I doubt they'll be used for anything else in the event.

I disagree. A lot of tokens get swapped around as thing progress. I am sure other parts of the event will require pearls.

It is still the first day. Events usually last 7-10 days if I remember correctly. There will be plenty more pets! :3
I always recommend keeping all tokens until the end, even if it's difficult 8D

Especially the pets that you can get on the first day usually end up being common, because you can always get them (during the event)
