Name: Sunchaser
Previous names: [Sunkit||Sunpaw]
Nicknames: [Sunny||Sun||Leaf Boy]
Age: 30 moons
Birthday: September 19th
Relationship status: Single
Gender: Male
Orientation: Uncertain (Bisexual?)
Height: Slightly shorter than the average cat
Weight: somewhat heavy. It doesn't impact his ability to survive.
Description: A topaz tom- Gold shaded pseudo merle ginger with white and deep dark blue eyes. He is slightly short and heavy with a sleek, soft pelt.
Distinct features: He has slightly larger paws and powerful legs.
Voiceclaim: tbd
Personality
[Patient || Self-sufficient || Strong]
Sunchaser is very patient; He doesn't feel the need to rush others, especially when learning. He will gladly assist with teaching someone the same thing over and over again without complaint. In terms of temperament, he is also very patient. He is known to hold his tongue and act pleasant, even when he's being picked on or belittled. He proves this as he never snaps at Crowstar, regardless of how rude or awful he acted.
He's very self-sufficient as well. Sunchaser is quite skillful and knowledgeable, and could very easily care for himself in dire situations. He's a skilled hunter, though a bit heavy footed, and has some knowledge of how to treat life-threatening conditions.
He is by no means weak, physically or emotionally. He and Waspthroat are the strongest of clan members- He won't hesitate to put his body to good use by throwing it around. It's not as simple as holding him down in a fight, either. He has launched cats a good distance just with his hind legs. Emotionally, at least when everyone is looking, he refuses to break under pressure. Rumor has it his rough past made him stronger.
[Obedient || Confidential]
Sunchaser is obedient, which is both a good or bad thing. He takes orders well, but so much so that he could potentially risk his well-being, mental state, or so on. Cinderflurry and Voyagerfall have both on many occasions told him not to do patrols due to him practically working himself into exhaustion.
He's also fairly confidential; He can keep secrets and any emotions of any kind and not crack even in the slightest, which has made him trustworthy. Being good at keeping things secret and hiding thoughts and words has made him good at hiding and bottling up emotions, however, which takes a toll on him.
[Dishonest || Superficial || Fatalistic]
Sunchaser, on the outside is optimistic, happy and honest. However, none of those are the case, which is why he's considered to be superficial. It would take a lot to show how he truly feels and thinks on the inside. Voyagerfall is the only cat to know he's not just joyful and positive.
He's more dishonest than he is honest. He lies about quite a few things, whether to prevent someone from facing unfair wrath to how he's doing at the moment. As soon as he starts to lie, he feels like he can't stop. He either does it for the benefit of others or just doesn't want to feel as if he's bothering anyone with his problems, so he just lies right through his teeth quite frequently.
He believes the things that happened in his life were all an inevitable destiny, and nothing will change it. To him, it was inevitable that his mother would cheat and give birth to him, it was inevitable that he would be adopted by Waspthroat, and it was inevitable Crowstar would be a part of his life and in turn making him feel awful, so why would anything else be any different? This makes him doubt Voyagerfall whenever she says he has his own destiny...

History:
He was the result of a forbidden relationship gone awry, and he knew it, but he never took it personally. He just took it as his existence was the sign that things don't always end well for anyone.
Moons ago, a cat by the name of Daffodilshine had been a clan cat. She and her mate, Eagletail, lived in Voyagerclan. They were the perfect couple of the clan; They never argued, they were always by each other's side, and they seemed happy together. Eagletail was truly content with his perfect relationship with Daffodilshine.
Daffodilshine wasn't content.
She liked having a peaceful and happy relationship, but everything was just... too perfect, so to speak, for her. It seemed like they did the same things everyday, and Eagletail was too predictable. There were no flaws to resolve. It didn't feel like an authentic relationship to her, and it bored her. Well, that was until a tom by the name of Spark came into her life. He was an energetic spitfire who had been into much trouble with the clan. When she had encountered him during a patrol for the first time, she fell hard for him....
She had soon started to sneak off more and more to see him, and grew more and more distant from Eagletail until she was sneaking off every night to go see him. The thrill of forbidden romance enticed her. They often went to cause chaos or do something dangerous, but she always returned just before dawn, so nobody knew.
Several moons had passed since their first meeting, and Daffodilshine had become pregnant with Spark's kits. She was overjoyed but scared- The clan and Eagletail would figure it out eventually, but Spark reassured her if she lied through her teeth, she might be able to get away with it. Eagletail did learn she was having kits, but not that they weren't his. He was overjoyed, and couldn't wait.
