Pitch's Form for Shadow Flit 200

It was the night before the Dragon Boat Festival and a small town in China was bustling with excitement. The delectable smell of zongzi filled the air, children bubbling with excitement and wanting to get a glimpse of the boats; Enthusiasm was everywhere. Everywhere except in a tiny little house that sat near the Victoria Harbor. Inside this home lived a man who looked a lot older than he should have. His skin sagged, his eyes drooped, his hair was brittle. Everyone was ready to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival except Li Wei. For Li, the festival only reminded him of heartache and loss. Tomorrow would mark the one year anniversary of the death of his wife. She had been sick for months, only getting worse day by day. No amount of medicine seemed to do the trick. Li's beautiful wife became ghostly pale, her usually sparkling brown eyes became clouded. No, the man couldn't remember anything else except Feng Mian's joyous presence suddenly being gone.

Li Wei gently ran his thumb over a beautiful painting of a dragon like creature. Feng Mian had been well known for her art. This particular piece was the last painting she had made before she passed. Li Wei still remembered what she had said before she had slipped away from him. "A guardian for you for when I'm gone." Lousy guardian if you asked Li. Sometimes he wondered if Feng Mian hadn't worked so hard on it, focusing all her energy into finishing it, if she would have been alive longer. At the same time, the man couldn't help but stare at it, though he couldn't figure out if it was because of hatred or longing. Perhaps both.

Despite his best efforts, Li Wei began to cry. He just couldn't hold his pain in anymore. His cheeks quickly became stained as his body slightly shook. His weeping was the only sound through out the house. Li Wei slowly was able to calm himself down. Feng wouldn't have wanted for him to cry for her, she'd have wanted him to celebrate. Wiping the tears off both his eyes and the painting, Li Wei placed the painting back on the canvas holder. He'd try to be happy tomorrow. For Feng's sake. He left the room where his wife had spent much of her time, the only room he let the sunlight reach, and entered the dark hallway that lead to thei- his bedroom. It was rare that Li Wei actually slept in his bed, if he slept at all really. The left side of it was undisturbed. His side of the bed had the covers set back a bit, ready for someone to slip in and snuggle up. The burrnette reluctantly shuffled into the sheets, careful to stay on his side of the bed. It took several hours, but eventually Li Wei fell asleep.

A loud crash woke the man up the next morning. Jolting into a sitting position, he warily eyed his bedroom door. Shuffling, sniffing, and more occasional bumps told him that he wasn’t alone. Tip toeing across the cold wooden floor, Li Wei gently gripping his bedroom door’s doorknob before whipping it open and letting out a fierce “Hah!”. The man’s tense posture reverted back to normal upon seeing that no one was on the other side. The noises had also stopped and a thick confusion fell upon Li Wei. An abrupt thump broke the silence and Li ran in its direction which landed him in Feng Mian’s Painting room. When he reached the room, the brunette immediately found a painting out of place. The dragon painting. It was laying face down on the floor. The man crouched next to it, gingerly flipping it over. He almost dropped it in surprise when he found that the other side was blank, save the background. The guardian was no where in sight.

The rustling of paper drew his attention away from the canvas and to a pile of sketching paper that was... moving? With a quick swipe,
