i actually had the idea a bit ago to maybe make something along the lines of a "fair trade committee," or even a more general "cs wellness" group. something community-run that's meant to be a hub for explaining good trade etiquette, bringing players together, and sparking more interest in the forums. maybe it could have a directory for various active threads in different categories (open and active rps, forum games and user-created adopts, etc.) and be a sort of hub for users who want to trade more loosely and kindly- with less emphasis on the pet economy, and more encouragement to seek pets you yourself are interested in, and to connect users who are also only seeking out what they truly care for, rather than trying to turn a profit or climb the ranks, so to speak.

I absolutely love this idea! I really hope someone makes a separate post about this because I’d totally support!

i... would love this so much. i truly
miss trading like i used to. i love filling
in my wishlist and i've missed a lot of
monthlies because being an adult sucks
and life makes me forget CS exists, and
i'm really hesitant to send trades that are
bigger than a one-to-one litter swap. i'm
so out of the loop about what is in demand
now, i haven't been heavily involved in
demand stuff since like... 2014. i wouldn't
be able to tell you which one of my newer
pets has high demand, i really don't care, i
just want to trade and have fun and try and
fill in my wishlist ;-;
a nice community like that sounds lovely.

I think another big issue is the collectability. There are a few people who want to collect all pets on CS but it is SO hard to do so.
So many old players are on that haven't been on for over a decade with highly desired pets. My sister was one, she rejoined after like 12 years of not playing and got her old account. Don't get me wrong she was EXTREMELY happy but also confused. Because she expected her account to have been removed after so many years of not playing so that others could enjoy the pets. Even if it meant she had to start over.

After 5 years most games delete your account. CS could send them to the pound or do some event for the pets to find new homes. Even send out an email saying "Hey this email is linked to this CS account. Because of inactivity we will be closing this account X and removing the pets. If you would like to keep this account please log in. If you need help logging in contact ___"

Adding collecting to it would help retain some players. As it's definitely a downfall to look at some of the WL pets and know that the chance of you ever getting them is slim because those who have them want to keep them or the accounts are dead.

CS has definitely changed as a community and is very different from how it was

I agree I am on here a lot but overall it's so hard to determine values of pets without going into almost a science.
Then you have some users who are DEAD set on it and some get VERY rude when you offer too low

now this could be a totally crazy idea that doesn't
actually make sense, but something that's crossed
my mind a few times is, what if once a month or
every three weeks or whatever arbitrary time is
decided, there's an uncommon and above pound
release? i love the pound as it is, with the lost and
found and stuff, but sometimes it's kinda a bummer
to get to the pound literally two minutes late and
get stuck with a VC from two months ago. there's
gotta be enough uncommons and above to make
that happen at least every few months? that would
help get more rare pets back into rotation quicker,
maybe help the economy a bit? idk, just an idea.

I wasn't going to comment on this thread as I simply do not have the energy to type up anything big/frankly am enjoying cs how it is right now but I do want to throw in my 2 cents and say that i really, really hate this idea, sorry :(
I kind of understand where you're coming from, I'm not on the trading side of cs so I can't say much but i am full against any feature like this :( one of the best things to me about cs is that they dont delete accounts for inactivity,, sure a lot of sites do it, but do i think its a good idea? absolutely not. I often have to take breaks from games and I've taken years+ breaks from cs before, i like that I don't have to be scared of losing my acc due to inactivity. I have friends who don't touch this site for ages and then return, and I know many folks do the same. it would not be fair to delete accounts, even if the old owners might never return, in my opinion. plus, we have the issue with archiving on top of that (in terms of posts, oekaki, etc) if accs were deleted and im assuming therefore those things either deleted or guest'ed or made inaccessible, from someone who values media archiving, it would be a NIGHTMARE. especially when finding old posts for things, old images, species archive things.. list goes on. plus imagine logging in after a few years just to find out you can't because it's all gone and your pets have been sent off? id be more than extremely distraught and not want to even start playing again if that happened. wouldn't care if others got the pets because all MY hard work and beloved pets would be gone because what? i took a long break? i get your point to an extent but it just causes more problems tbh.
tldr I dont support the idea of deleting old accounts/deleting accs for inactivity/ANY of it. hopefully this is written coherently enough :(

edit: oh gosh I realize how awfully this is put together>_< please excuse that, I'm not the best with words right now ack

Just a few thoughts:
-I didn't come here to make friends. i have, however, had dealings with some of the nicest, most generous people ever here. I came to collect cute things that I don't have to dust.
-I don't want every CS pet. I do consider store pets part of the collection even though we're told they're not. Not getting a certain pet isn't going to make me quit. That's life. Any hobby. Any game. Any collecting anything. One is not going to get everything they want unless they have deep pockets.
-A way to earn C$s free. Games, probably. Everybody seems to love the mini event games. And then money sinks, give people stuff to spend their money on.
-Trading is hard. I don't trade much because I didn't come for stress or rudeness. If some of the older or harder to get fall into my collection someday, cool. If not, it's all good.
-I haven't any problem with the staff and haven't noticed any rudeness from them. Matter of fact? Sure.
-This is Nick and Tess's game. They can run it as they wish. Be as involved or not as they wish. That's that.
-I do think that there needs to be more opportunities to get older pets, including store pets. More boxes sound good to me. A box that you pay for to get a store pet 2 or 3 times a year? Yes. Although I realize that won't happen, but I do think it would help.
-Telling people they can't hoard? No. That ship sailed long ago. How would one even go about that? Forcibly remove extras from someone's collection? That would be chaos. And the random adopt would have to stop, which would change or stop trading. You get each outcome when you adopt. Which sounds nice, but that wouldn't be any challenge.
-Never pulling pets out of a dormant account? I understand the yes, but I have to say no. Some said five years. I say ten. I don't want my pets just sitting here if I quit or when I die (which, hopefully, won't be any time soon and who knows if the game will still be around). Let someone else have them. Yes, I'm an adult player. :)
-A way to organize your pets the way you want? Yes, please. Dates then would be no issue except for some. I would love for my Dec. 18 buns to be with the rest of their year.
-I don't want CS to go away. I hope a way is found to make it so the majority are happy.

Just 2 cents. :D

I would be very upset if hoarding was banned... Not everyone wants to collect all the pets. You may, and that's fine, but I don't. I want to collect the pets I like and also amass the largest collection of hedgehogs on site, because I love hedgehogs (you could probably call me a hedgehog therian) and they're a special interest of mine.

I would be pretty miffed if my hedgehogs were suddenly redistributed because it's "unfair" to others who only want them to check a box on their collection. I'm happy to give a hedgehog to someone who needs it for a collection if they ask. Many hoarders are the same.

This!!! I always see people against hoarding, I never understand why! A majority of us hoarders are more than willing to trade a pet or two from our hoards for someone who asks nicely, we're not evil, selfish people
Like some people on here make us out to be!!! I really
Hope hoarding doesn't get banned, my hoards have a lot of sentimental value behind them as I only hoard pets that remind me of my loved ones :(

Dont worry, hoarding will never be banned. Its your collection and your accou t, you can collect whatever you want. Its a game and it is up to you how you play it there will always be people against it, but dont let that stop you

Here here!

Although I don't think hoarding would be feasible to police. We all get a number of outcomes when we adopt the monthly pets, so having multiple pets on your account is normal. Why set a limit? that could stop people from offering litterswaps if they suddenly ended up with the most common of a particular litter.

As far as redistributing goes, I think it makes more sense to close down accounts that have been inactive for 10+ years. Those people aren't coming back, there are inactive 08 accounts holding onto a lot of what are now OMGSR pets.
