to sort pets by archive. One of the main reasons I prefer true date pets, and I'm sure others feel similarly, is because they sit with their other littermates. Some people even try to find re-releases of litters from the same year just so they can sit together in a group.
If this kind of logic was created (and believe me, I have no idea how difficult it would be to implement), then it would definitely lower the demand for true date pets to some extent. There will always be the collectors who prefer to have the true date even if they sat with their littermates, but it would at least lower the demand a bit for true dates versus re-releases.
This was brought up in another thread, but I feel it is relevant here as well.

I think your suggestion would help somewhat, but not enough in my opinion. True-date culture is just too far ingrained in the trading community. TDs will still hold a ton of artificial value, since they're "cooler", along with lower IDs. Adoption dates are displayed under pets, and I know it would turn into people not liking random dates mixed. (I mean, unless they made it optional to display dates I guess.)
Nothing will ever make the TD mindset change, only band-aid fixes.

I don't see anyone suggesting they be free. Just a single click raffle, and if you win, you get a link to a selection of store pets for purchase for the same amount that they were originally sold at.

This isn't a good idea at all. It would just cause a lot of upset because so many people wouldn't win. And the same amount they were originally sold at? What a great way to completely tank values, because even if only 100 people won, of course every winner would pick the skelebun, liontails, and cerberus dogs.

Eldemore had a store-pet re-release box. I remember it not going over as well as staff had planned. A couple posts from Eldemore (their "Stone of Random"): x & x
It looks like you had to spent $20 to buy their re-release, which was a gamble. There were lots of moderator posts asking for players to be civil, which I can only assume lots of posts ended up being removed. These kind of releases will never work out.

Store pets are CS' "limited edition" thing, and I never understood why somehow it's different here? Every game has a limited something. It's been mentioned several times how unfair it is to go back on a promise, even if that promise seems outdated or "unfair". (When it's truly unfair to the people who originally bought the store pets to begin with.)

MEANING - if you collect all the 2022 pets that are out now but not a single store pet released, you still get the "achievement" saying congratulations, you have collected all released pets in 2022
So whoever wanted full collection of all CS pets, doesn't need a single store pet for it!

Exactly. @ereshkigal Adding onto this, the archive literally says when you click on store pets "These pets are bought with C$ in the store, and are considered to be bonus pets outside of the normal collection."
People aren't just saying it, ChickenSmoothie themselves explicitly says it. It is something to seriously consider when commenting about this!

Honestly its really hard to make friends on here, Idk why some people are really nice and some arent... Kind of isolating on here low key idk why. I want to rant more but idk what to say. lol