The first tragedy happened when Spark died. She was devastated and grieved for days. A few days after, a second tragedy struck.
It was just before dawn when Daffodilshine had began to birth the kits. There were three- One was stillborn, one seemed well and strong, and the smallest one, a tiny tom, was struggling to survive. She was struck with grief; She named the stillborn Leafkit for the fragility of leaves and young life, the strong one Coyotekit for her strength, and the tiniest one Sunkit for his sunset-like pelt. She had no hope for him or his survival. Eagletail had seen the kits and grieved for Leafkit. He promised to protect the two that remained.
Several days later, they noticed Coyotekit had seemed to deteriorate in health seemingly overnight. Beetlewhisper had tried everything to save her, but nothing worked and she passed away in her sleep. Sunkit was the only one left. Daffodilshine herself was unwell. She didn't know what it was, but she was suddenly painful and sick all the time. Sunkit was still weak and she continued to constantly care for him despite her own poor health, which she ignored until Eagletail urged her to try and get help. Beetlewhisper gave her herbs which helped build her strength up and ease her pain, but it didn't seem like enough. She knew it was over. This was all for betraying Eagletail, wasn't it? It broke her.
She knew there was another queen who would care for Sunkit if she suddenly died. That queen was Waspthroat.
When she finally knew her time had arrived, she called in Eagletail and she told him the truth about the kits. Her last wish was to see Sunkit go to Waspthroat. Eagletail agreed and when Daffodilshine breathed her last breath, he complied full of grief and the feeling of betrayal.
Waspthroat had taken him in immediately alongside her two older kits Sparrowkit and Crowkit, She promised to care for him as much as she could.
Sunkit grew to be stronger. He got along with most of his family just fine. Crowkit, though, was an exception. He would always pick on him for being short, and would try and exclude him whenever possible. Sparrowkit always jumped to his defense. Sunkit never understood why Crowkit always picked on him.
One incident stood out after Crowpaw and Sparrowpaw became Atlases.
Sunkit was playing in the clearing when he saw Crowpaw. He stalked up behind him and had pounced on his tail.
"What are you doing?" Crowpaw had turned to hiss at him.
"I caught you! Aren't you proud of me for being so sneaky?" Sunkit chirped through a mouthful of fur. He seemed super proud of himself.
"Let go of my tail." He snarled. Sunkit dropped his tail, looking stunned at his sudden agitation. Sparrowpaw and Heatherpaw had appeared just then, and Sunkit hid behind them. Sparrowpaw had began to yell at Crowpaw for treating Sunkit so poorly. "What is your problem, Crow?! Can't you at least try and be nice to him?" Crowpaw had rolled his eyes. "I don't know why I should; It's not like he's our brother, anyway." he turned and walked off. The three were absolutely startled at Crowpaw's comment. That stung deep within Sunkit. "Don't listen to him. He's jealous." Sparrowpaw mumbled softly to him, but he wasn't listening. He just turned and sulked off to the Calypso den. It had hurt him badly.
Crowpaw continued to treat Sunkit poorly and it continued into Sunkit becoming an Atlas.
Sunpaw had been an Atlas for less than a moon when the first rockfall happened. When it happened, he could do nothing but stare in horror as Heatherpaw and Hailsoar were trapped behind the rocks. He remembered clan cats panicking and trying to rescue the two. Waspthroat had rescued Crowpaw, but she hadn't been able to get to the other two cats.
The three brothers grieved. Sunpaw had began to notice Crowpaw not only became more hostile to him, but he had become much more angry and hostile towards Waspthroat. Sunpaw knew she put her life in danger to try and save all of them. "Mom? I know you were trying to save them. I know Crowpaw is being mean. Thank you for saving my big brother and trying to save dad and Heatherpaw." He told Waspthroat one night after the rocks fell. "They would have been happy you tried."
It gave her comfort and in turn made him feel better.
Some days after, Sparrowpaw had gone missing from camp. The clan had searched everywhere for the young Atlas but he was nowhere to be found. Sunpaw was devastated. He had been close with Sparrowpaw since he defended him whenever Crowpaw had been cruel to him. When they were searching for Sparrowpaw, Sunpaw was almost glad since that was the one time he and Crowpaw had worked together, and Crowpaw hadn't belittled him. Soon, though, Crowpaw had gone back to picking on him for his height and for being less than agile. Through everything, he had never fallen to pessimistic thoughts and tried to stay optimistic.
