Well... it is just a game mainly for kids. Try not to take it so seriously, lol.
I've been having fun here since 2009 with no "friends" needed to get the pets I want. You can send trade offers to anyone friend or not. Seeing as the game was created in 2008, Nick and Tess are probably grown adults now with a lot of responsibility, they shouldn't have to cater to whiny players to be honest, they created the game and can run it as they please, have fun or don't. No one is forcing you to play. Just my two cents since you asked.

i feel bad talking about the bad side of cs and it's flaws, im mostly worried staff will just shut people down for expressing their thoughts and opinions on cs... i've seen threads closed because they call out things that are wrong (or people make it look that way)

I'm trying to word this is kindly and carefully as I can:
CS really needs the suggestions and more features implemented onto the site. The suggestions forum has so many good, easy to make suggestions, and hardly any are added. One of the main reasons (which I'm sure is a main reason) is that there isn't any coders except Nick. I feel bad that he has so much pressure on him with the security suggestions, and he has to code everything all himself. I know it can be hard to find the right staff who won't break rules or request too much, along with other complications, but it's not fair to Nick to have him carry this site on his shoulders by himself. Yes, finding coders is hard, but there are plenty of people on CS alone who I'm sure will volunteer or would love to be added to the staff team. It's stressful to just think about how hard Nick has to work. It's impossible to expect him to add suggestions and other features by himself.

I've seen people make suggestions on just selling/giving away the site, but honestly I don't think that's needed. Yes, more staff and more coders will not fully solve these issues. There will always be issues. I (and many other users) feel that it's just something that will solve a lot of problems now and in the future. Slapping more names into the staff list part of the site is definitely not going to solve the majority of problems, which is okay, but it sure will solve and prevent some major ones.

The owners, admins, and other staff have no control over this whatsoever, so this is to my fellow chickensmoothie players. We need to not explode as much over things. Yes, it may seem like the only way to get the staff's attention is for hundreds of people to comment on a forum thread about the issues. It does help, but I feel like bombarding and hounding the staff with complains isn't necessary and can actually make things worse and more stressful for everybody. I agree that there should be forum posts spreading awareness, but there should also be people reporting directly to the staff about major issues on this site. Yes, some (emphasis on some, NOT ALL) of the staff team needs to listen to us more, but we also need to stop freaking out as much.

If I said anything that came across as rude, please let me know so I can fix it. Some of the issues are on staff, but some of the issues are on us.

While, yes I agree, but also some people want to make this site a little better for others. The amount of drama on this game isn't very good for the kids and COPPA players. Some things that the older players and staff can definitely be handled better. Yes, no one is forcing anyone to play, but this thread is to discuss ideas and suggestions on how to make the site even a little bit of a better place than it is now.

I understand this, and partially agree with you, but then why have a suggestions fourm if they will not listen to any suggestions? The population of this site has aged and I feel that it’s mainly a site people 13+ into adults use since it has been around for so long. I did state in my original post that I understood that the admins are busy with their lives and I’m not asking for them to be completely devoted to the site, but to at least recognize and make an attempt to fix the issues. Especially with the security breaches that have been happening. I just don’t want to see this site die and every day more and more people quit. I mainly use this site for the art community so I can see why you may not fully understand where I’m coming from. thank you for taking the time to read through this and give your input

Just coming in to mention that the mass hacks died down pretty sure like long ago and the site wasnt hacked it was a different site holding many players passwords that were easy to get into because they were easy passwords. I do wish 2fa was enabled in cs but its up to Nick.

Anyways im neutral on this because I agree with some points on both sides. And im also nuetral because I dont want to start anything and im not good at wording things so ill leave it at that. All I hope is that cs improves more.

So I joined in February 2023 and I only had one friend who played this site. I adore that specific friend, but my first like 2 months of being on the site I was terrified to trade people. One of the first time I attempted trading someone they very angrily got mad at me for not knowing the value of certain pets. I wish I was kidding, but this person tried to trade me randomly and then when I editted the trade to what I thought was fair at the time after asking my friend who has played for years they cancelled the trade and sent me an angry trade cancel message. That turned me off of trading for a little bit (I think 2 weeks?) and I would basically only trade with my friend who got me into the site (this was all fair trades with my friend and no gifts really or one-sided trading). Not saying this is a common experience, but as a new played I definitely got a bad taste in my mouth from the interaction and had I not had my friend also on this site and play - I most likely would have quit.

