I'm not being critical, but the most you do is collect pets, wait for them to grow, then that's it. You can trade them yes, but that is a whole other issue in itself.
other pet sites have breeding, genes, minigames, all sorts of things, and I think that maybe a site such as this is starting to become archaic in the way its run and the things there are to do on it. I'm sure there are lots of people who enjoy this type of site, but I definitely see why people are becoming disengaged from it.

i totally get what you're saying but all the breeding and genes confuse the heck out of me. they're really hard to understand. i was able to get into playing chicken smoothie because of how easy it was to understand for me. every other game is too complicated for me, personally, to actually enjoy and i'm sure at least a handful feel the same. it's like a breath of fresh air, a simple to understand game like this one

@macintalk

I totally get that! Like I said, there are lots of people who enjoy the simplicity and straightforwardness of CS!

Agree on this! Besides, store pets aren't counted towards a complete CS collection anyways - they're supposed to be bonus pets. I would, however, be in favor of re-releasing other valuable non-store pets though.

All other valuable non-store pets are being re-released tho? Unless you meant something else.

Oh yeah I know! Dec. 18th (:

Edit: I meant possibly re-releasing more than just Dec. 18th. Maybe even just 1 more day in the year. That could help with the insane demand and practically necessary overpay for those pets, and especially help newer players get some footing with how insanely difficult it is to build your way up now. I'm lucky that when I first joined I got a moonswirl pup from Dec. 18th and got all my very valuable pets from there. Otherwise I don't think I would've been able to be where I'm at right now. Also, that was back when chickensmoothie was very much super active and people were constantly trading and I didn't even need a trading thread to get trades.

Anyways, I'm not sure about the logistics of re-releasing more than once a year and it may not be realistic or as good as I picture in my mind. I'd love any input on logistics of this!

Edit 2: I also don't think it would be wise to re-release store pets when that's almost the entire appeal of them... they're limited time adopts. I would be more inclined to be in favor of re-releasing store pets if 1. If most of their appeal wasn't the fact that they won't be re-released 2. If they were considered a part of a CS collection. However, they're not. They're bonus pets.
It's not even that I'd be angry if they were re-released. I think I'd even be happy if they were (and this is coming from somebody who owns insanely sought after store pets like the raven and cerberus and who would not benefit from re-released store pets)! I just don't think it's wise because their appeal is the fact that theyre limited time, it's not very logical to because they're only bonus pets, and especially because it's been discussed before and if it's not even on the table of possibilities for change, we should focus more on things that could be possible.
Also, it's not that I don't want everybody who wants a Raven or cerberus or skelebun to have them. I do. But that would in it of itself destroy the value and desire for these pets, if everybody had them they wouldn't be desirable. Obviously it should be reasonably achievable, but not easily. That would also ruin their appeal. I argue that they are achievable, you just have to find the right person. And maybe re-releasing slightly more often could help solve the issue, allowing these other high value non-store pets into the economy more and using those non-store pets to achieve store pets.

I feel like the main issues on cs are caused by the player-base itself, mainly the trading community. Since pet collecting is what draws in many to site in the first place, the harsh nature of trading is what repels people from wanting to stay. The player-base decides which pets are worth a lot and which ones aren’t and sometimes it contradicts the rarity of the pet which isn’t helpful to new users at all. (For example, often I’m heckled for not trading an omgsr at “demand” value when the said value seems..a bit too low for many “unpopular”pets?). This really confused me when I first joined and I just assumed people were trying to scam me,knew nothing of “demand”.

I feel like the player-base need to make some interval changes in order to become better. Cs as a site is fine, but the community is what makes many people leave from what I have seen. When I first joined, I was gifted by some kind players some valuable pets and suddenly everyone wanted to trade me. At one point I had to cancel 200+ scam trades in one month, all from seasoned players. I think even if the site itself changed, the community is where the most change is needed. As a new user, people were only really “kind” if they thought that I was going to accept something unfair. I see many brand new users quit and It’s pretty sad. Some users on the site seem to celebrate when people quit and it’s a bit mind boggling because ultimately ,quitting negatively affects the site to some degree,so I don’t see why there’s anything to celebrate.

I think a lot of it is that the userbase is changing, older users on the sites have less time to visit because of irl responsibilities and for younger users, school has begun again and takes up much of their time.

While i have noticed a lot of users quitting which saddens me, it does seem like most of the time it is due to real life responsibilities and schedules taking away time for CS and other pet sites.

I have noticed the decrease in activity lately as well, but i'm hopeful that things will begin to pick up around Halloween and Dec. 18th.

I hope that CS is still around for many years to come, the site means so much to me and is my favorite way to relax and have 'me-time', i've been a user since 2009 and have grown rather sentimental towards my account and the site itself. I'd hate to see it close down or come to a halt :l

i dont see any harm in rereleasing old pets, "true dates" will probably be rarer n still have worth so it's not like the pixel pet economy will implode or something...
if think this site needs something for people to keep coming back consistently, maybe not dailies but the only point for people to come online is events and when new monthlies drop. unless you consistently trade or are in the art side, there is not much else here to do.

My only issue with rereleasing store pets is due to the fact that it cost actual money to buy those pets. I wouldn't want to see store pets that I've bought with my own money rereleased for free; even if it was only a rare chance.

However, rereleasing regular pets on Dec. 18th has always been a plus! I don't see any harm in it and it keeps the pixel pet economy going.

I think dailies or just quests you can do to get a few extra C$ or some type of uncommon-rare pet would be a lot of fun. Howrse keeps me going because of it.

i understand the annoyance with spending money on something for it to only be free, i've spend maybe too much money on robux to buy lots of items and if they were to suddenly be free i would be a bit annoyed myself
but some people never got the chance to get those items, some people don't have the chance to get c$ through "free" means (the main way is art, and not everyone can draw) and i'd think it'd just be nice for those people to at least have a fair chance to get something nice. the people more likely to get the rarer pets are the people who have been online for the more early years as they'd have things more sought after than say, someone who'd join in more recent years.
maybe i'm biased bcs i'd like the actual chance to get an orange cerberus, though.

I don't see anyone suggesting they be free. Just a single click raffle, and if you win, you get a link to a selection of store pets for purchase for the same amount that they were originally sold at.
