Children of the night, born under the moon and raised with the stars; brother and sister bound together like
no other. That is who they are and that is who they have always been. Neither has known anything else since
their first breath. Their destiny is written among the galaxies and the elders have always been sure to never
let that fact slip from their minds.
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo Aurora and Eos, your time has come.

        xoxoCalm, Careful, Collected.
xoxoA rhythmic thought process danced through the mind of the figure at the top of the mountain. It fell in time with the soft and deep foggy breaths of that same figure as she concentrated hard on her meditation. It was important she got it right this time, she had little time before her brother arrived.
xoxoThen, as if on schedule, the sharp sound of a stick breaking under heavy paws broke her focus. The viscet huffed and allowed her eyes to flutter open. She brought her starry blue body to a stand and shook her black mane out, almost as if she was trying to shake away the tingles of irritation from being interrupted. Aurora turned to look to the wood line behind her. For only a moment did she watch before a long similarly blue and black body emerged from the brush. He carried a satchel and wore a happily naive smile on his face.
xoxo"Evenin' sis, you missed dinner... so I figured I'd bring dinner to you!" He began unloading the bag from his back and started laying out an assortment of food before them both.
xoxo "Eos, I..." Aurora couldn't bring herself to reject his act of kindness, so she smiled and obliged. "Thank you." With that the two sat down across from one another and began eating. An unusual silence fell between them.
xoxo"The ceremony is tonight.." Eos looked up from his food at his sister, watching her expression carefully. "Do you, think we're ready?" He asked the question knowing full well Aurora had been prepared for weeks, it was more so a matter of if he himself was ready.
xoxoAurora thought for a moment, fiddling with the food before her. Some doubt in herself still lingered. "I don't know," She looked up to meet her brothers eyes. His uncertainty was evident even before she saw the shroud of worry over his face. "However it ends up, it will be as it should be. You're strong Eos." Her smile was soft but genuine.

xoxoThey ate in silence like that for the next moments to pass, both trying to calm their anxious minds. They've been reminded of the prophecy and their duties and the way things were in the tribe since they were cubs. Even so they still could never be ready for what was to be asked of them. Their snowy village was small compared to others but traditions still tied deep into the roots of their society. It had always been hard for the elders to accept the modern ways. Electricity was still seldom used among any Viscet in the village. When Eos and Aurora were born, the elders found validation in their desperation to keep to tradition. After all, why would the tribe be blessed with the cubs of prophecy if not as a reward? A reward for staying true to the old ways. For the chief and his mate, their newborn twins brought a bittersweet taste to their mouths. The chief found great honor in fathering the children of prophecy.. but ceremonial day loomed over his head as well. For 18 years he got to watch his children grow and learn and experience the world around them, knowing that one day it would be time. One day Aurora and Eos would be asked to face one another in a duel to the death. Only then could he pass his leadership on to one of them. One of them would lead the tribe in glorious conquests. Only one.

xoxoThe silence was broken by Eos when he finished the last bite of his meal. "You know what, we still have a few hours. Care to go on a walk with me?" He brought his legs beneath him and stood up, offering a paw to his sister.
xoxoAurora eyes him for a moment before smirking and accepting his offer. "Why not.. may be the last one I take." The joke may of been in poor taste but they both chuckled anyways.
The two of them walked and made small talk as they took in every sight and sound around them. They took extra time to feel the earth beneath their paws and taste the wind as it blew between them and the trees. It was almost calming.
"I never realized how beautiful it is out here.." Aurora looked up at the canopy of leaves far above her.
xoxoEos's eyes shifted to his sister. "Really?. I came here often when you were out training. It brought me peace when I was reminded of.. ya'know." His gaze trailed off into the trees. He and Aurora both knew what the outcome of the duel would be. Both of them were so different, and for once that wasn't a good thing. Eos had always been carefree and adventurous. He cared not for fighting or leading.. He only wanted to experience the world for what it was and escape their shoebox of a village. Aurora on the other hand accepted her fate early on. Most in the tribe would say she was something of a daddy's girl due to her frequent training and lessons with her father. It wasn't that she wanted to kill her brother, in fact she found great joy and comfort in playing with and listening to Eos's stories; She simply saw the world as a realist.
xoxo Aurora's mind flooded with the times she recalled Eos slipping away from everyone. She would catch a glimpse of him every time father carted her away. Sometimes she would ask Eos to stay and train with her or sit in and watch, the excuse was always creative but simply the same: "I can't." Eventually she grew out of asking because her brother offered such amazing stories when he returned...
xoxo It was then the black maned viscet snapped from her thought and stopped in her tracks. "Eos, I don't want to kill you."
xoxo Her brother stopped and looked back at her. Aurora... I know. You don't need to-"
xoxo "No. I mean I won't" Her eyes started to become glossy. "I won't. It's not fair. It's not right"
xoxoEos stepped towards her carefully realizing she was serious. "I don't think it works like that.."
xoxo"We have to try. Say you'll fight with me. Say you'll stand up to those old brutes and fight this. That's the only fight I want."
xoxoThe few moments between them seemed like decades up until Eos cleared his throat, took a deep breath, and looked back into his sisters eyes."Okay, lets go."
