do none of our suggestions matter because the only people capable of saying yes & implementing change no longer have interest in this site? and i really truly mean it. are we wasting our time right now?

from the few responses i've seen it sounds like the staff float suggestions to the admins and get shot down, or they have trouble getting responses(??) (last sentence in lacuna's post)

I definitely feel like the staff really have no power to change anything. This is why I was saying I don't blame any of them, it's really up to Tess and Nick I believe. I think a lot of people's frustration with other staff (including mine) came when they kept shooting down ideas and not contributing anything else so I'm super happy to see some of them, like Lacuna, giving suggestions and input now other than just "no, that's not possible." For me, this is kind of a last ditch effort to get Tess and Nick (or whoever can change the site) to hear us. But unfortunately, I feel they will continue to leave things as they are as Tireddd said earlier.

Links back to new players having a hard time getting dreamies. Here's some math from page 7 of this thread:

1 non ≈ 100 2009 rares
1 ‘09 rare = 2 ‘10 rares (personally i dont necessarily subscribe to that but whatever, it makes the math easier if 1 rare = 2 rares from the following year, so it’s logarithmic)

1 2009 = 2 ‘10 = 4 ‘11 = 8 ‘12 = 16 ‘13 = 32 ‘14 = 64 ‘15 = 128 ‘16 = 256 ‘17 = 512 (five hundred and twelve) 2018 rares

a non is 100x 2009 rares

that’s 51,200 2018 rares.

Edit: Older plays have said on this thread they are even weary of trading away older pets because there's a chance you can't get them back. So as a newer player you basically have to work 10000% harder to get an older dreamy or just accept the fact you most likely will not get that dreamy

Yeah I think so too. I might be biased since I played since 2009 and it is so much harder to get older pets, bit thanks to me being here for a long time I got many by just adopting monthly. The issue I see with no rare hoards is that older players might have hoards of pets that are rare now but when they started them they were not that sought after/ not rare. So by that logic other would want them to give up hoards of cherished pets because their rarity changed

I still miss you every day. You weren't just a little bunny but true perfection. At least now I know that someone is taking care lovingly of all our rabbit friends that already had to leave.

Hi there,
Popping in to say that 2:1 or 4:1 rule aren’t supposed to be used for large year gaps.
Quote from Horror’s list here:
2:1 RULE
Usually used for trading pets with no more than a 2-3 year gap
After that the numbers become super big and unrealistic, so for pets with big year differences it just matters what both sides are okay with getting & receiving, not hard numbers

I know, but was simply putting the math for the magnitude of how much harder you would likely have to work if you are a newer player. Not saying you'd actually trade away 51,000 in one trade, but you'd be doing a lot of trade to get the value of those 51,000. I hope that makes sense (I'm not very good with my words at the moment).

THIS! I think I've been active for about three-five years total. I do have my dreamies, but they were VR not OMGSR. The main ways I was able to get the value for them was a) Dec 18, and b) quitting users. My digital art skills are pretty much zero, so that isn't a big option. As a new player, there's no way of getting anywhere near the value of what a dreamie might be worth besides relying on Dec 18 luck and others' kindness. The whole thread about trading up your monthly pets is complete hogwash, as the above quote shows. Also the math above may not be completely correct due to the nuances of the 2:1 rule, but think about how most people don't even want to trade down anyway.

this... has nothing to do with hoarders? 😭 a rare pet is gonna be hard to get regardless. it's rare, not everyone is gonna get it ! i understand people's frustration that someone hoards a pet you want but there will ALWAYS be someone else with it. just trade someone else !plus this isn't even an issue CS can or needs to fix so there's hardly a point in discussing hoarding i feel??? it's just a way to play the game.

Exactly. A rare pet is always going to be in high demand, no matter how many people have one, or more than one.

ive said something like this before and while i personally dont like hoarding because i feel like it is unfair i dont mind when people do it because they genuninely like the pets (i have wanted to hoard 2 pets myself but i feel like it would be unfair so i dont), BUT i have an issue with people who hoard rare+ pets just to extort people because they have so many and know theyre in demand.

but due to the nature of CS, no matter what people will still hoard, and you cant really make a rule about it because then it takes away CS being a game where you can do as you like with your pets.
