I would definitely support something like this! I was also really creeped out by the bugs from last Halloween, to the point that I think I quarantined them off in a separate group where I wouldn't have to see them while going through my regular butterfly wolves; being able to specifically censor either a species (the arachnids, snakes, rats for people with musophobia, etc) or individual pets (the 2021 Halloween bugs) would be hugely beneficial.

For me personally, this month's general helper litter included an ice cream cat that was adorable as a kitten, but grew up into something that is really disturbing for me to look at. I have some issues with body horror and the recent surge of AI generated imagery and art has brought with it a lot of discomfort because of the prevalence of messed up faces. That one growth sets me off in the same way that those images do, to the point that I had to immediately trade the one in my growing group out to someone else because I absolutely do not want to have it around in any of my pet groups. I don't want to see it, and having a way to censor that particular growth out of the rest of the litter that doesn't bother me would be incredibly beneficial. Thanks so much for putting in this suggestion!

I think this is a really cool Idea, I personally dont have any phobias of animals/bugs but I think this would be really awesome for the people who do so they can have a better stay on cs

Hello! Also throwing my hat in for support of this thread and possible feature.

I'm also bothered by this month's body horror/eye horror/trauma cat. It squicks me and I don't want to look at it! My sister used to be terrified of the 2010 Halloween/Advent eyeless ghost dog. I do not have problems with snakes, or spiders, or bats, but I respect that there are people who do!

Please introduce a system to block individual pets, entire species lines, and items from server-side so that users do not have to see them if they do not want to! Similar to blocking another user to not see their posts, or to not see their oekaki art. Ideally, blocked as the image in collections, signatures, the Pound/Lost and Found, trades, dress-ups, and signature scenes.

CaptainSpank wrote:Well, if you are on Desktop/Laptop, you can do it yourself with any Ad-Blocking Add-on/Extension in your Browser with a simple Right-Click + "Block Element/Image", if you can "endure" to see the Image once before blocking it, or you'd need to ask some Friend/Relative to do it for you once...

This is EXCELLENT advice and I will be following it as soon as I'm done posting about it lol. It was also very kind of you to provide the URLs for other people to block so they wouldn't have to look at the pets concerned. 😊

However, it does not help me (or others) with mobile and non-collection pets, such as dress-ups and signature scenes.

april edit: with the april fools prank this year of adding mustaches to the pets of their choosing, i think that would be a possible way to censor pets permanently!! instead of making the overlay look like an item they could make a solid transparent square that could be assigned to pet types/species. since it seemed to be random which pets they chose to get the overlay i feel like it would be possible for players to have a "blacklist" where they can choose which pets would get a censoring overlay. i am not sure if this is how they coded this so take my words with a grain of salt, i just really want a censoring feature to be implemented so i am throwing out any ideas i can :]

OP makes a valid point with the April Fools events doing things like adding mustaches, replacing pet images with silly chicken art and (????) I think it was like a fountain??? lol. The ability to mass-change pets already makes this seem like a VERY feasible idea.

I'd be fine with like, an image that read "Pet currently blocked: click to show" like blocked user's posts? Or even withOUT a "click to show." "Go to the archive and unblock to show." Would it be difficult to add a "block" toggle button in the archives next to individual pets like the wishlist toggle is? A "block" button for entire lines sets/species? 🤷‍♂️ It would be greatly appreciated.

This is not an attack aimed at the individual artists of pets that users find disturbing, obviously, but a safety measure for the mental health of users of all ages who use the site, and are triggered by subjects that pets and items may occasionally wander in to. For a site that is advertised as being child-friendly, and increased social awareness and accommodation for mental health in recent years, it feels like a pretty important step in user safety and sensitivity to me.

    Support.
Not only to protect those with triggers but also to prevent artists from receiving hurtful and unnecessary criticism.

Really glad to see I haven't been alone when it comes to individual pets all these years after all! Felt like I was talking into the void just 10 years ago. Horror in general is not my thing at all (Halloween is my least favorite holiday by a long shot. It brings me much pain as an October baby.). I'm sure the pets are beautifully made, because all of CS's artists are amazing and I know some of those pets are high on some users' favorite pets list, but I don't want to look at those pets, nor do I want to bother others who really like those pets. Like if people love the graveyard pups and wants to display many of them in their signatures, go for it, you have my full support, but I don't want to look at it!! At all!!!
Spread the word to end the word, because discrimination based on perceived or actual IQ/"intelligence" is no better than discrimination based on race, gender, etc.

Context, consistency, and clear antecedents are golden.
I neither read nor speak between the lines. But I will analyze your language.

Precisely this - the backlash and disrespect some artists have gotten is unacceptable and gross and could be prevented in the future if something like this was implemented.

Full support because I think it would be beneficial to so many people, I also wanna add I think performing this censor could be an option in the archive because I then you wouldn't have to search through other people's pets to censor things and the search function could make it easier to narrow down for finding individual pets if that's what you plan on censoring. I mentioned in another post but I know if this was implemented I'm blocking the fleshy body horror guinea pig, great artwork but it makes me queasy so for my own sake it would be great to manage that! Plus, as others said, this would make it much easier to avoid artists being mistreated for their design choices as that's something I've seen more than I expected which I feel is unfair ;-;
Getting ready to move, I won't have internet for a while when I do so I'm likely going to be inactive for a couple months, I won't know when I'll be moving so I'm very sorry for the inconvenience!
My timezone is EST and I tend to go to bed around 1-2 AM in that time
I tend to come back online around 2ish PM
Also, trades with guinea pigs and either species of hamsters are always appreciated, I'm going for a full collection of those so if it's on my wishlist I want it :3
