Sadly this is a tough issue, but because you're account was made in december its highly unlikely youd be able to adopt on the 18th. You're account is simply too new, in my understanding.

Unfortunately you won't be able to adopt any re-releases on the 18th. But there's always next year! You're only "banned" from adopting re-releases if you joined after a certain point of the year, closer to December or in December, after that you can adopt the re-releases just the same as anyone else. I know it's kind of a bummer, but staff is just trying to keep things fair for everyone.

We don't actually know the exact join date limit for adopting from the December 18th boxes; so, while it is likely not a large limit (multiple months), some of the more recent users will likely not know whether they fall within the limit until they attempt to adopt on that date. ^^

For your first question, the format of adopting has shifted a few times over the years!
Last year, there were three separate boxes that were separated by "rarity tiers" - each user could adopt one outcome from each box. c:

The Same reason The Last Advent adopt on The 25th extends for a few more days,
Many people celebrate from 24-26 Christmas and May Not come online, so The rereleases are placed earlier to avoid any collision with The celebration and give everyone The Chance to adopt.

So I was wondering if there's a chance of adopting a rerelease pet, and after a rarity update, that rerelease becomes uncommon. I know there's varying levels of rarity like two pets can both be "Rare" but one could be closer to the Uncommon end of Rare while the other is neutral Rare or even closer to VR. I also understand that they don't release too many of the same pet, but after years of doing rereleases, could that change a pet's rarity or would they be less likely to rerelease that pet? I hope this isn't too confusing, and thank you for any response!
