I wanted to share that I’m not able to completely keep up on this; there is just too much too read. There are some things I see that are easy to reply to so I just want to help out because it seems like the discussion can be aided by the perspective of someone who knows some of what goes on behind the scenes. I understand that the group of users discussing here might disagree, but we do have to take the userbase as a whole into account and having VR event pets gets an extremely negative reaction overall.

Why would people be unhappy about VR pets?! I’d die if I got one through an event/monthly adopt

The vast majority of people who DON’T get them are upset. In order to be VR a lot of people have to miss out.

no fr, and like the ratio of people unhappy with not being able to get a good pet thru monthly adoptables (such as the omgsr zebra, really hard to get basically unobtainable thru the adopts) to the players who would be so happy getting one is really large like more people would be happier than mad

regarding the rereleaaing of old pets n the releasing of new vrs, iirc the last rare pet that was distributed through a regular monthly litter which does NOT include the zebra was the black eastern dragon, and that was all the way back in 2015. dropping litters with new rare pets could help newer users out SO well.

id also reccomend gifting new users to help them out ! sometimes ill look at the newest user and give them a couple of pets to help them get started.

Not sure why you think the last one was in 2015, we have had plenty of rare monthly adopts since then, first one that came to mind was the 2021 gold gatcha dog though I know there are others as well.

i admit i havent adopted any pets that arent horses since like 2020, but i was totally unaware that there were aby rare pets released since 2015.
also it may just be me but "not sure why you think the last one was in 2015" is a perfect example of what i mean when i say staff can sound blunt n condecending at times. you did not need to add that.

^^' Um I really don't think that statement would be considered rude coming from a regular user, so gonna assume this is cause I'm staff. I'm clearly not speaking here in an official capacity but this kinda proves that I can't talk normally with regular users without it being read into. They had made the statement rather matter-of-fact and I thought it was odd to proclaim 2015 as the last year we got a monthly rare pet when that isn't true.

Just want to throw in that the user response to having rare monthly adopts or even rarer pets during events is overwhelmingly negative. If we try to make something rare in an event the discussion almost always devolves into nothing but complaints about it until we make it more common (see the dragon end pet from the Cave event).

Listen, Lacuna. I appreciate the help, but popping in and rejecting ideas left and right, while not contributing anything, is frustrating. You are in a position of power here and you are just using it to shoot us down.

I have to agree with Lacuna that basically any time a pet is more rare we end up seeing a lot of complaints about it across discussion threads and even off-site. I personally wouldn't considered a couple pages of posts on this thread to be the opinions of the whole of CS. Even back in what many users recall fondly as the 'good days' of trading like 2012 when we got the August PPS lions there were many many complaints about the fact that it was very rare and how difficult it was to trade for and asking for very rare releases not to happen because of how difficult it made it for collectors who want every pet. We do considered user's opinions when we get them, Lacuna is just pointing out that so far every time a rarer pet is released the feedback we see as mods on it is often very negative.

lacuna does have a point. a lot of active traders aren't super active in the forums, they don't see things like this. they'll pop in just when they miss monthly outcomes, and if any of those outcomes are rare, they will complain sometimes. no matter what anyone does, someone will have an issue with it. it sucks, but that's just kind of how sites like this are. i still do think having rare monthly outcomes is a step in the right direction, even if it does make some more avid traders upset. in the end, they DO get the pets they want.

another issue i wanted to bring up regarding this, the valentine's lion is a perfect example. many people will realize how rare something is, rip off newer users, and older, ignorant users (like myself lmao) and then trade the rare pet away for huge overpay.

i guess my point is there's always going to be an issue, i don't really know how to handle anything anymore.

i mean that’s just a given for that rarity… it should be expected that people will be upset they don’t get it, but again, that’s a part of collecting so…

i guess for me, again, this is just making an exception for a small group of people. there are so many rare, very rare and omgsr pets on the site. it just takes time to get them. why not add a few more rarer outcomes here or there. people are always going to be mad no matter what, but trading to get rare pets is part of the fun of the site…

i wish pets would get archived as they grow, i find it so stressful to not be able to track down the outcomes i need - ad i think it could help with dec 18th too

wouldn’t new VR pets be extremely helpful to some of the issues brought up on this thread, including high value pets being so unobtainable to new users? it would allow for more, new valuable pets to be brought into circulation, it would also bring more interest toward the collecting part of CS, as the only “valuable” pets most people with complete species collections have to trade for are the dec 18 URs, if the species they collect even got a new UR. most of the time it’s just swapping commons and cheap pets, which makes it a bit disappointing once you do finish a new collection. i would personally love for there to be new VR pets, including monthlies and event pets, as it would give new users more chances to get valuable without having to get lucky on dec 18, a chance that only comes once a year, or hoping that someone gifts them enough to start out. i would love to have more valuable pets to trade for, as well!

exactly no matter what people will be upset, but people will also be pretty happy if thry do end up getting those good pets

To all the staff commenting on why things can’t happen, while I’m sure we all appreciate you guys for taking the time to read our suggestions, you’re also doing exactly what a lot of us here are having issues with, getting shot down. We want to here your guys’ side on why things can’t happen a certain way, but maybe you can also give us ideas of what could work. When you only shoot us down, we feel like we make no difference, like nothing we say matters. Please, just try to hear us and we will try to hear you.
