Create a swap thread for lower rarities

I'm with you that I think a range of years would be useful! Aaron is of the opinion "extra qualifiers" will make the the thread "too complicated" to post on.

I am sharing my help ticket response in case it is useful. Since I sent in the request, I do want at least a rare swap thread. I just don't think it will happen since my request was denied.

I was thinking about the "extra qualifiers" thing the other day.
Since we have a Trading Guide section, why not a Swap section specifically for users wanting to make simple swaps or less rare pets?

I know I spent three weeks trying to find someone to swap a 2011 very rare with (same litter, different outcomes). Fortunately, a user gifted it to me so that search ended but I had such a hard time finding someone to just swap for it. The VR/ER/OMGSR thread definitely ends up geared towards high value pets which is why I never posted for a random 2011 VR I was missing. I believe my post would have been just skipped over.

I would support but only if you showed a specific pet for a specific pet. Not this whole "any of uncommons and under on my WL". That's what your own personal trade threads are for.

how about if people could post up to 10 pets rare and below that they're LF (similar to the CS buy/sell thread) and link to groups that they're offering in exchange? (or offer C$/items/whatever) that sounds like itd work. the post limit could be once every 24 hours (as well as once every page)

recently my friend got a post removed on the buy/sell thread for looking for a high-demand Rare from 2019 (the white queen bwolf). there are quite a few pets of lower rarity that are notoriously difficult to find (and these lists aren't comprehensive) so i don't see the issue with a thread for R and below pets. tbh if anything i'd probably divide it into EUC-Rare swap thread and then OSC-VUC swap thread, but ofc this is even less likely to happen.

also, maybe allow all pets on the C$ buy/sell thread? (as long as they are specified) i don't really understand why it's limited to VR+/stores in the first place. the date/id swap thread isn't only limited to dec 18 swaps.

it's not like mods trawl the swap threads anyway, they've said that they only respond to reports.

i often avoid using the trade forums themselves since it seems like people mostly just advertise hyper-optimised (for their own profit) C$ stores, or specific high-value trades. most longstanding users do not care for low-value pets that don't benefit them (outside of hoarders, but that's only in the case of specific pets). a lower rarity swap thread would therefore be more approachable and would allow people to search more easily for the demand of their pets.

I would not support combining ALL pets of any rarity on the same c$ buy/sell thread. It would be overpopulated and very difficult to find anything. I would support a secondary thread for EUC-rare c$ buy/sell thread. For pets lower than that, honestly once again that is what your trade thread is for. I don't think staff needs to create special threads for ever single rarity or trading style out there. That defeats the purpose of trade threads.

I would note, the more special staff made trade threads, the less room there is in the trade forum for people's threads to be seen. Your trade threads will fall off the page much more quickly.

that's completely fair! I don't personally use the c$ buy/sell thread so wasn't sure how it operated, just thought it was a little silly how my friend couldn't ask for a Rare on it when said Rare is worth about the same as for example, a current store. idk I guess they have to draw a line somewhere.

I think for the most part people just want an option for missing EUC-rares as most pets below that aren't so difficult to find (though it can become more tricky with pets that are older, and some pets that are UC-VUC). I'd imagine that offering anything should be OK, they just have to be looking for an EUC/rare. most posts about pets lower than that would be from hoarders, I'd assume. I'm coming from the perspective of a casual player who came back to CS and started trading in roughly Jan this year, for reference.

I guess I'd probably call it something like "Rare and Below Swap Thread" and if people want to post about lower rarity pets, they can do amongst the slightly higher rarity ones, I don't truly see the need for more than one new staff-owned thread

ABSOLUTELY support, I was thinking about this today and was just about to create a thread til i saw this
right now it's next to impossible to find past month litterswaps on the trade boards unless you're looking for rare+, or planning on buying with C$ (and more often than not, the people there are asking for ridiculous prices)
I manually bumped my trade thread about 10? 20? (who knows how many times) at peak player hours last month just asking for recent WL outcome swaps, not even any high demand outcomes, and I did not get a single trade. No one goes on the trade boards looking for EUC or below swaps, they go there almost exclusively to trade high value pets, or ask for an absurd amount for a recent high demand outcome. Outside of that they go to the swap thread for current month/event, and that's it.
It's really frustrating sometimes. I don't wanna have to use a shady script to autobump my thread for it to not even yield any results, or spend time scraping through the currently online players to see if they have anything I need. I just want a simple swap thread that isn't limited to an event, month, or rarity.
