Anyway, yeah. Your example is great.
''Hello, we've noticed you broke a rule. Here is that rule and how you've broken it: xyz. Please keep this in mind for next time!

''
''Greetings user, I must inform you that we can not allow xyz because xyz. Please readover our rules of what is and isn't allowed, and keep it in mind! Thank you!

''
VS
''You broke a rule. Here is the rule don't do it again, reread the rules.''
One sounds much better lol
This is exactly along the lines of what I was thinking! It outlines the rule that was broken, notifies them if content was altered/deleted because of this, and reminds them to look at the site rules.
I think a "thank you, have a nice day!" at the end of a message can soften the tone while still getting the point across with the outlined message above.

on the discussion of mod responses, some of the help ticket responses i've been exposed to by other users has just.. honestly lined up with what some of the other users on here have been pointing out.
celozon, i know you are trying to prove a point by trying to upkeep that professionalism, but what is the harm in giving a soft warning before getting straight into it? someone who posted on this thread (not my friend, oops, got quotes mixed up) received an immediate, non-disputable board warning for a link to one of their socials simply because of a hidden picture they had posted years ago. personally, i think it would be more suitable to remove the link from their profile and issue a soft (NOT board warning??) warning rather than going straight into putting a strike on their account.
and though i cannot share this help ticket due to privacy, i saw a help ticket issued as something similar to this:
"you were worried about xyz, but now i guess now it's not right that zyx gets to be compensated."
in.. a help ticket. where is the professionalism in that? rudeness is as it is perceived, yes, but using a fallacy against one of your own users by taking what they had said and then twisting it into being as if they suddenly don't care about what they were reaching out was. um. concerning to me, haha..
so on this note, i am all for a revamp to the warning system. it has problems, and i know the mods are not intending this, but it just feels more like a kick in the shin rather than a slap on a wrist when we receive that blunt tone in warning posts. even if it's just a change in wording, it would help a lot from the users' perception.

as someone who used to play on this website daily as a young child but never understood how to use forums and so couldn't communicate with anyone, i had no idea there was such discourse! although, i have to admit I had always been a bit annoyed whenever I missed an event because I would always forget haha. I think a previous users idea of an email newsletter/alert of upcoming events would be massively useful.
Check out my ARTSHOP next time it's open!

I like what Celozon (thank you for such a detailed, thoughtful response on your experience) said about starting separate topics based on more concrete, realistic suggestions for different issues. I do however think there is a place for threads like this while people put their thoughts together - this thread has been AMAZING at generating discussion! Sometimes people don't have a concrete suggestion and just need to share and learn from other people's experiences in large threads like this; the discussion is the point within itself not necessarily any one outcome.
It would be nice if, maybe, people could start to create categories though based on what we've seen in this thread.
Categories / areas of improvement I've seen include:
Trading
1. December 18th / re-releases
2. The Pound & Lost and Found
3. Item Sorting, Rarities, etc.
4. General Mechanisms, Tactics and Ways of Regulating the CS Economy
5. Trading Culture
Site Culture and Policy
1. Censorship of User base Opinions
2. Moderator and Administrator Roles and Behavior, including Moderator Discretion
3. User Agency & Empowerment in Making and Implementing Suggestions and Being "Heard"
4. Artist Roles, Time, Compensation or lack thereof, etc.
5. Site Rules and Wording
These are some things I can think of - please add more, I'm inevitably missing a ton!
It would be interesting to see a thread more geared towards practically "what can the user base do" ideas like boycotting, writing a letter, advertising certain threads or ideas in signatures and all that.

This may seem a bit silly, but maybe we could have a staff member of the month/year award?
Users could vote for staff / or submit a ticket when a staff member has been particularly helpful or made their experience on CS better.
This way it could incentivize staff to be more considerate in how they may handle user interactions while also allowing the user base to show appreciation for the CS staff.

One reason why I stopped collecting pets and now just trade them for art is because it's so easy to just get a strike. 3 strikes, you're out. Spent years collecting? Doesn't matter. Some rules I find really silly and kept forgetting because I just thought they were so stupid, mostly because of how I was raised. I think I last time got a strike or something because I posted a female anthro sheet (No nipples, naturally), and got in trouble for that. Then later saw male anthros with same sized breasts seemingly not getting into trouble. I wasn't raised to see much of a difference. It was weird to me I got a warning for that, which I can get their side now but yeah some rules are odd and you get in trouble and get a strike and after three you just loose everything.
I'm an artist.

When I order art, please message me when I ask you too! I do NOT always recheck forums as I am a busy person. There's a chance I won't have payment, I only keep payment when I know that a commission was accepted.

100% agree. especially if when a majority of the playerbase are literal children, it makes mod responses like this seem less genuine and more of a power dynamic problem. i’ve heard several poor experiences with mods and i’ve had my own as well, and it breaks my heart that it leaves such sour tastes in so many peoples mouths.

Hey!! Im not trying to be rude- but could anyone who has had a blunt/rude message from mods post them for clarification? Im just curious as to what was being said exactly! Obviously take out any sensitive info (names, dates, places, etc) but i think that could help make things more clear! I understand it is likely that users no longer have the message but i just wanted to shoot my shot lol

the quote i put in my message was the closest i could get! i don't think official warnings are allowed to be exposed to the public due to the privacy behind them, even if censored. i would if i could, apologies.