Voyagerpaw and Sunpaw had first become friends when they began patrolling together. Dewstar, Sunpaw's mentor, knew Voyagerpaw was shy and somewhat isolated, while Sunpaw was outgoing and friendly. She quickly warmed up to him. The two didn't feel so alone and friendless anymore, as they now had each other. They would always stick by each other's side and do things like patrol and hunt together.
Some moons later, Sunpaw and Voyagerpaw had been on a patrol with Dewstar and several others when a rogue group ambushed the patrol. The group fought fiercely, but none as fierce as Sunpaw. Sunpaw had used his weight and height to his advantage, using it to bowl over some of the larger cats and stun them while the clan cats attacked the rogues. Voyagerpaw at one was attacked by a cat much bigger than her. In a fit of rage, Sunpaw threw his entire weight into the rogue, sending him tumbling backwards. This was the point where the rogues began to retreat. The cats chased them off and out of the territory.
As a result of him successfully chasing out the rogues, he received his warrior name early, much to Crowshadow's disgust.
"Sunpaw, from here on out you will be named Sunchaser for your ability to chase after the light in the darkest times and your agility and speed."
Sunchaser was congratulated by the clan. He thought about how he had managed to stay positive through the worst of times and through Crowshadow's worst attacks on him. It made him feel at peace.
Crowshadow becoming the Titan was something he didn't think he would've ever had to fear. When he became Titan, Crowstar sent him on any and every patrol that was available so as to try and make him miserable. He continued to taunt him for not amounting to anything or his rank as a helene, but Sunchaser had become desensitized to the torment and enjoyed the patrols since he could be with now Voyagerfall and away from him, albeit constantly tired.
Waspthroat one day told him about his parents. He felt grief for his siblings and Eagletail. His true mother? She filled him with rage after hearing that story. He had to take the consequences for her actions, he thought, and all because instead of trying to talk to Eagletail like a reasonable Helene she cheated on and lied to him. What a disgrace! He never held it against Waspthroat or Eagletail, though. He regretted that he didn't know about it sooner.
Many moons down the road, he was brought to a meeting with the clan cats who were tired of Crowstar. He was conflicted about their plans to exile him- He had treated him poorly, yes, but he was also his brother and still cared about him as such. His own mother and clanmates were ready to overthrow him, though, so he felt obliged to join them. Plus, it was for the better of the clan, he reasoned.
As the exile drew to an end and he watched Crowstar and his gang disappear into the valley, he couldn't help but feel both guilt and relief. He was free of torment, but he had lost another brother. All at once the tears fell; He was overwhelmed from everything, but he finally could live in peace.
For now, it seemed like everything would finally be normal.
Relationships
-Waspthroat
"She's still my mom and I love her. She's the only mom I've ever known."Waspthroat is Sunchaser's adoptive mother. He loves her and when Hailsoar died, he reassured her that it was never her fault and helped her understand she did her best even when it wasn't enough. He has always been close with her and understands that even if he's not her own kit, she still loves him.
-Roseshade
"Roseshade is... Well, he's kind of intimidating to tell you the truth, but he's also like a big brother."Sunchaser is intimidated by Roseshade even though he knows he won't hurt him. As an atlas, they've talked on one or two occasions, and while he didn't blatantly avoid him, he didn't go out of his way to try and interact with him either. When he lost Heatherpaw, Sunchaser comforted him through his grief. Roseshade and Sunchaser often got picked on by Crowstar, so they began to defend each other. When Roseshade and the clan exiled Crowstar, he began to look up to him more. The two began to bond and now they're like brothers.
-Bruce
"Bruce is like a super cool dad sorta. He taught me how to be more agile on my feet."Sunchaser was weary of Bruce at first due to him being a dog. Through Cinderflurry's help, however, he grew to trust the short and lazy dog. He admires Bruce's calm temperament and friendly attitude and appearance. When Sunchaser was feeling less than confident about lacking agility, Bruce showed him other ways to move quickly that didn't involve him tripping and slamming his face into the ground.
-Cinderflurry
"Cinderflurry is cool, but I'm worried she's going to do something rockbrained and get herself killed."Sunchaser goes to Cinderflurry whenever he questions his own judgement about a question or scenario, since he trusts her judgement about things very well. However, he's deeply concerned. He's worried that her recklessness may cause her to get hurt or even killed, so often he is her voice of reason (even when she doesn't always listen). Whenever Sunchaser warns her about something and it turns out exactly as he said it would, he gets smug about it. They overall have a fair friendship (that usually involves teasing each other in a friendly manner).
