From flying to falling
I'm crashing and burning
my wings can no longer carry me
smoke rises, remains smolder
embers swirl higher
my heart grows colder

A frozen heart heavy with guilt

Postby Furrydogs12 » Fri Sep 16, 2022 5:51 am

it was chilly, here.
angelic flakes of silver beautified the cascades that rushed down a thousand different streams, painting the whole world with the sweetest of pastels. but, it reminded him all too much that he was alone. alone in a place far from home. he would never be forgiven. not by the angels. the gods. no one. he was a murderer. started a fire, too fierce to be smothered. sent innocent souls to a journey beyond the skies.

but… up there in the sky..
ribbons of colors danced among the mauves of another twilight. blooming with the most vibrant of hues. with rosy pinks, soft greens and pastel violets. it was beautiful. but, these lights.. they were familiar.

a childhood dream? no. those memories.. they were far from that.
he remembered. he remembered those endless nights chasing colors that seemed so faraway. remembered that soft, lyrical voice of a beautiful maiden as she sung lullabies to soothe him to sleep. he remembered the warmth in her eyes… remembered her lips moving in a melody, that had been so lovely to his heart. “i love you, azriel. never forget that, no matter how far i am from you. “

lastly, he remembered the name of these enchanting lights.
it was an aurora borealis. his mother’s favorite.

as a child, he would’ve always tried to catch one. in hopes of giving one to her. to show how much he loved her. it never worked.. and he never understood why. after countless attempts, he would cry himself to sleep as those lights dwindled away. telling himself that he wasn’t good enough. and perhaps.. his younger self was right.

but, those beautiful lights.. they symbolized another sunrise. another chance to start again. and… that gave him hope. hope for redemption. hope for a beautiful future.
even if, he didn’t deserve it.

I'm the Fire in the Flames

Fire breath, delight
to behold my destruction;
only ashes left.

Fire in the sky and
your art entering my eye
illuminates all
