Although it is true that you can just tick the messages and delete them, I really find it quite annoying I have to every time I trade a Pound Pet away. I hear and know all about how it's frowned upon and discouraging to trade away Pound Pets, but just because I adopt pets from the pound and sometimes trade them for pets I want more doesn't mean if I was to adopt a pet in real life I would hand it over to a stranger for another pet I liked more -.- I believe I'm correct in saying these are just pixel pets, not real life animals people adopt and trade away (for those who do).

there's already a way to make it so that they're automatically deleted and won't be seen :)
nickjr's post on the first page shows how to

Yes, I know how to and already have done it, but I'm saying why I found the message annoying before I set it up to automatically delete them. Thank you for your concern.

.....
Yes. They are just pixels.

Scenario: No school, No job, No family, No friends, No money/space/time for a live pet, No life, Not a sociopath (able to emotionally connect).
Question: Who/what will this person create an emotional attachment to?
Answer: Imaginary pets created by pixels.

Question: If X perceives Ys behaviour as harassment, is it harassment? What if Y thinks they are joking? Is it harassment then?

Bullying is bullying, whether 'real' or perceived.
The difference between a 'nudge' (reminder) and a 'shove' (punishment) is subjective.

(I support the suggestion, I'd prefer the bullying be removed completely. If it's against the rules to trade a pound pet, make the rules clear and then enforce them.)

While I understand the intention of the pound and why the message was made, I have to agree that it is pretty pointless and annoying. If this suggestion was to completely remove the messages from the site, I can certainly see why people would disagree, but because it is being proposed as an optional setting, it has my full support.

It is true that younger members can be upset by the message, especially the part about being put to sleep. I'm older and I still find it unnerving, given that the pets really are just pixels. I perfectly understand how some people can get deeply attached to the pets, myself being one of them, and I really do not feel that it is right to send members messages that may upset them when anything else under that category would be considered inappropriate and a violation of CS rules.

I also agree with what somebody said earlier about there being no message for deleting pets. Although trading a pound pet does seem wrong, deleting one is much worse. So why is there nothing to discourage people from doing that? If a pet is traded, regardless of how it was obtained, at least there is a good chance that the person receiving it really wants it and it is, therefore, going to a good home. If a pet is deleted, that's it; it's gone. You may as well have "put it to sleep." Even if the pound messages stay, I think there should be a similar message that pops up when you try to delete a pet, because if trading a pound pet is considered wrong enough to have a message, then deleting a pet definitely is as well.

So yes, I know I am really only repeating what has already been said, but I had to throw in my two cents. Support.

Just a thought...

"It's just like in real life."
"But these are just pixels! It's ridiculous!"

People pay for what things are worth in real life, too. If something is too pricey, people won't buy it. If something is free and people want it, then they will grab it. And if they want something and they can't find it for free, then they'll pay what they think is a reasonable price for the item and will not pay if it's at a ridiculous price.

People on CS won't trade with each other if they set prices too high (eg: if they want a moonswirl for a shima longtail). If they find something that's free and they want it (giveaways, prize pets in riddles, etc), then they'll try to grab it. And if they want something but can't find it for free, then they'll pay what they think if a reasonable price for the pet but they won't overpay ridiculously (they miiiiiiight pay a sorbet for a black advent, but they probably wouldn't pay ten sunjewels for one).

Going by the "but it's just pixels!" logic (I'm disregarding store pets since those are in a world of their own and are usually not the main focus of CS--I see more people wanting black advents and shima longtails than the cerberuses and raven dog), then I should be fine trading my nonballoon for last month's uncommon because "it's just pixels! who cares!"

In fact, going by that logic, everyone should be fine doing these unfair trades because "they're just pixels!!!!!!!!!!" And yet for some strange reason, no one is fine with that.

I'm aware of the fact that trading and the pound messages are very different things. But they both involve pixels, yeah? (again disregarding store pets) I just don't see why the "they're just pixels" argument is valid. People get worked up over "omg someone offered last month's free pixels for my free pixels from July 2008!!!!!!" If the "they're just pixels" argument was actually valid, then not as many people would explode with the force of a nuclear bomb when someone offers last month's free pixels for their free pixels from July 2008. Sure, some people would still explode, but not as many would... (I mean, just take a look at the trade rant thread. I saw someone get very, very angry (scary, really) when someone offered a regular 2011 cat for a regular 2012 cat.)

Pixels clearly matter if people get very worked up over them o__o some people apparently quit CS over the equimagine lines, I saw a few people quit after not being able to get their dreamies (which were not store pets but were the bernese mountain dog, black advent, etc), people can get banned for creating multiple accounts to get more free pixels (I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that; I'm just pointing it out since it involves pixels)...

I think I went off on a tangent somewhere and probably repeated myself a few times aaagh @__@ and I'm not sure if I got the correct message across, but I sure hope I did -crosses fingers-

Please note that I'm not trying to render the entire "I support this suggestion" side to nothing. I understand the other reasons given for supporting this suggestion.

I'm just very, very irritated by this particular argument.

On a different note, if the Pound pet messages end up staying, then I support having some sort of sad message when you go to delete a pet since that's much worse than rehoming a pet :P

Nono, you see, it isn't really about the value of the pixel pets that we're talking about here. That's aside from the point. But if you think about it, a message saying your pixel pets "would've been put to sleep" if you hadn't "rescued" them from the virtual pound is actually really offensive and upsetting to some people; especially those who have actually lost a pet in person.

So this isn't about the value, it's about equating virtual pixels to ACTUAL LIVING, BREATHING PETS. No matter how many times you say otherwise, a bunch of pixels on the screen will honestly never be as important as a living pet. They are completely different from one another. And no, trading pixels back and forth doesn't mean I would trade actual animals to people on the street. That's just.. dumb. Why would someone even say that.

That's what people are trying to say by that argument, I think.

Ahh, that makes more sense :3

... although I still think the "pixels don't matter at all" sentiment is incorrect--it's just that they don't matter "as much", then xD (because I kept getting the "pixels don't matter whatsoever" vibe from various posts, so that really threw me off)

I just want to add onto the conversation really quick for my brother because he's COPPA.

Younger users might find this message upsetting. My brother feels really guilty and upset almost every time he wants to trade a pet he got from the pound.

We both know why those messages are sent out, but the fact that they're rather disturbing needs to be changed. If they can't make an option to disable the message, then they should at the very least CHANGE the message to make it a bit less upsetting.

Ricorn said last year that it would't be going away anytime soon, because it's meant to deter people from trading away pound pets. I don't know if that would apply to your idea as well though.

True, but if all these moderators say its extremely frowned upon to trade your pound pets, wouldn't they have posted a topic in the forum explaining why it is, and how they wouldn't recommend trading pound pets rather then sending a pretty sad message? (Correct me if they have posted a topic) My friend actually cried reading that message because it reminded her of her cat which she adopted from a shelter and she had to give it away to a veterinarian facility or else it would have to be put down (which it eventually did), and the memorial sent back home was saying how the cat remembered when she first got him. I would think instead of sending a message like that, the mods would send a message about "Are you sure you would like to trade this pet? You have adopted it from the pound. Although it is frowned upon, however, you still have the right to continue" or something like that O-o

This should be optional. To get rid of them for good would kinda be rude?
Not being mean or any thing but, it's kinda one of those things for the younger/newer users to understand things happen through life. though older players do get tired of it the option would be nice. If any thing I'd like to know what happened to such and such pet if i cannot find it. Yes there is a trade center with history, but I'd rather have the PM thanks.
