Should I buy extra Halloween pets or trade my candy for other pets..?

I alwaysget extras, and try to save them cause later on they will become rare.

Anyway, I wanted to ask, are the items still gonna be there and will we be able to trade our candy for them after the hunt for candy ends? I want to get my extras (I already got one of everything, now I'll just get a double of the stuff I like most. :3), but I want to hit my limit first. D:
