it makes me scared of even trading for freebies bc im terrified ill do smn wrong and get blacklisted and yelled at or declined with a rude message

your bio saying: "note: im a newbie and extremely stupid, sorry if i send unfair trades ^^''"
highlights another thing, these type of people make others feel stupid for not knowing a complex system of trading. i had a few people get mad at me for not understanding list pets and that just doesn't make sense, imagining a newer player encountering that irks me.

Super old message I am responding to but yeah. I actually think this is something the community itself could improve on. I remember being new and having those exact same experiences, and to understand trading and rarities, a lot of the experience is earned via trading and a couple forum posts that were made. But even those aren't always right.

A lot of people write weird rules hidden at the bottom of pages to have a 'gatcha' moment and say you didn't read the rules when in reality you did but might of just forgot to add the code because you were excited and bam you get a really angry message. There are people who don't read rules but there's people who just don't understand the 'culture' around forums, adoption centers, etc. Being new, everything is.. well. New. Especially for children.

There's no need to get mad at people, as annoying as people can be, it helps no one and being gentle about telling someone what they did wrong is important, especially for those new to trading. I'm sure everyone can agree, trading is super confusing.

I've made my brother try playing multiple times but he couldn't (And I don't) understand the trading rarities and pet worth. So he lost a few really rare pets because obviously if he overtrades a *lot* everyones gonna accept that trade, but the moment he undertrades the other person most times is aggressive. There's not any help besides adoption centers (Which are amazing btw) and the pound as well as a couple forums like stated above. He couldn't play. He wouldn't be able to get the pets he wanted, or even pets above x rarity without playing for super long or being on 24/7 for the quitting forums. I would of quit long ago if I was a collector, but now I just trade stuff for art and take stuff for art (to later trade for art), I feel like because I am an artist I get a lot of luck with that
I'm an artist.

When I order art, please message me when I ask you too! I do NOT always recheck forums as I am a busy person. There's a chance I won't have payment, I only keep payment when I know that a commission was accepted.

Maybe there should be something in the site rules where overly hostile messages about trades can get reported. I think a little humility would help too. I've had someone yell at me about a trade when it was actually them who didn't realize the value of something.

Agreed. I've had people get mad at me and saying I broke their rules when I *completely* followed them and even overtraded. I did exactly what they wanted...

This. Or people who have trade rules so ridiculously contradictory or confusing that I missed something as a new player and they basically lost their minds. It was one of the reasons I was always scared to send a trade as a newbie. I didn't understand things yet, and people acted like every single person already knew everything and were purposely trying to scam them. I got yelled at so much early on ;;

But on the other hands, I miss the trade rant thread. Because on the flip side, I know what it feels like to be spammed with trades repeatedly by a user who just ignored my rules and/or wanted to scam me. I missed having a safe place to vent about that and let off a little steam. I miss being able to be negative and angry and unhappy about things. I always feel like on this website I need to pretend things are all sunshine and rainbows, because conflict bad and having arguments gets you warnings.

This thread has been a breath of fresh air just to be able to express not positive opinions about things.

It's why I also like threads like 'what character do you dislike'. It's you know, okay to not like a thing. To be angry about something, to feel annoyed or mistreated and express that. Those sort of threads do have a place, both for adults and children.

Just a quick thought re: the 'being too new to understand trading' etc- what about something like profile/username badges that display next to a person's username in given situations (like in the trade menu etc) that say "new player" "less than 50 trades" etc? Just something that marks them very clearly as someone who's new and unlikely to understand the complex rules and systems. A small change, but it might make people behave a little more kindly, you'd hope

Honestly, that's an amazing idea. That would help a lot of people.

Definitely with everyone on the “where are Tess and Nick?” I know they’re probably very busy, but they run this site, they are responsible for it. When things like this come up, they should be there responding. Or, as many people have suggested, they need to hire more people who have more power to make changes to the site. This will take less stress off their shoulders by allowing more people to handle more things. I’m sure that’s a big ask as I’m sure they must see this site as their baby and don’t want to hand it off. But they have to at this point! Something has to be done! It’s either that reasoning or they truly have stopped caring and are just letting the site go to until it shuts down, which I truly hope is not the case, but get more suspicious of everyday. I really do appreciate the things they have done and the things they continue to do. But with how “big” Chicken Smoothie is now, and how long it’s been running, more needs to be done, even if it’s not by them.

i definitely see big benefits to this (as a new trader i feel like not a lot of people realise when im being so clueless about what im doing ^^”) bu also big downsides… would make it a lot easier for newbies to be singled out and scammed by the type of players who might take advantage of how little some people know. (ive had quite a few of those trades and i noticed they increased in amount after i put that i was new im my trade rules ㅇㅈㅇ)

maybe if it was an optional thing? that would at least give people a choice if something like bad trades r happening to them ^^

Trades are subject to opinion.

There are dates, there are rarities,
& let's not forget the ART WORK.

Who can determine what is "fair"
or what isn't?

Pretty simple send/
accept/ edit/ or cancel.

Let them do as they wish.
The options are readily available.

No need to be rude.
No animosity.

Some of my best trades came from edits.
Let's communicate :)

...Which brings us back in topic.

Tess & Nick started this website back in '08

They've achieved quite a fan base!!
Please don't expect that this site can be run by others, without them.

@ Tess &/or Nick ☜ (o_O)

Please work on your communication.
Built a community, then ignore it?
Hire -insert words here- staff
to do what you won't.

You are missed.

More long timers leaving.
That's why
