It both has its pros and cons. Personally I find it more practical to save up tokens until all the releases are out and the banner hunt is over. That way you'll know how many outcomes there are and how many tokens you have in total, and can budget how much you want to spend on each prize.
You'll probably also find more people with pets you still need once most users have spent their tokens to stock up their trade fodder.

If you mainly want to grab the prizes as trade fodder instead of plain swaps for other event pets, though, it can be useful to get them as they release, when more people will still be looking to trade for them.


...That said, it's never too early to give y'all a fair warning - if you save up your tokens until the last few days, don't hesitate with trading them in for too long Every single event we get a bunch of people thinking they had more time left and then they end up with dozens or even hundreds of tokens gone to waste.

The event releases typically run until Halloween or 1-2 days after; the news will update to let users know when the last releases have happened, though!

Hello! Welcome to CS! You won’t know the rarity until the event is over, also they will add more pets every day until the final day!

Token events are normally very simple (the only 'complex' event would be the summer events, since they involve a storyline and various NPCs). You can collect banner tokens every 20 mins, and trade them in for token pets on the event page. Every day of the event new token pets and/or free pets will be made available on that page. There are also often banner items and/or banner pets that will occasionally be dropped from the banner instead of tokens (we do not always have both banner items and pets, but always one or other other, right now we already have the candy corn banner items, so we may not have banner pets this year).

That is all that is involved in collecting the event pets. Once the event nears the end we normally have several extra days to collect tokens, then a few more to trade them in after the event has ended (when these start there will be a post about it on the front page of the site detailing how long you have, and the event page will have a countdown until token trade-ins end).

If you miss anything, you can always use the trade board, and we have a swap thread there specifically for trading for halloween event items and pets.

Some of what you asked is answered above. Additionally, as mentioned the rarity is not determined until after the event is over, though generally speaking, free pets usually range from very common to uncommon, and token pets range from uncommon to rare. If there are banner pets, they normally range from uncommon to rare. More pets are added each day of the event.

Does it display one less of a specific token, or is your total token amount lower than your banner count? If the latter is the case, it's probably because you found one of the candy corn banner items. They count towards your banner total, too c:
In doubt, check your trade history to see if you already traded tokens /banner items to someone, because the counter keeps track of all your clicked banners, not just what's left in your inventory.
