2024 Summer Event: Casual Chat

So ignoring the bad stuff it sounds like.

When you put it that way, yeah it does seem like that :/.

We are a children's pet collecting site :thumbup: We are not equipped to deal with the actual horrors of the wild west told through the medium of fun little pets you can dressup. We've instead done our best to ensure the event is fun and interesting, while remaining respectful of stories we have no place being the ones to tell.

Oh, I completely understand why you'd do it in this day and age.
I don't necessarily agree shielding kids against history/reality is the right thing to do.

And second of all, I'm also just concerned the native Americans are left out completely from the story of this event like they never even existed.
The natives have always been my favorite part of a Wild West theme, they have such a beautiful culture. It would be such a shame if they weren't represented at all in this event.

(Oh and I'm saying this as a European. This is not part of my culture or history, neither the settlers nor the natives, past or present)

As this is a discussion thread I would like to toss out my opinion on this- and please let me know if I come across any type of way because I’m not meaning to sound rude or anything it’s just solely my opinion and feel absolutely free to disagree or debate it! -

I completely understand both sides of the debate here on the theme, but I feel like we should at least consider that at the end of the day- this is a game, it’s just some pixels (that I love don’t get me wrong) and this is just supposed to be a fun little interactive event we get, it’s not meant to have some deeper meaning like I feel a lot of people are taking from this, it’s just supposed to be a game. I do understand that the “Wild West” in real history has much controversy and other things about it but that is an adult discussion rather than acknowledging that this event has NOTHING to do with the actual history. It’s also not some crazy idea that it’s the chosen theme, it’s a very popular (at least in the US) theme for all kinds of things, and for the most part nobody doing that has any mal intentions. To be honest I’m pretty sure every game I’ve ever played has had something similar. (My brain is specifically saying poptropica right now lol)
Once again this is not to discredit any other argument it’s simply my opinion- but I do feel that trying to find some deeper meaning to it is only reaching and trying to cause issues where there really are none that need to be made

Please feel free to disagree with me, I love hearing others thoughts as well and know that I am not trying to come off any sort of way here!

I've never been a fan of US-centric themes, and unfortunately I can't disassociate this specific theme from brutality, colonization and genocide. I'll still collect all the pets because I'm a collector, but yeah. Not a fan.

Does anyone have any idea what the banner limit is starting at this event? Or do we not know until someone hits it

It's usually 200 if I remember correctly. If many users hit the limit it gets bumped up to 250, or even 300, near the end.

I try to pace myself cause everyday there are new things and there's a chance of a banner pet, which I won't be able to try for if I hit the limit very early. There have been events with multiple banner pets too, I've learned my lesson. 😆

Wild west was the theme I was hoping for! Wasn't expecting it to actually be the theme so it's quite a nice surprise! I can't wait to see all the outcomes, crossing my fingers and hoping for some cowboy cats!

Yeah, "banner" pets during the summer event typically comes from the secondary token place. We haven't unlocked that place yet but I'm sure there will be pets from it once we do ^.^