Now about a month ago I had made some adopts for the first time and someone traded me to buy an adopt. I accepted the trade and I used the c$ from the adopt to get some wishlist stuff crossed off. About a few hours later my trade was reversed and I had never dealt with that before so I posted on forums and found out my C$ debt was because someone got hacked and my trade had to be reversed. I was lucky that I got compensated because I drew the adopt so I put in that personal time to do it, HOWEVER I noticed a lot of people posting how they weren't so lucky and were in debt or had pets taken from them or whatever. I started to see an increase in people quitting after that and also because of some suggestions being locked and some of the way people saw staff handling things. I think that contributed a bit since I did see some of the quitting forums mention that was why they were leaving. I only just reopened my trades for the event and I am basically only doing same month / same even trades because I am still worried to do anything outside of that because of all the issues.

NOW since I said a couple bad situations I will add: I have met MANYYYYY wonderful and helpful and generous people on the site. After posting about my reverse trade I had a few people attempt to give gifts and I had a ton of support and nice PMs sent to me. I have had a wonderful time on CS when it comes to the community. 99% of the time the community is absolutely amazing and understanding. I held a giveaway for my birthday and I had so much fun with everyone! I even have found an artist on here I specifically keep commissioning because they were so sweet and kind and just all around awesome!

I think CS has a lot of issue and I'm not quite sure how to solve things, but I think more coders, dev updates, maybe a someone the community can have as a representative to talk to staff about concerns, stopping the inflation, ect could all help ease things a little and stop people from quitting.

Why am I tell you all this? Simply because I AM A NEW PLAYER and I did want to share some experiences I had that did give me a weird feeling about the site, but also to show there is definitely things worth sticking around for as the community itself is wonderful.

I 100% agree with this, this thread is mainly to bring awareness to the current issues I am seeing, just based on what I’ve noticed, I really do feel like the site needs some fundamental changes.

I can understand why people might quit if they’re getting caught up in certain drama or certain hateful situations or just maybe growing up and feeling like they spend too much time on the game vs other responsibilities.

I think the events are amazing, though. it’s super clear that the staff put lots of hard work into this game. Monthly designs and then events too are a lot of work and I find it so amazing that they give us that each month.
I think every game and online space will have negativity or hate and you just have to try to not feed it.

To say that the community isn’t focused on the pets as much (aka it’s dry) is an understatement I think,, The website for me got very glitchy when it turned time for new pets to come out for the event and then the summer swap thread is always dominating the front page even now there’s always at least one every time. Multiple posts a minute of people trying to swap pets too and If you post you usually get 3 responses in 5 minutes or less.

I do agree though that the pet economy is pretty crazy and I kinda dislike the “special” release pets on December 18th. Many people like myself want to try and get as many different pets as you can and those pets are just almost impossible to get which can be discouraging and probably cause fights because of it.

The art side, I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience and seen negativity, I can believe it and it sucks that some of the forums are like that, personally I mostly stick to the pet side except I’ve drawn a few things for people in exchange for pets. I definitely have seen negativity here but definitely not as bad as other internet places.

AND the security issue, I’m not a part of the forums enough to know enough about this but I do know that I couldn’t log in until I changed my password to a better one which I think was good and showed they cared about my security of my account.
They also decided to look into matters and figure out who is possibly hacking due to trading history and they were able to ban those people + reverse the trades so people got their pets back which is good.
I’m not even sure how they would fix security issues but I hope they can and maybe they should hire someone that knows how to if they can’t.

Anyways I’m a pretty flexible person and want to see both views equally tbh
Everyone has different experiences so of course they will feel differently about different things

I do wanna say some people on the site are so incredibly nice. I’ve had people gift me pets which is super super sweet and I’ve tried to gift some back too. I love the whole wishlist thing and making sure both people are super happy with a trade I find it so fun.
I did last year see lots of hate around a certain June cat which was super disappointing and sad and overall cs has lots of sides to it
