Hello! Also throwing my hat in for support of this thread and possible feature.
I'm also bothered by
this month's body horror/eye horror/trauma cat. It squicks me and I don't want to look at it! My sister used to be terrified of the 2010 Halloween/Advent eyeless ghost dog. I do not have problems with snakes, or spiders, or bats, but I respect that there are people who do!
Please introduce a system to block individual pets, entire species lines, and items from server-side so that users do not have to see them if they do not want to! Similar to blocking another user to not see their posts, or to not see their oekaki art. Ideally, blocked as the image in collections, signatures, the Pound/Lost and Found, trades, dress-ups, and signature scenes.

This is EXCELLENT advice and I will be following it as soon as I'm done posting about it lol. It was also
very kind of you to provide the URLs for other people to block so they wouldn't have to look at the pets concerned. 😊
However, it does not help me (or others) with mobile and non-collection pets, such as dress-ups and signature scenes.
sagecwaft wrote:april edit: with the april fools prank this year of adding mustaches to the pets of their choosing, i think that would be a possible way to censor pets permanently!! instead of making the overlay look like an item they could make a solid transparent square that could be assigned to pet types/species. since it seemed to be random which pets they chose to get the overlay i feel like it would be possible for players to have a "blacklist" where they can choose which pets would get a censoring overlay. i am not sure if this is how they coded this so take my words with a grain of salt, i just really want a censoring feature to be implemented so i am throwing out any ideas i can :]
OP makes a valid point with the April Fools events doing things like adding mustaches, replacing pet images with silly chicken art and (????) I think it was like a fountain??? lol. The ability to mass-change pets already makes this seem like a
VERY feasible idea.
I'd be fine with like, an image that read "Pet currently blocked: click to show" like blocked user's posts? Or even withOUT a "click to show." "Go to the archive and unblock to show." Would it be difficult to add a "block" toggle button in the archives next to individual pets like the wishlist toggle is? A "block" button for entire lines sets/species? 🤷♂️ It would be greatly appreciated.
This is not an attack aimed at the individual artists of pets that users find disturbing,
obviously, but a safety measure for the mental health of users of all ages who use the site, and are triggered by subjects that pets and items may occasionally wander in to. For a site that is advertised as being child-friendly, and increased social awareness and accommodation for mental health in recent years, it feels like a pretty important step in user safety and sensitivity to me.
