On another note i feel is important: mods can sound rude with their monotone typing, this always scares me as a person who has trouble detecting tone.

they definitely need to work on not sounding like they're trying to intimidate you lol.

maybe we can turn "oekaki is for drawing, not writing" (< extremely annoying, btw) into something a little nicer?

literally! i was just about to post asking if the response was automated because it felt so stale and lifeless like???? ugh

i would like to say that it has been pointed out that there is a fine line between sounding disconnected and stale and sounding clear and concise, and i believe that is what the response is reaching toward. when providing direction and corrections, it is better to stick to that clear and concise sound because it isn't meant to be a friendly conversation. they are simply doing what they were instructed to do, which is correct and moderate players.

i can agree that this one does seem to have no reason to be shut down, but i also believe there are better places to incorporate this. it is an "interest check", so to speak, and i have seen those primarily in the oekaki boards and art boards as opposed to overall general discussion.

you make a good point! it probably should've been placed in another forum, but i also agree that it shouldn't have been shut down. why couldn't it just have been moved to a different forum manually? or if they did decide to shut it down anyway, just say it'd make more sense in a different forum. i don't understand how the question being asked was not clear enough to warrant its own topic and there is literally no reason for that to go in someone's signature. it would make less sense there. signatures are for introducing yourself and providing helpful links and expressing yourself... you shouldn't be asking questions there expecting them to get answered lol.

As a neurodivergent person, it can be really hard to get my main point across most of the time. Rejection hurts even more which is something I would feel if I posted a topic like this that got locked. Like what I had to say wasn't important enough. When a topic gets locked you feel like you're in trouble!

@chaotic creativity
You can put anything into a signature! Although, they are asking for input which isn't something you get from a signature.
You can't discuss in a signature. Signatures are mostly completely overlooked anyway as they are just a tag at the end of a different discussion. Saying this belongs in a signature does not make sense to me. They will not receive the input they want by putting a question in a signature, especially if the only way to get any response from that is through PM's. Which is too direct for someone like me who is very anxious about one on one talking online.

my response was about it being too much for a signature, not whether it actually belonged in a signature, because that's not my place. a signature can be anything a person wants it to be, regardless of whether it's "typical" or not. and the thing is, you may be uncomfortable with pm's and such, but there are others who are just as afraid of forum posting. it's a spectrum, really, of how comfortable people are interacting with others, so it's really not fair to focus mainly on those who prefer not to while excluding those who do. i was terrified of forum posting and spent a lot of time in dm's on sites throughout the years because it was truly more comfortable for me.

overall the situation was handled somewhat poorly, but i'm one to always give people the benefit of the doubt. mods and such have a lot to do, and it's hard to have a "customer service voice" online. tone indicators would be nice, but they're often associated with a more relaxed and friendly setting and do not tend to fit into a more formal message. it's simply just a part of being in online settings that tone is going to be misconstrued.

I think your missing the point. This wasn’t about the nature of signatures it was about the topic getting locked for no reason. They made a forum topic for people who wanted to post on their forum to discuss. As opposed to if they had it in their sig (like the admin suggested) any interaction that mods wouldn’t see as spam would have to be over PM which users don’t always want to do.

I included myself as an example not a blanket statement.

I only stay on here to do something and only get excited about events which only happen every few months. I just stay cause its something ive been doing since 2014 but i see more and more that i should quit honestly, my collections will never be done and is something i stopped trying to do a year after i came back to cs. I dont have the motivation to try and do things on here anymore. its a lot to think about but seeing how there is nothing said yet by tess and nick. more cons then pros imo. i dont do art and im not active on forums other than this one, just here to trade pets and thats imposible if u wanna do more than trade anything above 2017 and anything above uncommon.

I feel your pain. I wanted to collect all pets. Because They are great. But it was impossible. So I wanted to at least collect only some species. Nope still the same. So I ended up collecting only dogs. Still not possible. So I do not know what I am doing here anymore. It really is just habit. Because trading for older pets with new one is impossible.

Also. One of my friend join Cs three months ago, she was excited for trades and pets collecting. But now. She gave up. Because she is not able to get even 2016 rare with 2023 event pets and so on. She was so sad asking me what is the point and gave up this site.

I feel really sad about that. Because trading really is impossible as it is now. Even I myself was not able to move anywhere with my pets and I was even more sad about her, because she really was excited when she joined.

i definitely think that getting older pets is very reliant on user-run pounds and giveaways; the existence of new players that stay relies on the existence of old players that leave. let's face it, nobody wants to wait around for a few years collecting every pet possible just for the possibility that they might be able to use a few of them to get some older pets at some point in the future. i was only able to get where i am now by going to a bunch of different pounds and giveaways and such. without them, i likely would've stopped playing a very, very long time ago.

This :!: And that is so wrong in so many aspects I myself have got my two most valuable pets like a gift from quitting users and it do not feel right at all. Even worse is that if they did not quit I would have never got these two dreamies. And I want to play this game I do want to do trading for my dream pets I want to be able to obtain them by playing I want this site to be alive again.

Definitely this. And the fact that people generally recommend free giveaways for new users to get better pets, with no doubt many free giveaways being run by those who quit, and the economy becomes incredibly unsustainable. CS users should not have to depend on older users being fed up and leaving the site.

That's why I feel like my suggestion (shameless self-plug) of there being more re-release days could end up counteracting this problem. There's 15 years of pets and items, now. There are hundreds, probably thousands, of rare+ pets. All desirable pets are rare+, with the most desirable being store pets (which, until staff talk amongst themselves for an official update, has been "unre-releaseable" for like a decade now) and pets from the 2000s-mid 2010s. There is just not much room for people to get pets that would help them advance in their goals. I genuinely wonder if having more rereleases and realistic, foreseeable, occasional chances at gaining rarer pets from CS itself (not CS users) would retain people and give everyone a chance to get the collection they've dreamed of.

Exactly. My most valuable pets (Not counting Dec 18 of course)... were actually from a trade back in 2017 that... honestly by even the trading standards then was miracle underpay but it was during the summer event and rarities hadn't been released yet and neither of us were too sure on trading values. My other four old rares? All gifts from pounds or leaving users. Three of them are from the same thread that started this whole thing where the person said it was more like a habit.

I can't hunt the pound and I want my wishlist to be pets I like not what's valuable so I rarely get anything of value that way. Not to mention that the pound account has over 850,000 pets. That's 850,000 pets, some of which are old and rare that nobody can access or even look at.

I'm not close to quitting but I feel like I'm building my doubles group more to swap for gummies for wermz or attempting offsite trading than actually participating in the cs economy and that... kinda makes me sad.

This. The oekaki is for drawing not writing. It aggravates me so much. it’s excluding all typography. I love typography and experimenting with fonts and colors in my art, typography IS art
