As a Dog Dayzz player since August 09 (When DD was still in Alpha Testing) I've seen the many new and fun additions Tobias has added to the site in a few short months! With tons still to come! Right now we have many (albeit not all) of the purebred dog breeds recognized by the AKC. As well as tons of available designer/mixed breeds (currently only ones found on the Designer Dog Registry, with two exceptions) which can compete in a variety of sport shows! Alright, you say, what's the big deal then?
Well, the game-play is more involved than your average dog sim. DD does include genetics as do many dog sims these days, but ours is even more advanced with the option for genotyping for a couple extra PPz! (PPz/PawPrintz = USD purchased currency) as well as different influences of coat type, length, ect. That's not all! You have to actually /care/ for your dogs. You have to feed, water, play with, and walk your dogs each day, or else suffer the loss of your beloved canines to the rescue center. (Though you can "freeze" your account for a minimum two weeks for vacations, ect)
As well as there being the implement of having four flavors of food, with each dog (not breed or group) having a preference for that certain food flavor, which co-insides with a certain toy type they like. (Hint, Premium Dry (out of the three styles of food) is the best ;3) . But don't worry about it being hard to make money, you have the option (as a basic "Bronze" account) to choose a career path and open a business that helps keep the money flow going.
"But it looks to HARD!" you whine. It's not once you get the hang of it. And there are PLENTY of staff and members willing to help you at any time you need it! Heck, I've even donated money to players before when the site was much smaller, as well as having bought a friend of mine there a Year Upgrade because I knew she wouldn't get it any other way.
"Still not convinced...", Well think of it this way. You've probably joined many sim games that just don't quite "fit" because you feel lost and uncounted for in a sea of members. That is not how DD is. I have yet to see any other sim where the OWNER of the website was just as, if not more, involved with the community as most members. Tobias is truly the best sim-game owner I've ever ecountered. She checks the boards often to see what people want in the game, and tries her hardest to do it (if it's something the majority want). She's even added breeds on there that she's seen a handful of people want, simply because of how dedicated they'd be. And she even donated some of the proceeds of donations for October to the Breast Cancer Research foundation and had a skin themed around that for the month.
Some small details about the site:
Anyone who had a "Alpha" account (one made before Beta release) had the option for a Forever Upgraded/Gold Bone account [And some people who are too busy to care for dogs /every/ day are leaving, offering their accounts]
There is a message board/forum filled with boards for different things, including a 16+ board (set so anyone with a birthday making them younger than 16 can't even /see/ the board listed) for more "mature" topics and debates
There are still some breeds that aren't crazily high in the amounts owned, with many rescues for "adoption" or "foster".
There is a large community of active, helpful members and staff that want you to have the best experience possible
And I'll do a compare/contrast of the Bronze versus upgraded Silver bone accounts (Gold bone gets same as Silver);
Bronze keeps 1 puppy per litter / Silver keeps 2 puppies per litter
Bronze can have 1 job, 1 business / Silver can have 2 jobs, two separate businesses
Bronze can /not/ wear tags / Silver has tag availability.
Bronze can't access Importing Dogs, but Silver can, which all Import Dogs are always show quality (purebreds only) and typically have higher stats. Importing a dog costs 1PPz (.50 USD)
