Basically I have seen from a lot of people on a lot of threads that when their trades are canceled, they get rude messages and people being insanely mean.
I think it’s fine to reply for an accepted or suggested trade, but if you cancel maybe instead of the message box we should just have a drop down list with a few basic options that say things like-
🔘no thank you
🔘this is not fair to me, sorry
🔘I’m not interested in that, but thank you anyway
Just basic stuff that’s not opening the doors for people to be mean and unnecessarily rude and gross to other players.
I really like this idea! I think it creates another barrier against rudeness ; unfortunately that doesn't stop messages post-trade but I think it could really help c:

They added a suggestions forum, they give us monthly updates, and more. The chicken smoothie admins are a lot more integrated into their playerbase than most adoptable pet websites. They keep us in the loop the best they can. This is a game. Everything here is pixel pets and items. What more are you wanting from them? I'm sorry that the trading economy sucks, but that's nearly ANY game you play. You arent entitled to get the pets you want. It took me almost 10 years to get the full set of Halloween pets, which was my biggest goal for a long time. Patience brothers.
Here's the thing though. For newer players, they will have to "play" the game for twice as long to get the same pets. Every year, the value of a rare gets cut in half. We already did the math on this. As a player from 2014, you fell into wealth the same way every else from then did. It gets twice as hard every year and in a few years, new players will have absolutely no way of obtaining even the pets that you got for free in 2014. It wasn't easy for you, but the problem is it only gets harder. Also, we have suggestions scattered throughout this thread on what they can do. More rereleases, a more relaxed rarity system, etc.
I appreciate this. I'm a 2016 player, and I feel in most games 7 years of playing a game is A LOT but it feels like I'm endlessly behind and will never catch up. I mean I was starting middle school when I found this game and now I'm going into college but it still is like I have nothing. I think I have one pet that is a very rare and no pets past 2011 (None of which are rares I think) I understand with games like that things are always gonna favor older players a little bit but it should not be to the extent where newer players feel like they have to beg older ones for a handout or pray they get lucky for any shot of getting some older pets.

I personally think Horror's list was a mistake and part of the reason why trading has gotten so difficult. Those new made up values make it so hard to trade for anything old.

I was actually super surprised when I returned after a few years that my post asking if people had spare pets (not begging) was taken down. There's a lot of rules to read and I had just returned from years ago when I was much younger and never used the forums either. I had only asked if people just wanted to spare pets so I could catch up. Something like just simply asking for any spares being banned is another thing taken away from newer players and leaving them behind in collecting. I know there's posts for people advertising free pets/adopt groups, but you have to essentially fight and race other players to get the pets you want and most likely have your trades cancelled a bunch of times while doing it.

I think the saddest thing is all the old players that will never log on again. On my friends list I have so many people who have these huge collections of pets (rares+) and the collection is just sitting there. It hasn't been active in years, like 10+ years.
I think if those pets were introduced into the pound system that a lot of players would have a lucky break with an old rare. I know it may seem unfair, but honestly these players will never log on again.
Idk, just my thoughts as I wish the people I used to play with were still here. But they're not
I think it could be a good idea, if you really don't touch the site for a LONG long time, especially 10 years that seems like a good limit considering all the chances they have to return at any point between then.

staff has stated their stance on this iirc - they won't release pets to the pound unless people are banned or asked for it.
it's super frustrating .

it makes me scared of even trading for freebies bc im terrified ill do smn wrong and get blacklisted and yelled at or declined with a rude message
YESSS! Same here. Unfortunately people can be rude no matter where you go and it just really sucks. I've had some awful interactions on here. I always try to be super nice to people in trades and if I'm going to decline the trade I always try to give a good reason with a nice message so they know it's not their fault.

I just wanna say I agree on this especially with the camping event! Newer pets look so clean and nice. The pets from the camping event have been amazing on top of already astounding. Every day I look forward to seeing what is out next because the quality of these pets and how they look seem like so much detail and attention and love was given to them (THIS ME SAYING PROMOTE/TIP ALL THE ARTISTS WHO HELPED WITH THE EVENT THEY EARNED ALL OF MY RESPECT). This isn't me saying older pets didn't have this, but the unique line design and quality has gone up A LOT. I understand if someone wants to pay 100,000 newer pets for an '09 pet, but I also get someone who isn't about that and would rather just keep those 100,000 pets to keep up to date as time continues.
yep yep, its seems that the people who grew up on this site/appriciate the pets side of it, have been joining the team more and more. each event the outdo themselves,
which makes me sad that their work is less valued than older pets, a rare should be a rare to matter the year, their work shouldn't be viewed or valued as lesser
Hello! The reason why older pets are valued more isn't because people think the designs are superior to the newer ones, but because of how long they have been in circulation it makes it more difficult to find people who have doubles for trade, since there have been years of trading in between for that pet. Not to mention a lot of older accounts are inactive and the pets stagnant on those accounts. It's significantly more common to see
user who joined in 2020 than 2008. It is more of a scarcity breeds demand issue than one of artistic taste, although there are some older users (like me) who are nostalgic for the old lines and designs. I understand why this can be frustrating for new users. It felt impossible to get 2008 pets when I first joined and it still kind of feels that way now. But the point of the game isn't "winning" by collecting every pet on the site. It's just to idle and have fun :^)

ive been on and off this site since 2013. i quit before due to quite a few reasons, but the biggest were
- horrible trading system. i have always hated the list pet demand stuff and never understood. a vr is worth a vr and so on. why should years and "demand" matter?
- i wont name names, but some of the staff (mods?) have been VERY abusive to me and others.
- the community was lowkey toxic half the time
i know maybe these are petty reasons, but for teenage me, they were valid. and tbh, as an adult, i still feel like they are. i also agree that they need interface updates. more/better staff, maybe a slightly different site design (tho i dont mind its current one; its very nostalgic <3).
still, its just... a sad situation. i love this site dearly, and i dont want to see it gone, but if one day it crashes and burns i wouldnt be surprised.
i love emily pope so so much
