It started the day he met his true love

How Midnight Concerto met his mate:

He was stunning. Out of all the horses in the herd, my eyes only laid on him.
My heart melted as my eyes met his beautiful violet ones. It felt as if our hearts connected at that exact moment in time. I wanted to be with him and only him.

As I approached the new pasture all the horses looked at me. They were all nervous and didn’t come over to greet me. Except for him.
He trotted over delightfully, his eyes shining with joy. Did he feel the same way I did? I never believed in soul mates, but he proved me wrong.
He came to a stop as he reached the fence that separated us. He greeted me with a kind smile.
“Welcome to Whispering Pines, you’re going to love it here.
Everyone’s treated as royalty by our handler.” He gave a light giggle.
Gosh, my heart melted more as he talked and made that giggle.
I wanted to speak, but no words wanted to come out of my mouth.
“Nervous? I understand, take your time. I would love to stay and chat but I have to get back to the herd.
Hope to see you around soon!” He smiled again before turning around and trotting back to the other horses.

My new handler led me to the stables. He gave me a nice cool bath and plenty of delicious apples and sugar cubes for being a ‘good boy’. The compliment was a bit much but at least it gets me treats!
I really just wanted to go to the pasture. Meet the new horses and see him again.
I should’ve gotten his name. I can’t stop hearing his voice, it sounded like a soft song playing over and over again in my mind. As my handler was drying me he started suggesting names.
When the name ‘Midnight Concerto’ came out of his mouth I whinnied.
That name stuck, I loved it. I finally have an official name.

My handler brushed me down and introduced me to my new stable.
He finally led me back to the pasture. I immediately trotted over to the herd to introduce myself.
All of them looked nervous, was it because of my horns? Maybe it’s just because I’m new.
I started to get nervous and couldn’t get any words out of my mouth again.
Then he came over and I relaxed a bit.
I took a deep breath, “hi everyone! I’m Midnight Concerto, but please call me Concerto or Night.
Please don’t take me as threat, I’m as sweet as a lamb”
    Everyone gave soft smiles.
“Well it’s nice to officially meet you, Concerto.
I’m Osiris.” He looked at me with those gentle violet eyes.

Then I hear an unfamiliar voice,
“Oooo, looks like someone’s crushing on Osiris!”
I look over and see a mare staring at us. I try to defend myself but all that comes out is,
“I- uh- you're-.” I just shut my mouth and stare at my hooves.
    Everyone giggled, including Osiris.
“Don’t let Ghost get to you, she loves to tease and make jokes.”
He looked at the mare, “don’t tease the new guy yet, Ghost.”

“Fineeee, you’re so unfun. I’m gonna go tease Adrian then.”
The mare giggled and trotted off.
I looked around and it looks like everyone went off on their own ways.
Except Osiris, for some reason he stayed. I looked at him.
    “You’re so beautiful.”
He giggled, “well thank you, you’re beautiful too.”
My cheeks turned bright red. “I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to say that aloud.”
He shook his head, “don’t worry about it. Everyone says the same thing when they first see me.”
I just nodded silently and dug my hoof into the dirt. I guess he doesn’t feel the same way.
Maybe he says the same thing to everyone.

    “Hey, what’s bothering you Certo?”
That nickname made my heart go wild. I looked at him, those soft eyes staring back at me.
“U-uh, this May sound very insane and inappropriate since I’ve literally known you for an hour.
But uh, I may be. Like. Sorta, kinda, in love with you?” I looked back at the ground, feeling anxious and nervous and immediately started regretting what I said.
All I hear is a light giggle and I wait for the embarrassment to begin.
“You’re not insane. And it’s not inappropriate.
As soon as I saw you I felt the same way. I thought I was insane but you proved me wrong.
You also proved to me that soulmates might actually exists. And I’m pretty sure you’re mine.”
His voice relaxed me, I looked at him and that smile made me smile.

“Thank you, Osiris. You also proved me wrong.
And I think you may be my soulmate as well.”
I laughed a bit before hearing a sharp pitched squeal which made me jump.
I looked over and Ghost was standing 10 feet away from Osiris and I.
“Thanks for puncturing my ear drums Ghost.”

“You’re welcome! Now I have to go tell everyone that Osiris finally found his mate!”
And with that Ghost trotted off, leaving Osiris and I alone once again.
But this time wasn’t as nerve wrecking. I was comfortable, and I know I found my new favourite place to be.
Right next to this violet eye beauty that stole my heart.
