[Implemented] An option to disable messages "from your pet"

Support. I've gotten that message several times when I've already been in a bad mental state, all of them it just made me feel worse about myself, and one of them it just sent me spiraling. I know the majority of cs users won't have this reaction, but it's really strange to me that the game is legitimately trying to guilt trip it's users. It's honestly dumb and feels very immature. In my opinion the warning message is fine, but it shouldn't be guilt trippy.

you should be allowed to resell a pet for whatever reason. once a pet is yours, it's yours, and no one should take that away from you. it's pixels, it's a png, if you wanna resell it, then go for it!! the pound should not just be "for pets you want to keep", it should just be... for giving pets. with how quickly you gotta adopt pets, there's no time to think carefully, and what if you don't want to keep them in the long run? telling someone not to trade THEIR OWN pet is NEVER okay, no exceptions. and the site itself shouldn't be doing that!!

this message is so unnecessary and guilt trippy. even as someone who doesn't really feel empathy for pixels, i sympathize wholeheartedly with people who find this message upsetting. i find it annoying and 99% of the userbase would agree no one needs this

As others have mentioned, the pound's message is blatant guilt tripping which is against CS's own CoC.
I know it's just a game, and the pets are pixels, but that message gives me anxiety to the point of nausea.

I wholeheartedly agree. I honestly got spooked after coming back in several years and getting this type of message. I haven't been on chicken smoothie for a while and tend to randomly show up after skipping a few years. I am not attached to quite a few pets I have because preferences can change and I feel like it's kind of odd to be forced to keep a pound pet just because it's "frowned upon" to trade them. Especially taking into account that getting pound pets is a highly anxious/panic inducing game and you might click on a pet you don't want without thinking too clearly (coming from personally experience because I did that not too long ago). Just a bit of thought from me I guess

Pretty sure nobody LIKES getting their inbox cluttered with these messages, can we please remove them? People are going to trade pets, it’s the core feature of how this game functions. You could also get a pet that better suits your tabs’ time sorting, since we can’t sort manually, and that’s a valid reason to swap a pet out, I think!

Otherwise, maybe we should spice these messages up a bit! Instead of just guilt-tripping you with sadness, maybe some of our pets should guilt-trip us with anger, you know? I feel like some folks deal with grief through lashing out, instead of just giving us sad puppy dog eyes. Maybe throw in some pets who are happy to leave because “I was tired of sitting in your tab with three thousand other dogs.” I also feel like anxious pets are underrepresented in these messages, and that realistic panic-spirals should be lovingly sent out into our DMs.

Silliness aside, this is just such a strange feature and I feel like it’s okay to reevaluate mechanics after over a decade in play.

i find this suggestion hilarious but i'm pretty sure most people wouldn't want it anyway, it'd still make people anxious. (unless you were joking, in that case it's still funny LOL)

There should at the very least be an opt out. I could see how some people might want to make sure they don't trade pound pets, so perhaps there can be a box to toggle where there is for receiving messages about trades. At LEAST, and I think the message it sends should not be what it is. Take the emotion out of it and let it just be a little warning message that its a pound pet you're trading if you so choose to keep that warning.

I agree, especially that, frankly, this suggestion seems like something that can be very fast done - I don't know what program languages this site uses, but it's my intuition as a programmer. It's literally just blocking the system from checking if the trader of the pet was "Pound" and nothing more...

heck, even if it's like. hard-coded into the basis of the site ala disco yeti or load-bearing coconut, just change the dang message into "hey, just a heads up that you got this pet from the pound, if that matters to you!" or whatever?

My husband believes it's all coded in HTML, which is apparently a huge pain compared to more modern coding languages, and he still thinks it would be a very simple change. Idk though I am not a programmer nor do I know hardly anything about IT, I'm just going off what my husband says whenever I bother him with this stuff lol

But yeah, I feel like all you have to do is find where that message is stored and just change the message like you said, even if the coding to remove it is weird and can't be removed.