-Weaselstride
"I pity the poor soul..."Sunchaser and Weaselstride are more acquaintances than friends, but Sunchaser can't help but feel sympathy for him. He feels bad seeing the tom so anxious about everything. He's very worried about his relationship with Sandstar, not because anything is wrong with it, but he doesn't want the same scenario to happen to them as his parents, but Weaselstride insists their relationship is fine despite their occasional ups and downs.
-Cypresswhisker
"Cypresswhisker is an oddball, but Im jealous he has a strong temper."Sunchaser is envious of Cypresswhisker due to his assertiveness, but he knows good and well Cypresswhisker is an oddball at heart. He's even proven it several times, too (much to Cypresswhisker's dismay).
-Dustbreeze
"Dustbreeze is super intimidating too, but that's because she's Dustbreeze. She's actually alright."Dustbreeze and Sunchaser don't talk or interact all too often, but their interactions are alright. They're more of friendly greetings or occasional small talk but nothing more.
-Voyagerfall
"Voyagerfall is one of my best friends and if something happened to her I think I'd go crazy."Voyagerfall and Sunchaser have been friends since they were Atlases. The two of them are almost inseparable, and it's been joked about that Sunchaser might be her mate one day. Sunchaser laughs and brushes it off, but Voyagerfall does act different around him compared to other cats, which makes him suspicious. They would both run into a fire to save each other if they had to.
-Kataloxpaw
"Kataloxpaw is just a ball of fur that eats and sleeps and I strive to be that carefree."He enjoys seeing Kataloxpaw seem so careless and free, even when the situation is bad. He doesn't interact much with her, besides her telling the occasional cheesy joke that gets a groan out of him, or when she seems to suddenly appear behind him- He's not too fond of her appearing out of seemingly nowhere. It gives him a spook.
NPC Relationships
-Hailsoar
"He was the dad that I needed."He thinks Hailsoar, despite not being his birth father, was a great parental figure. He always found time to spend with him, and he didn't think for one minute he was a burden to Hailsoar. Sunchaser always saw him as brave and understanding, and when he died, Sunchaser still believed he was brave for sacrificing himself to rescue Heatherpaw, and understanding enough to know it wasn't Waspthroat's fault. Sunchaser stated that if he was ever a father, he wanted to be a father like him.
-Sparrowpaw
"I miss him, but maybe he's alive and well... I hope so, at least."Unlike his relationship with Crowstar, Sunchaser and Sparrowpaw got along quite well. Sparrowpaw defended him when he'd be picked on, and he would play games with him. Sunchaser was devastated when Sparrowpaw went missing, but deep down he has some hope he's still alive and he can't wait for him to return home.
-Crowstar
"There was never a point in time where it was okay to treat us all like he did."Sunchaser hates Crowstar. Crowstar had treated him poorly from the beginning and pushed him away. It hurts him, though. All he wanted was to be close with Crowstar, but never could. Sunchaser would never admit it out loud, but he felt better once he was gone. Even then, he still feels guilt. He feels bad that he and Crowstar never got a chance to have the same bond as he does with Sparrowpaw, and he feels bad for feeling good about him being gone since he was still his brother.
-Eagletail
"I feel bad for him kinda..."He feels... well, sorta bad for Eagletail. He feels bad about everything that happened to him, and he feels bad about not getting the chance to bond with him like father and son. At the same time, Eagletail had never made an attempt to bond with him. Eagletail always saw the spirit of Daffodilshine in him, and it haunted him with memories. Sunchaser understands, but he feels awful about it.
-Daffodilshine
"Are you happy now?! Are you happy you did this?!"If there was one other cat besides Crowstar that Sunchaser was absolutely furious with, it was Daffodilshine. When he learned about her and what she did, he was enraged with her. He believed she was so selfish as to ruin a perfect relationship just because she wanted something else. It wasn't so much that to him as it was that she found the solution to be cheating on his father and lying to him. He feels like now he has to suffer with guilt and consequences because of her actions.
-Spark
"..."Sunchaser has no solid opinion on Spark besides that he shouldn't have encouraged Daffodilshine to lie to Eagletail as she did. He didn't know very much about him, which was why he never made an opinion.
-Leafkit and Coyotekit
"It's not fair to them... It never was."He knew very little about his siblings, but he thought that Leafkit and Coyotekit were punishment to Daffodilshine, which is why he feels horrible for them. He thinks neither of them should have died, and it makes him feel more guilty for surviving.
