My main reason is just losing interest, but it’s also so difficult to get good pets because people hoard rares+ or demand SO much in exchange. Also the way the mods handle things is just so frustrating. They would much rather delete or threaten to ban people for any possible conflicts instead of addressing issues.

I honestly agree with the fact that hoards are hurting the availability of pets. I've seen people hoard groups of old rares that reach the hundreds.
As someone who likes to have complete collections of pet types, it's really discouraging to not be able to find the pets I need because someone is hoarding all of them in some locked group.
Hoards aren't inherently bad, but once you start hoarding rares and above it's a bit of a problem.

I'm a new player here so feel free to ignore my response but one of the things about CS now- at least for me- is that's it's really hard to start out on? Like I only have rares and other such things bc I was gifted them by some v kind people but if that didn't happen I'd be dead in the water.
I also think it's quite overwhelming in general to start out- there's all these links and such to go over and that can def put off anyone who has low energy and/or a young child.
Also the economy is... interesting lol. There's a lot of emphasis on CS dollars and MAs and rares and such so it can feel a little impossible to progress. I can understand those types of things in art shops bc it's basically like paying a person (I personally try to make my art shop affordable to anyone with pets but that's just me personally) but in other things it can be...overwhelming.

Absolutely! I can only imagine how intimadting it is to start out on CS with so many years of the site already behind us. I would just manage your expectations for now. Focus on collecting the pets from this month, then last, then from the year you joined, and so and on so forth slowly making your way backwards. You do not have to understand MAs or whatnot or even try to get every pet. Just figure out what it is you want to do and have fun! Not all users are mean and scary, and you'll eventually find your niche. :^)

Haha thank you! I thankfully have, I personally have kept my wishlist to 2023 + 2022 for ease, other than like two dreamies and I'm more active on oeaki and the art community. I've been grateful enough to not deal with rude people but it can really be overwhelming trying to trade people ^^;;

People are always quitting whether it be personal reasons or something they dislike about the site. It's not going to be perfect or huge. It's an indie game and people need to remember that it isn't backed by a huge corporation so yes there is going to be growing pains and snags.

we know the staff size is extremely limited, that's why we're frustrated by the fact that the staff(not all) that are here seem to not care about the website

i have no hard proof this was a scam, but once i was contacted for a commission of someone offering one of my dreamies, the s'more
i said i would be willing to do a half to fullbody for it since its just one pet, omgsr dreamie or not
to which they replied cancelling saying that someone else had offered them multiple pieces for it
and i just dont know, i feel like most artists wouldnt undercut themselves like that, that's hardly a payment for likely days of work
it feels like they were trying to bait me into undercutting myself further

reading through this thread & feeling myself and other be so passionate about this site is both insanely uplifting and frustrating. frustrating because there's a 90% chance nothing will come out of the love and care we have for this site - and uplifting because i'm so glad other people don't just see this site as a "children's website" full of useless "pixels".

i think something like a second dec 18 rerelease is honestly needed at this point. the amount of high demand rare pets grows with each year that passes, and while one rerelease a year may have been enough a few years ago, i feel like it basically does nothing anymore to actually up the number of these pets that r in circulation. even if it's just one more earlier in the year i think it would help a lot.

The amount of re-releases given out each year has been steadily increasing. The problem is not with the quantity of re-releases, but the quality. If you got a handful of 2013 Easter rares and some 2015 candy squids I don't think you'd be as happy as getting 1 2008 OMG so rare.
It is still a super rare chance of getting a really valuable, really old pet on Dec 18th. Personally, I wouldn't mind if everyone was guaranteed a 2008 on Dec 18th, but the rarity and thus demand of those pets would probably go down (which I think is fine : the CS economy bubble needs to burst!)

