it's me, hi, i'm once again returning to this thread because every event reminds me just how much we need this feature.
this is now, imo, the
single biggest quality of life feature that chicken smoothie needs. that seems to be the consensus among a lot of users too, considering the increased activity on this thread in recent years. (obviously security updates should be the #1 priority rn. but as far as
quality of life updates go, this is easily the most important.) once the security updates are done,
i truly think admin should consider making this their priority.i know people have mentioned a "drag and drop" or "archive sort" feature, but i understand why that would be difficult to code. all i'm personally asking for is that you
allow us to sort pets alphabetically by their name. this should be relatively simple to code, given that alphabetical logic is already applied to group names, right? it wouldn't be prohibitively difficult, at least. and while it might be less convenient for users than some of the other sorting methods that have been suggested, it's
something. it gives us the
option to organize our pets how we want, even if it's tedious. right now we have
no options.
literally anything is better than having to suffer through trying to find ID swaps.staff. i beg of you. in addition to
forcing us to choose between having visually unpleasant groups or spending hours of our time ID swapping, the fact that we still can't re-arrange pets is
causing real issues for the site. i'd like to reiterate what another user has said already:
CHINARIZING wrote:Not being able to rearrange pets has created some consequences for CS as a game, and some that are very predatory. For example, only sorting by pet ID makes users look for and demand pets that are right on or near rollover. This creates a habit of users logging on only to adopt for fear that they'll somehow devalue their pets just by waiting a few more hours after rollover. Additionally, it creates distinction between true dates and rereleases when rereleases were intended to patch the gap between unobtainable and possibility.
^this by itself is reason enough to implement the change!! but if anyone wants more examples, take a look at the posts in the summer event chat thread after rollover today. the fishing game, something that's supposed to be fun and add variety, is
making people upset because
they feel like they won't have enough tokens to get all the pet outcomes without trading. people are AVOIDING TRADING on a
trading site!!! why, you ask? because
ID swapping is a nightmare. so getting all the token pets by yourself is a far easier and more reliable way to get pets to sit properly. we need this feature. please.
little note of appreciation: i've loved this site for nearly a decade now and i have so much admiration for the fact that it's basically one huge volunteer effort. i hate to be so critical of it, and i hope i don't come off as ungrateful, because that's not what i'm trying to do at all. because i love this site so much, i want to see it become better! and this QoL update is desperately needed for that to happen.
