I actually agree with staff here that when monthly pets are rare it becomes a hoard situation and people up the prices just to get it when it's only a recent monthly pet. It becomes more stressful at least for me but probably others too when all we want is just one for a collection.

The Gatcha Dog is an example of this. Isn't still "high demand"?

It took me SO LONG to get this dog and people were trying to charge me over 100C$ when all I wanted was just to tick a box in my collection.

i feel like 'people would be upset' isn't really a good reason not to add more rares/vrs to monthly adopts. like some others said, somebody will always be mad no matter what and it's unfair to the users who actually want this stuff. people get upset over not getting good pets on the 18th. should you remove all good pets from the boxes then?

^^^^ this. it doesnt make sense to take away the chance of something good just because majority of the people won’t get said good thing. i think its better to have a chance of a rare than be stuck trading common/very commons for uncommons or maaaybe a recent event rare for months. it’ll really help boost trading !! and for the people who don’t get it the first time, there will always be other months to try for a rare!

One of the other things to consider are users who are trying to get a nearly full collection of pets. Having to obtain the rare monthly pets would be another hurdle because as Lacuna stated before LOTS of people would have to miss out in order to have a VR as a monthly. It's already hard to obtain older pets/trade up for older rares.

Though this may just be me misunderstanding the 'CS economy'

Maybe we could have mini-events? Or something along those lines? I have no clue - all I know is that newer rares typically are obtained from events. But I don't know if this'd be in the realm of possibility because staff/artists shouldn't be overworked

That gacha dog from 2021 is a really good example of this going bad because majority will never get that one pet because of the super high pricing people put on them. I saw people with multiple of that gacha they had gotten just to extort people for high prices.

Cause as of now, if I have 50 rares from Easter and this event, I *still* wouldn't be able to trade for older rares of even 3 years ago, due to demand. But, if *new* VRs are added, my bulk current rares could actually have weight and worth.

They'd be actually tradable for *current* VRs, while they're worthless for 2019 and before old rares. It would encourage trading more for current pets, and takes some weight off of the demand for older pets, and gives modern 2023/2022 rares some weight and worth and demand.

Edit: I'm aware of the gacha dog, so maybe...add more than one per year? Have a few rare demands/VRs in circulation to keep things fresh and moving

people will always be mad no matter what though. even when every single person active on the site can adopt pets on december 18th and have a chance to have the newest ur or the rarest pet on the site, someone is still going to be upset or complain that they didn’t get what they wanted and another user did. thats just how things work. so deciding to not release higher rarity outcomes based on that seems silly, since people will still complain even if every single user on the site got to adopt the exact same number of the exact same pet with the exact same rarity.

one thing i mentioned in my last post is i personally want this game to be hard. i want it to feel rewarding when i finish a collection. games aren’t supposed to be easy! they’re supposed to be hard, rewarding, and fun. and if we got more regular VRs, there would be a lot more chances for people to just randomly adopt a valuable pet in their monthlies - and if they don’t want it, the demand of it sure could help them trade up and obtain older pets to trade with!

I don't usually voice my opinion on meta threads, but here goes.

Been here since 2015. Every pet site (no exceptions) has drama. Any game with a rarity factor in it....has drama. It stinks and I don't like it, but it's the nature of the beast. I stay off most pet game forums for that exact reason. There's not always an easy solution for things like pet rarities or c$ inflation, so I understand the hesitation around trying to fix systems and upset the natural balance, especially when it's been 15+ years.

But what does need to be done is more communication from admins on the front page when it comes to major security events. I had to research myself when the initial breach happened (Around June 29th) and the clarifying announcement on the front page came out almost a full month later. Unacceptable.

I would also add that the playerbase of chickensmoothie, even if it's dwindling or not - are passionate about this game. Not all communities are like that. Some replies may be rude or angry, but they're coming out of a want to improve something that we all enjoy. If cs lets us channel that passion into creation, who knows how we might be able to help. Maybe a little more community integration/cooperation is the boost this site needs.
