Just going to piggyback off of this comment to throw some ideas out there. I definitely suggest using a basic pet website framework like this if you guys are planning to make a fully-functional and self-sustainable website. I'd also recommend learning some PHP (the coding language) or trying to find/recruit someone who knows their way around PHP. Most, if not all virtual pet sites I know about run on a PHP-based script. Chicken Smoothie does as well - Nick is the site coder and knows quite a bit about it, so if any of the staff for Willowtea are interested in getting the ball rolling again or setting up an actual site I'd see if you can try and contact him in some way, or look up some tutorials. Also, the 'coder' position that's up is most likely not going to help with the site at all. Chicken Smoothie forum posts are all BBCode, and an edited one at that - it doesn't include all of the functions that BBCode usually has, so your coders probably don't even know everything about BBCode. And BBCode is the simplest of simple. PHP is much more advanced - and it's likely you're not going to be able to find good coders from people using forum code.

Currently the idea for hosting Willowtea on a forum board (a proboards one too, on that note) is, honestly, going to get this site nowhere. As you could probably tell, Chicken Smoothie, Flight Rising, Neopets, ect. do not run solely on a forum. You need a basic interface to work with before you slot in a forum, because otherwise, the site is going to get too complex and messy for your users to find their way around. And because virtual pet websites get most of their traffic from young children, having a clunky and difficult-to-navigate site isn't going to retain their attention for long. Also probably part of why you have this thread on your site.

Consider setting up a site on 000webhost. There are a range of open-source Virtual Pet frameworks out there you can use to test the waters - most notably KittoKittoKitto (mentioned above) and Mysidia Adoptables, but if those aren't too appealing I'm sure there's some others out there. However I personally believe Mysidia Adoptables to be the best one to use. It's simple to set up, highly customizable, and is probably the best choice if you're considering expanding on what's already included in the code.

No pets have come out yet. At all, as far as I know. And I know why: you've got way too many pet options that your poor artists have to make. Here's the entire list that I've taken from your pet/artist info page. Chicken Smoothie has around 13 main species that come out every month and countless artists. Willowtea has around 35 different pet species and only 24 artists. For something that is running solely off of volunteers, most of them likely being young, I highly doubt that such an ambitious number of linearts will be successfully worked on by such a low number of artists.

I agree, and I apologize deeply for my inconvenient inactivity. Most artists have been too busy, sick, or inactive and haven't been able to finish first litters. I believe this is a fault on my part because I haven't been very clear about due dates. I myself have had life... and a couple deaths, overwhelmingly affect me in the past month or so. School is nearly out, and when I am done cramming for finals, and I get out of school on June 12th, I plan to put my foot down. I will have plenty of empty weeks this summer, and plan on using them to bring this website back out of the dumps. Unfortunately, to complete the reconstruction plan, all inactive staff will be asked about inactivity, and if they are too busy , they will have to be demoted. It is the only way to bring the activity levels of this website back up. For this reason I am also hiring new staff, and this is entirely open. Artist, Moderator, Basic Helper, all roles are open for application. Hopefully, with fresher staff, and less inactive staff, we will be able to bring Willowtea back. I deeply apologize for the inconveniences it may cause some when I remove the inactive staff. I do not want to remove any of you, but if you are unable to do your job you were hired for, it is probably for the best if you return to member status.

I sincerely hope this is being worked on still, because even though I've sounded critical throughout this post, I'm very interested in Willowtea's future and am really hoping it doesn't die off like most pet sites. Do some major fixing up, think about some things, and I'm positive Willowtea can rise above the rest.
