The game is completely random. Both how many hits you get, and the rewards you get from the game, are random. There are no strategies or skill involved in hitting the bottles/cans.

Will free pets be adoptable again at the end of event? Free ponies from start of event are so hard to find, and I missed first 3 days
Something like that was done in one of previous events, but I can't remember what it was.

if I recall correctly it is done in nearly every summer event. When no more new pets are being released many of the adoption places release a random pet of the ones you could adopt beforehand. In that case more pets from the first days would be released

they're available for 1 root beer token each in the plains!
