Flight rising has a raffle system that gives out rare colour combos and genes and I feel like something similar could be done here. Like a raffle for very rares and old rares and up, one ticket per person no way to buy more tickets.
I think the introduction of CS$ was not a good idea, or at least what it has turned into. I can’t trade with people anymore because they just want CS$ instead of pets. You can’t interact with adopts because they want CS$.
I don’t think CS$ should be tradeable or it needs a complete rework as it has almost destroyed trading (side eyes “the list”). Plus if this sight is truly geared toward younger kids than all of this I have mentioned would be very discouraging and almost pressures you to buy CS$ to play the game.
I don’t know if this is the case anymore but CS was very against selling adopts or anything for real money, but I fail to see the difference in spending real money on CS$ just to buy pets or designs. You spend real money either way.
It comes across as CS has to be the middle man, “if you give us money then it’s fine.” I guess every premium currency is this way and I’ve never liked it on any game. I understand it’s how they make money to keep the site up but it seems very hypocritical and for younger kids it’s just not viable. I know my parents would never buy something like that for me.
I absolutely LOVE the idea of the raffle system!! Incorporating that would make the game so much more exciting, and I agree about them needing to still be passionate for the game if they hold the reins. And I agree with C$ becoming much more important in the game and mildly ruining the fun of trading, even if it is somewhat helpful at times. But as for the raffle idea, like on Flight rising, I agree wholeheartedly! They should add more mini games with prizes, daily hobbies to achieve on here, etc.

i actually like c$ because its good to be able to get something worth real money for art. I can understand the pets part but art takes time to make and it makes it more worthwhile to get something directly worth real dollars. I do agree with the pets part though, what if it was introduced that you could only trade pets for pets, you have to keep in mind that many people do offer pet alternatives and if they want c$ its okay, many of these people get c$ to get art in return. i can understand how it feels like pets are locked behind a paywall but in reality, c$ is quite easy to get, even when i was a coppa player, theres many people accepting wishlist pets for c$

True, I’ve never tried to trade for CS$ to be honest. I assume everyone kind of holds them.
I’m an artist and take commissions regularly on twitter. So I understand the value of art; but it was a lot more satisfying to give art for pets rather than another form of money to save to buy the rare pet you want.
I think CS$ turns kids and new players away from the forums because they can’t do much without it if they are just starting out.
Edit:
I guess what I’m saying is I think CS$ has taken over a lot of the more fun parts of getting art or designs on this site. I’d much rather get the pet I want for the art rather than CS dollars. In terms of getting very rares and up it just seems like a round about way of getting them. Especially if you want something like a moon swirl, because I don’t see too many people asking CS dollars for omg so rares that isn’t a ridiculous amount.
Doing art for money/ CS dollars isn’t something I think kids and young artists should be introduced to because it’s causes a lot of problems in how you value your own art. It introduces making art for money rather than for fun.

Exactly, if they cant keep up with it then they need to say something, if they want the money from the site then sell it and say something, if they want to keep it the way it is then say something and if they are working on changes then say something - do you see the theme.. more communication. Its the bare minimum we are asking for, and like relationships if there is no communication im leaving! Why stick around for someone who doesn't care about you.

I think that between c$ and the "List" its one of the reasons why the site went to down hill, made people toxic and then it was hard to get pets and want to trade. i could bump my trade thread 10 times and get no trades my way, only way i get trades is bumping on the monthly/event trades forums. just a huge sigh from me about every time i get on which seems to be less and less.

An example of over-moderating in the forums:
Forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4887881&p=142661414#p142654162I'm sorry but I see don't see what Zeena means. This user was asking for help with what I can see as a clear point of discussion. How pinpoint do discussions have to be on this website? They want help with their species but they just get shut down.
I don't think mods understand how hurtful getting a topic locked is when you are young or even an adult. If it didn't belong in the general discussion then move it. With how dead the site is you think they'd appreciate any kind of discussions... which this one had.
The "clear point of discussion" is in the title my dude lol.
"This belongs in a signature" .... What?? They wanted to discuss a species they wanted to make not include a question in their sig no one is going to answer.

I would think the “clear point of discussion” rule would only apply to forums with no context that just say something like “hi”

I have to agree, in this instance, and many similar ones, having a topic simply shut down for not being concise or direct enough in sticking to one particular point... kind of... derails the whole purpose of a forum culture? I mean, yeah, the topic owner should be respected in the topic they want discussed should be what's being discussed, but if the conversation naturally branches out into side topics, THE OWNER of the topic should get to decide if it's unwelcome or not. It does very much feel like over-moderating to shut down topics over not being worded concisely enough, basically. I mean... neurodivergent folks (and neurotypical for that matter) might struggle to identify one very specific topic of discussion when they'd like to more open a broad range of discussion relating to something, for instance. Why isn't that okay?
Forums are a center for discussion. I think too much of how discussions evolve is policed sometimes.
