Because bowls are notoriously awful for fish, and any fish, no matter the size, should be housed in a properly heat regulated and filtered tank at the very least.
Goldfish may actually prefer a pond to a tank, though, as they actually need quite a lot of space! There are some fancy goldfish breeds that do well in tanks, but absolutely not bowls!^^

oh- that makes a lot of sense, thinking back on when we owned turtles n fish we only ever had tanks. ty for explaining! I'm just dumb and didn't clock that oop-
