Half and half support? Staff pets couldn't be added automatically as it could reveal the identity of the artist by error, so they'd still need doing manually. I would like to see this implemented, but only if it was semi-automatic, or the process to do this manually was made easier.

{perhaps the automatic updates could upload ONLY images, and not artist names? That would avoid any spoilers, and Solloby could just add the artists manually, I think!}
{I definitely support the suggestion!}
{Bumping this up again because twice now this month I've noticed the archive take at least 24 hours to be updated. Leaving this task to one person isn't fair to them. Something needs to be done to help out.}

I would love if this happened. Sure, things like the Staff litter could be added manually to keep the suspense up, but all the other designs are premade and there already so why not automate?

If not, y'all need another archivist. I know CS isn't a job, but it's so hard to keep up with monthly outcomes and trades when it takes days for things to be added- especially for outcomes that are similar and hard to differentiate without the archive and wishlist!

    If that's the case, I'd love to understand more as to why it can't be implemented. I think a lot of people are curious to learn more about the technical side of CS, including myself. No hard feelings if staff isn't comfortable sharing backend details like that, though! ^^

    I think there are a few reasons why we don't opt to do this:

    1) Growth dates sometimes need to be adjusted during the month itself so that may be tricky if we pre set stuff.

    2) The way our system works, there isn't a way for the archive to know what section a pet should be archived under. The system just knows if a pet has been released or not released yet. For example, the system doesn't know that a pet was released specifically for valentines day. Each tab you see in the archive is manually generated and sorted by Solloby or Admins.

    3) Potential for accidental spoilers. Things go wrong and sometimes on very rare occasion a giveaway release would be available for a couple seconds/min prematurely. If someone managed to adopt during that short amount of time - the archive would recognize that pet as released and show up in the archive for everyone to see. Instead of the 1 or 2 users who caught an early glimpse now many more people may see. That's why it's good to have a human to decide this so we can be 100% sure the pet was properly released and ready to be added to the archive

    Hope that makes sense and gives a bit of insight into some behind the scenes stuff.
