It creeped me out when I first saw it. Just the thought of meeting it in a pitchblack forest at night...
A living wood log, looking like a horse. Trotting out between the trees. Noticing you and staring straight at you as it wants to eat your flesh. Just waiting for the right moment to attack.
Sorry if this scares anyone. But that was my immediate impression when I saw it :D
That is why it creeped me out. Just the mere thought of meeting it was scary enough.
I wouldn't imagine they'd eat meat. I mean, they're living trees shaped like horses.. Neither of those organisms are associated with meat eating after all :P
It would certainly still be a terrifying creature to come across in a dimly lit forest... x.X

Why should a creature not be a meat-eater just because it doesn't look like it?
Besides that, I don't see this outcome as
living. For me it looks like a log that somehow turned into a creature.
In the south german folkore exists a creature called "
Wolpertinger" that looks mostly like a hare but eats meat. There are enough other examples of creatures that look harmless but are carnivores (and potentially eat humans, too).
Anyway, this log horse creature is among my favs. It was the perfect embodyment of halloween for me.
