There was a Discord bot that would notify you, until it broke and hasn't worked for several months... Leaving me, who has severe ADHD, barely managing to catch the pound ever again... :c

^^ agree
I've gotten a lot of hostile trade messages, even people DMing me to complain about me declining their trade, people accusing me of trying to scam them, someone telling me to "learn how to read"... I feel like I'm over reacting so I never reported them, just blocked.
More of a problem on the rude traders part, not the staff. But if staff would be able to hold people responsible for rude messages that would be awesome!
Like just a message saying "hey, your message was rude. dont do that"

    Hello, just jumping in to address that recent point that has come up: a rude trade message is currently against the rules. Someone telling you "learn how to read" in a trade would be seen as being in violation of our Code of Conduct as behavior which is harassing, bullying, etc. You are welcome to report any trade messages you see as hostile so staff can take a look into it. And if you aren't sure, we really don't mind you doing the "better safe than sorry" approach and reporting it to us anyway.

    Hostile trade messages have never been allowed and are reportable. But we cannot do anything unless you report it.

@reynard

thank you for the info! i think a lot of people are very reluctant to report others, or to potentially bother staff with something small or not quite important. plus, on a lot of sites you can get yourself in trouble for false reporting, which makes users nervous to say anything if they aren't 100% certain the other user is in the wrong. maybe spreading the "better safe than sorry" approach and making it more clear to everyone that it is okay to report rude and hurtful content will help the issue?

--

i actually had the idea a bit ago to maybe make something along the lines of a "fair trade committee," or even a more general "cs wellness" group. something community-run that's meant to be a hub for explaining good trade etiquette, bringing players together, and sparking more interest in the forums. maybe it could have a directory for various active threads in different categories (open and active rps, forum games and user-created adopts, etc.) and be a sort of hub for users who want to trade more loosely and kindly- with less emphasis on the pet economy, and more encouragement to seek pets you yourself are interested in, and to connect users who are also only seeking out what they truly care for, rather than trying to turn a profit or climb the ranks, so to speak.

i'm not entirely sure if that's even something that could be done, or if i would have the energy and ability to tackle it on my own. but it's an idea i like, at least to some extent, and i think it could help to address some of the issues within the community and trading side of things. it could also be used in ways similar to this exact thread, bringing awareness to suggestions and discontent with the site, and ensuring such topics don't get dropped with time.

edit to add that it could help with the very issue i mentioned in my response... making it more well-known as to what is and isn't acceptable behavior, especially around trading, and when you can or should report a user. my overall idea is something to promote a healthier userbase, and while i know that wouldn't solve the fundamental issues of stagnation and lack of updates and site-usability, i think it could make a bit of a difference for players who really want to help the site. ^^

just some musings from an old player, i guess? ^^' maybe someone else has some ideas to add onto the concept, or some critique on why it wouldn't be viable?

I really like the idea of having a community where trading is much more relaxed and casual! In regards to reporting users and what is appropriate, I think a lot of users (myself included) get confused about what is acceptable and not as it's not always super clear. So when someone comes off as somewhat rude in a trade, they aren't sure if that person is in the wrong or not. Making it very clear what the rules are when you join and also making it clear that it is perfectly acceptable to report users if your unsure could help a lot.

i think that CS wellness group sounds really awesome ! id love to see that done and you or whoever went forward with it would have my full support. it would def be a lot of work, but i think that it could have a positive impact when it comes to connecting our community and hopefully helping with trading (: i myself am fairly loose with trading and don't take demand or lists too seriously. being able to connect with others who trade that way would be helpful !

I really hope that some changes are made to the site to keep old players & invite new players. I think it's really telling that the thread made last year in September 2022 has 700 posts and this one made in August 2023 has 1,700 posts. It feels like this feeling that CS is dying has been a common sentiment for awhile :( lots of people have enjoyed this game for quite a long time & I hope that everyone able to stick around for even longer. I'd love to see this game improve & grow.

I absolutely love this idea! I really hope someone makes a separate post about this because I’d totally support!

and sadly the first thread you linked was not the first suggestion thread named something along the lines of "cs is dying" as i know others were made last year too. and the year before that. and possibly even a year before that which i remember more because its what got the whole mid month update ball rolling if i remember correctly. it was like maybe 2019 idk.
