I am a lot late to the discussion and theres no way I can read 100+ pages, but I tried to read as much as I can and 2 things stuck out to me the most
1. The economy
2. Lack of change
I joined in 2017 for a day but I started truly playing in 2019 and was very active in the trading/collecting. Most of which I spent scavenging forms and stuff because practically nobody explains why they cancel and I got super embarrassed for each trade I couldn't understand why it was declined. Maybe they thought I was being cheap since I was technically a 2 year old account even though I never played at all during those 2 years.
My saving grace that allowed me to obtain my goals was... honestly auctioning off event tokens and off site materials.
The pound did help with some but only when I was being a tryhard refreshing every nanosecond to get the best thing in hopes to trade it off
Eventually I realized it was getting more and more stressful to get the things I want, I was getting more and more frustrated with every fair trade getting cancelled with a "nty" or even no message at all. Frustrated at seeing what I want in an open for trades group, but either seeing a "VHTTF" or straight "NFT" but not locked up. I started getting unreasonably mad when I am not quick enough to get a rare pet from the pound. I realized the game was no longer fun. The core aspect, the reason I came, the collecting, it wasn't fun at all. Because of this I grew distant, pulled away from trades that weren't easy monthly swaps or clear # of C$ for x pet(s) I didn't want to blow a fuse over a simple pet collecting game.
Sure I could do form activities, but I am not a super social person, I will probably spend an hour or two re-reading and revamping this post debating on even posting it to begin with. I am a collector, I love to collect. But its practically impossible. I dont even want to think of the months I spend actively trying to get all three shadow creatures. Actively as in spending hours a day searching for someone who owns one FT, trying to offer my best for the (very rare) ones I do find FT, stalking the LAF in hopes to snatch one (Nah only got sniped of 2 instead), stalking the LAF post for someone who got one and trying to trade them for it (Only to be outtraded by someone else anyways)
I dont even remember what I traded to get the three, im afraid of checking, afraid to think my desperation caused value to increase as my offers became more and more pricy for every month that passed and every trade that was cancelled or sniped by someone else.
I find more enjoyment just- buying with C$. It's so much easier.
*Conspiracy theory time*
I think people are like me, buying with C$ is easier. If I had to choose between hoping someone accepts my rare for theirs or simply buying it with a set price, I rather buy it. Its a guaranteed accept, no frustration.
But at the same time, some rarer pets are worth more when traded down, so people would rather trade down the pets more. Which then is an issue cause then you have people who dont want to trade because its difficult and people who dont want C$ because they are getting a loss. Resolution? The people with the C$ offer more and more, to make up for the "loss" the other person would get disregarding the fact the time in trading down and selling each pet is worth C$ in itself rather than a cheat code. People want their "worth"
Same goes with pets too, people disregard bulk having value in itself and would rather have the full "value" of their pet, making trading harder and harder. Why trade 09 rares for MAs and then OMGSR when you can just sell them all and buy the OMGSR anyways? Said possibly many people, causing a possible inflation as all the rare pets are bought leaving only traders but a lack in traders who actually can trade for them to begin with.
There is no proper way to value pets, we cant pretend the list never existed and say "Oh a VR sorb is worth any other VR" or "OMSR pickle is worth the same as OMSR lion due to same release date" We cant do that, we cant ignore supply and demand.
But letting it run rampant is just causing pain and frustration, and overall horrible atmosphere for those who want to join now or rejoin after some years. I... I dont really know how to fix it though, I see this issue come up practically everywhere when the community is given the control in value where one person overpays and now everybody expects that same treatment.
I dont think it is fixable honestly...
So why not add something new..?
Aha you thought I was only going to talk about the economy, no, boom here's my bad idea!
Untradeable pets
Now now hear me out put the pitchforks down. I think it could work, maybe.
Maybe to help the collection side of CS, especially for newer players, maybe there could be a point system, a currency (And I cannot stress this enough) that is untradeable
I saw someone mention minigames here, perhaps that can give points to your account (that you cant trade) and those points can then be used to buy *any* (yes store pets too) pet in the game, but that pet is untradeable, but counts to your collection. So if someone doesn't like trading and finds it stressful, they can instead play games and rack up points to just- buy the pet. It should help decrease rarity since less people are going to be overpaying in desperation and more people should be playing to get the points to fill their collection! I honestly would love a way to get any pet/item for basically free just by playing the game. Sure if money is an issue there could be a way for someone to buy these untradeable points as well (Not at the same value as C$, since it would be untradeable it would feel very scammy to spend 100$ in C$ for a pet and have to spend that exact same ammount for the same pet in untradeable currency)
Older pets would obviously be worth more, but demand means nothing so theres no insane demand over a 2020 R being tossed around as if it was a 2009 VR, newer pets would probably have to be a few months-year old before they are buyable maybe.
Since they are untradeable there would still be incentive to trade if someone wants a "legit" pet as opposed to making all of it tradeable and therefore crashing the entire economy and making people who worked really hard to watch that work just- poof, gone.
I dont want the points to be *too* hard to get (Ex a minigame giving 10 points per hours of gameplay and an OMGSR being 10k points, thats 1k hours or gameplay, nobody has that motivation) It would need a safe middleground that isnt unreasonable but also not super easy that someone can get a sunback in only 5 hours of minigames. Maybe a daily or weekly cap, perhaps events that double points at times or make pets half off
Heck outside all this new stuff, having contests/events that arent just "Grab some pets and trade for outcomes you didnt get" would be fun as long as it NEVER has an "exclusive" pet only obtainable via winning. I hate those.
Sure the community probably already does those, but wouldn't it be cool if there was official staff events as well? With older pet rewards that dont destroy the economy but deft lower the prices to make them more reachable. I know another game thats been re-releasing some old collectable pets to allow newer players to get patterns they never could get and overall put them in circulation, its great!
I dont know how much people would agree or if someone said something already. But I already gon on long enough oh no look how long this post is im so sorry for everyone who had to read it :skull:
Anyways it took me like 3 hours to write this
Edit: I see someone saying putting things in suggestions, but I also been hearing a lot of suggestions being ignored anyways so what can we do anyways? For me I guess its yelling into the void hoping enough people agree and spreads it around *wheeze*
