2022 Halloween Event - Casual Chat V.1 [read first post]

So now that it's over, I just want to introduce this guy:


Pet's name: Logan

I made Logan specifically for Lights On, Lights Off, but because of my work situation, personal life, and the new vet tech course I have been taking and studying for, I completely missed out. I was very excited to write about him, but instead was writing school assignments. T-T

So here is Logan. He's the equivalent of an eight or nine year old boy who thought his costume was the most ingenious thing ever invented, and he is way too loud and way too proud about it. I planned to write a whole bit about him putting this outfit together for ages just for Halloween this year, running to each house with way too much energy, and trying to truly breathe fire and fly because he is the cooliest, bestiest "steampunk ninja dragon" that ever did live.

And since I didn't actually get to do any of that for the event, he's mad at me and is demanding I give him all my candy while also showing him off to the world.

I hope y'all enjoy him. He's very, very proud of this costume.

I’m so excited for rarities to come out, I’m so curious what the dragon will be! I got it in the 200 and somethings but I think it’ll be rare!

What should I use my residual tokens on? Aside from the gorgeous bog cats what are peoples' favourite pets in terms of visuals?

I've clicked over 210 banners and still haven't got a single banner pet from them yet. Thankfully I've found people kind enough to trade for the rats, but I've lost all hope for the dragon or getting a pet from the banner in general. I swear to god, something's broken.

Anyone know why the banner dragon is impossible to get - not had him in banners or trades even though I offered 15 tokens - not sure his worth or value but guessed that would be reasonable? Am already at 280 banners so have not got many banners to go and less chance to get him. Wished they let more people get him on Halloween as a special gift or something in the banners by upping it a bit so more people get their chance to get him.

I think it's a few things.
1. They're slightly rarer than other bannerpets which are usually harder to get your hands on than say free or token pets
2. There's less time to get one because it was released a few days into the event
3. People who get one know it might be their only one so they don't trade it
4. People started offering huge overpays (I've seen trades where people are giving multiple rares from 2010 plus recent storepets which is NUTS to me)
5. Because of this, most people who have an extra or are willing to trade their dragon look for these types of crazy offers. Honestly, it's frustrating but it's hard to blame them, I remember a few years ago as a total newbie I was so excited at the prospect of getting even 1 rare because all I had were commons and like 2-3 uncommons in my entire collection.

It happens with most events tbh, there's a couple of outcomes people start trading eyewatering amounts of rares, VRs and CS for, as they panic towards the end of the event trying to get a complete set. These pets are never more than a rare and a few times have only been uncommons.

There is also the fact that when they first came out, everyone wanted one immediately. But since there are a lot of people who want complete sets (plus it is a nice design/popular breed), you were either waiting until someone got two, or trying to convince someone that you were over-offering and that they could get it back cheaper later. Of course, the higher offers went, the more concerned people would be that they wouldn't be able to trade back for the pet again later. It is hard to fight the knee jerk reaction but usually these type of pets will be easier to get after the event.
