As of right now there isn't one, no! In the past they've been "activated" by events in the storyline later on in the event, so make sure to check back with locations each day as one might appear yet. (:

Any and all pets and items stay available until the very end of the event, so yeah, you can still trade in for them on the very last day if you so wish c:

If you do the trade-in at Gerlind's home, she will give you one of two different looking baby kittens. These kittens are still growing, and so far we don't know if each of them only has one set adult stage, or if they might end up having several outcomes each.
"Split" normally refers to when two or more adult stages grow from the same middle stage, so it's a bit of a misnomer with these kittens, since newborns tend to have a habit of growing into different outcomes^^

If you use event tokens in a dress-up scene, can you still trade them away to get the new pets? The herbs are so pretty but I don't want to accidentally be unable to trade them away!

Yeah, you can still trade them even if they are used in a dressup so no need to worry there
