ive decided to back off on attacks and focus on revenges right now.
here's my dragon sketch! i always always prefer my sketches to my renderings.
i'm gonna focus on lighting for this one but it'll be tricky since the face is half bone and i've never shaded white before, especially not treating the right side as the intense source of light. so. we'll see.

This is my first year participating in Art Fight and I am blown away by all of the talent that the community has! It has been so nice to not only learn, but also participate in such a warm and encouraging community. Everyone has been killing it so far!

Is anyone having trouble.. erm… receiving attacks? I barely get attacked first ><. None of my friends have been attacked first either. Last ‘first strike’ I got was on the 9th… it’s getting a little demotivated to keep attacking random people from the recent attacks tab and nobody gives me the time of day!
I’ve received more attacks than my friends, so if u wanna do a good deed I’d love it if you could surprise them :’)?

I think I've hit some of that burnout- and I know a few others have as well, slow times with art and slowly coming to recover from it. Mad respect for the pacing! That's tough to do imo, brain is just like, gotta gogogogogo do aRT

Been slowing down with my attacks and that has helped a bit with the fatigue, 63 attacks so far and working on 64th (this one is gonna take so much time to render uwuaaagh). Previously I was doing like, 5 attacks a day- I've since cut it down to 1, maybe 2 depending on the energy and if I can do it in my silly goofy style.

It may just be universal burnout happening, is what I keep telling myself at least. Advertising here is a good first step (me slowly collecting stuff in this thread to attack)! If you have discord, I know the official ArtFight discord has the target-hunt channel (but that channel moves by SO quickly), and other sites as well. Flight Rising, PixelCatEnd, stuff like that. Other than other sites, it's tough trying to get yourself out there and be like "yooo i have an account, lets fight!" sorta thing.

Oh! I think some people also use their followers list / follower notification to figure out who to attack, maybe mass following would help? Personally I like keeping my following list small and for folks I have some knowledge of- Sorta thing. (Maybe that's why it feels slow for me hmmhmm)

A lot of first attacks on me have been with friends I know that are also participating, followed by people I don't know so well who I think just happened to stumble upon my account? Or maybe it's the numerous places I've been plopping my Artfight link, who knows?

Honestly I wish there was some kind of search system on the site that lets me look for people that don't have a lot of attacks, or high attack and low defense ratio. The whole theme and points thing is a nice little side thing to think about, but I mainly like reaching out and plopping art on people as a "tadaaa" sorta thing (though I have a gut feeling some people are annoyed with my style with how much it skrungles and simplifies). Finding the right characters and users to attack takes up much more time than it should imo.

I wish you and your friends luck though! Sometimes it all comes down to the right place/right time- I think

oh man, i've been desperately wanting to hop back into it—i have several wips under my belt and over 90 bookmarked characters—but rl has been keeping me since friday. hopefully i can get some art done this week c:

Honestly, yeah! This is only my second year participating and out of 13 attacks I've received, 10 have been revenges—only 3 have been bona fide attacks and one of those was from a friend. I've made 32 attacks total (across both years), in contrast. But I honestly don't much mind; I like keeping that battle ratio above 50%, if I can, and though last year I had a link to my   profile in my sig, I haven't made it particularly easy to find this year c:

If you wanna get revenged, look for people who say they'll revenge and have battle ratios of over 50% for the current art fight; I find that fighters like that are the most likely to attack back! Also make sure if you have human characters you attacks fighters who will draw humans, etc.

Echoing what a few others have said, without any friends participating or many places to "advertise" myself I have not been attacked first so far this year. Thankfully I don't feel too down about it - I like to prowl newly posted characters and fandoms/tags I'm comfortable drawing and choosing characters with no attacks on them yet.
One thing I found kinda funny is that all the revenges I've gotten so far were depicting the same character! I'm happy her design resonated with many people - and she's a vain and evil character so she's happy for sure - but I feel a little bad for my other characters with no art yet

I'm actually not burned out yet since I've been working and haven't been able to draw as much as I wanted. Thankfully I'm off work for the last two weeks of July so I'm looking forward to really going all out.

I really liked seeing everyone's recent attacks/revenges so here is my contribution:
Recent Attack - I was iffy on drawing feathered wings but I think I was able to simplify them well enough!

I haven't felt burnt out but I do feel that lack of motivation. I've set myself a goal to try and do 1 piece a day (except when working 10 hour shifts lol) and that's been reasonable for me so far, yet I sometimes struggle to even do that. Most of my attacks take 3 to 4 hours to finish so maybe that's the issue haha.

Art fight has so many participants that it's hard to get surprise attacks without being known somewhere. If you're not already part of some community it can absolutely be a struggle, and I do think that's very sad. This is my third year participating but only my first year where there are almost as many surprise attacks as revenge art. Just keep at it! You're bound to get some followers eventually and have more art pour in.

Can't really share my last attack as it contains body horror, but this attack was pretty neat imo!
