Pretty in Pink

Postby Ringo. » Sun Sep 08, 2019 4:39 am

Lady may seem like a sweet and gentle horse, but she isn't.
She came from a background filled with abuse and neglect.
She knew no better than how she was treated. It was all she knew.

In order to protect herself, she had to fight back. She bit everyone that came close to her.
She was frightened by every nose those humans made. She would kick them, pin them against walls and fences.
Chewed on the rope leads until they broke.

When she was old enough to be broken in they whipped her. Pulled on the halter too hard and choked on the bit.
The saddle was too small and dug into her back. Someone was over the weight limit and shouldn't have been riding her.
They screamed at her and called her a failure.

When they couldn't handle taking care of her anymore she was auctioned off.
She went to a family that had two little kids, 8 and 6 years old.
The kids yanked on her tail and pulled at her mane. They would dig their nails into her back as they tried to get on her back.
Lady had enough one day and bucked one of the kids off. The fall resulted in a broken arm.
      She was auctioned off again.

Every home she went to she didn't stay for more than 3 weeks. She was deemed as untrainable and aggressive.
Many homes considered putting her down.

Her mane and tail weren't always short. One time it was long and beautiful.
Long locks of gorgeous hair flowed in the wind.
Just like everything else, it was stripped away from her.
One of her homes chopped it off, her mane was very short and she couldn't see it anymore.
Her tail was too short to whip away the flies that landed in the middle of her back.
She wept for days after the haircut. It was the only thing she had left that reminded her that no one controls her.
That she's her own 'person' and she can do what she wants.

      It was all gone.
Her trust for any human disappeared like it never was there in the first place.

While moving from home to home, she lost most of her eye sight.
She could still see, but not as well.
She was auctioned off again when she couldn’t compete in shows due to her poor eyesight.

Lady was auctioned off to a girl no older than 25.
She was gentle and patient with the cremello horse.
She led Lady into a nice clean trailer that had food and water. She watched the grip get into the drivers seat.
Something about this girl was different, she didnt know what it was, but she knew she could trust her.

When they arrived at the ranch Lady was greeted by two stable hands.
They gently coaxed her out of the trailer without using a halter.
Lady could tell the two stable hands were men, she was scared. She started rearing and whinning.
The girl was able to calm the mare down and patiently and slowly led her to the bath station.
Lady loved baths and she was excited when bubbles started floating around. She jumped up to pop the bubbles.

When Lady was done getting cleaned she was introduced to the pasture that held other tolts.
They were beautiful and they looked friendly. Lady wasn’t happy though.
She was afraid and angry at tolts for having a better life than her.
She was jealous they didnt have to go through what she went through.

Lady stuck by herself for the rest of her time at her new home.
She never learned to trust anyone besides her handler, and that was enough for her.
She was content at her new home that didn’t abuse her to take her for granted.
Later on she was given the nickname ‘Pretty in Pink’ as she wore a lot of pink.
She mostly wore flower crowns made out of pink flowers. Her favourite accessory was always
a beautiful reef made out of pink and white flowers.
