should he go? to discover the maestro of this beautiful symphony?
follow your heart. it was the words of someone beyond his memories, someone, he could barely remember. but, he could hear her. the voice in his head was soft, gently urging him, tugging him forward towards the valley that radiated the sound of a melody, beyond beauty. i’ll lead the way, my love. we’ll meet again, i promise.
but, there was something else that took up a song in his head, he could hear it. “tonight is the night….” the teller’s words rang in his ears, a vibrato in his midst.”it’s coming… it’s coming for you….”
something was chasing him. he knew it, he was sure of it.
so, he ran.
the swirl of darkness blinded him, he couldn’t see. no. it couldn’t be happening.
but, the teller had foretold this.
the voice was rising. rising in tempo, in elegance, in a beauty that he could’ve never imagined.
a soprano.
there was nowhere left to run, now. to hide.
perhaps, there had been nothing chasing him at all. maybe, just maybe, his own heart, driving him to the edge.
but, now, he was here, on the peak of a valley, cloaked with shadows, in the eyes of…
he remembered her, now.
“orpheus! come here! come here!” the melodic lyrics weaved in her voice had him trapped within the moment. what seemed to be the feathers of ravens danced amongst her pelt, and beautiful eyes that captivated the forest closed all around him.
“i’m coming, eileen!” his little songbird. his beautiful raven. there were so many words to describe who she was and what she meant to him. the caress of her tongue against his cheeks, blossomed a rose of affection for her in him. something had never felt for violia.
“sing with me.” her eyes were bright, round with a request, a wish that she wanted him to grant., but he couldn’t seem to.
“i can’t.” response strained, she was so close to him, enough for a kiss. the look in her eyes told him so many things, that he was her star-crossed lover, that nothing could separate them or pull them apart.
"go on, orpheus, i know you can."
with raven feathers framing her delicate features, she seemed like a picture. an imaginary cat of his dreams. except, she wasn’t. “eileen?” the name was bittersweet on his lips, so familiar, a word that he had forced himself to forget out of-
did she remember him?
“oh, orpheus, where have you been?” the longing in her beautiful eyes were softened with tears, her lyrical voice cracked with unimaginable sorrows. “i missed you so, so much.” elegant steps cradled her, closer to his fortress of shadows, such steps begging him to step out into the open. “you don’t have to hide anymore, love. be who you are… you don’t have to be afraid, anymore” with a gentle paw outstretched, the moonlight twinkled, effulgent as an angel’s wing along her back.
an angel and a demon. two lost souls, now, weaved together as one. the glisten of shadows had loosened its grip. and she could see him, now. with his crooked face, and his devilish eyes, but, it didn’t seemed to scare her. she was fearless.
“sing with me, orpheus. sing with me.”
a blue moon sonata. only once in eternity would there be a chance of this, two star-crossed lovers together on a night such as this. a night of doom. of death. with a werewolf’s call ringing in the air, something was out there, still and this was just a diversion. the beginning of the clash between realms.
the heavens were falling and the what lurked in the nethers was not.