I feel as if forums that include the rarity system towards pets/lists/vr's and items NEED to be pinned. When I first started out i didn't know ANYTHING about the rarity system untill LAST MONTHHH. of course i took a few breaks but i barely knew about MA and NONS untill last month... thats crazy. I now realize that i've probably traded away MA pets for normal rares and have been take advantage of a lot by other players who try to be sneaky. I personally also wanted to bring up mods. Of course i respect mods and there hard work but i wanted to talk about specifically locking people's forums. I realized mods don't pm the user when they are bumping to frequently. Personally, I just bump every 10min or so but I don't check my posts because I don't expect people to bump on it. and I find it quite annoying when they don't personally tell us and just let it happen.

Hy! old user here who took a long hiatus,
Even when I joined back in 2013 things were hard to navigate.
The trading scene was better because there where more people on.
But I will never be able to trade up to a Aug. pps lion or raven
since I just don't have enough desirable pets. [though I have been
lucky to receive a ur pet for dec 18th it didn't have a very high non value]

I get really disheartened that the only way to get "nice/rare/sought after"
pets is to already have a fortune [of a fortune off site or have gotten really
lucky with dec 18] art, or someone being incredibly nice. I try to send out
gifts as I also receive little gifts now and then and it's nice to help fill out
wish lists. And it's extremely fun to play event/participate in secret santa!
I just feel like new pets are considered "worthless" and just don't have
value even years out.

A random thought is about the pound if it were to open more or just be
less of a mad house. Like people say if youre not there on refresh within
milliseconds there is nothing left....so maybe if the pound cool down
actually meant something there would be a better chance at getting pets
you want? Right now there is no consequence to hitting every pound opening
but if you could only visit the pound 1 or 2 times a day then more people
could have an opportunity?

I personally havent had any bad encounters with staff but I've definatly been
called mean things by other users for trying to trade. From what I've seen
there a lot of passionate staff it's just really hard to make big changes when
your site relies on heavilly on public opinion...and there is kinda an old guard
vs newbie problem. I'm lucky to be able to draw enough to exchange for pets
and C$ since i wouldn't be able to have all the pets I do without it, and I think
that's hard since not everyone can draw.

seeing people finally have the same views on me when it comes to trading feels so nice LOL i also just see a rare as a rare no matter what year it came from. no matter what year the omgsr is from there is still only 1 pet per 1000 people on the site.

i also dislike it when people hoard super rare pets.. it feels so.. idk how to put it :( . saddening? not sure. im bad at wording things..

i kind of really hope staff will listen. i love this site so much. i just wish older players would be nicer.

i do see the point on having older accounts have their pets be sent to the pound but if i was that player i would be so mad coming back and seeing all my pets i worked so hard on ages ago just gone without my consent. so its probably not the best idea.. but i see and understand the point

If the old account deleted ever got implemented, there could also be a system implemented to warn players multiple times and months in advance before their account gets deleted. It could give them the chance to log back in again if they’ve forgotten about their account. However, there would be the issue of what if they didn’t use that particular email anymore but still remembered their cs password

been here since 2010 and i think the biggest issue is the way cs users have created a fake economy and blown it out of proportion as compared to back then. i don't expect it to change but watching my girlfriend try to navigate it (even horrors version) makes me realize how bizarrely complicated understanding the rares list is. they often talk about how they never expect to achieve their dream pets and i remember it was so much less cutthroat back in 2010. people were more lenient on rarities, not counting every single pet down to the exact amount for 'fairness'.

i worked HARD getting all Those store pets and after that i was totally burnt out. economy is convoluted, people see it less as a fun trading game and more as a 'have all the rares and be cs wealthy' game, and lots of users are kinda mean for no reason

i love this site and love the pets, events, and sharing a hobby with my gf but i will 100% attest that the user base is drastically different and a lot more focused on rarity math than making friends and helping collections.

eta i think people who hoard the releases that will never be rereleased(like store pets) kinda sucks for the economy too. finding my orange cerb was sooooo hard and sucked!!! i hoard a rare dog and i'm sure i probably get some flack for that but when i hoarded it originally it was uncommon and tbh i wish it still was :' )
