PROLOGUE ♛
Two sisters.
One throne.
Both born into royalty, the two sisters had always expected to get what they pleased. Not one person dared to utter, "No," to the princesses. The girls never had limits. Not until their parents passed in a devastating fire. Not a soul had a clue how the tragic incident occurred. Some speculated a murder. For others, it was just another accident to be marked into history. To the citizens of the country, however, there were greater matters to worry about.
The sisters were born on the same day, and had no brothers or older sisters. No one was there to claim the throne, apart from the siblings. To them, it was like battling over a toy their parents passed down to them. However, deep inside, both of the sisters knew a country was no matter to be toyed with. The country was already in a panicked frenzy without a clear ruler to restore order. People wondered among themselves, waiting for one of the sisters to step forward and take responsibility.
There was only silence from the sisters, and the country couldn't wait forever for a decision.

chapter one
Zora had always been terrible at coping. Especially now, when every newsletter headline read “King and Queen Killed In a Fire!” No matter where she turned, she couldn’t escape the tangled mess that waited before her. Just let this be some sort of sick nightmare, Zora would plead. Every move she made, eyes were watching and waiting for the next move. As royalty, Zora should’ve been used to this by now, though this seemed different. This time, her decisions affected her entire country.

Kearia held a blank expression when she had been informed of the news. She was, of course, deeply affected by this, but she refrained from letting her emotions seep out. Why show weakness in a time that she must be strong and resilient? She was required to put on a brave face for the country. It was going to be under her control, after all. Or, that was how she had believed things would play out for her.
