Suggestion: Allow bumping more often

Before you freak out, please read the entire first post! I don’t want more bumping for everything!

My suggestion is simple. I would like there to be a timer that would allow players to bump their thread in dead forums.

The current rule on CS right now only allows bumping after your post falls off of the first page of that forum. For some forums, this can be a few minutes, but for others, it can take months. On average, it takes 30 days for a post to fall off of the front page.

Yes, people can still find the post if they’re looking in that specific forum, but hardly anyone does. It’s clear that the threads that get the most amount of attraction are ones that get bumped frequently since people are finding it on the front page. I made a design comp and, according to the rule, I’m going to have to wait two months just to be able to bump it again!

If I’m being honest, most users ignore this rule anyway. As long as they aren’t spamming bumps, they fly under the radar from mod detection for over-bumping. This just backs up why the rule should be changed even more. It’s already been proven that allowing bumping in dead forums isn’t going to create more spam.

My suggestion is to allow bumping of threads both when the thread falls off the first page, AND after 72 hours since the last bump. CS isn’t as active as it used to be and it feels unfair to be punished for being active in dead forums.

The bump button shows up after a certain amount of time, I don't see why we shouldn't be able to use that as a guideline for when it's okay to, with the "falling off the front page of the forum" as an alternative in faster moving forums like trade threads or something

I don't agree, I often go to threads from the recent activity on the homepage or from my "my posts" tab. And when I do browse individual forums, it's always the ones at the top that I look at first.

Only using the homepage to find active threads makes no sense. That is a tiny box and of course threads are going to constantly drop off that. You would have to be allowing people to bump every single minute for their thread to stay on that box. Bumping is so that you can find the thread on the appropriate forum section which requires you to go look at that forum. Not just hope you find something on the home page.

just post, wait those two months, make a bump post, and then u can delete and rebump it infinitely, so its already implemented- technically xD

Actually, i do it often- its much easier to see things that way. but yeah, no bumping for when it falls off the home page box. Maybe just make it half a front page of your forum to bump?
