But then would that mean the staff sightings of tentacles are fake news too?
Err... maybe??
But I mean the staff and mods aren't characters. They can't be the culprits because they don't have characters in this.
I guess they can use their names as a random person who witnesses clues... but they can't do the crime or whatever.
Avian had said yesterday that
Tess said he gave bad packing advice though. So it's still possible mods and staff do exist in this world since Tess does.

I'm starting to see why it may have been cuttler.
the red uniform that had been freshly cleaned makes sense. it could be to hide evidence and squid residue since the anonymous person said the culprit wore red
cuttler is the only one that could have a key besides the cub. but the cub is too young to be responsible for a key so that takes her out.
cuttler could have hired innocent people to make distractions to lead people onto different paths so that he could play the innocent cop trying to figure out the case. for example, the shady pearl dealings etc. it's a perfect delusion, trying to play the good guy so you don't get suspected.
also, the inside outside job could be correlated with cuttler and shelly. cuttler doesn't ask for seaweed and shells but shelly does. he could have asked shelly for seaweed and shells and in the result while the case is going on, shelly gets more business.
the tentacles already make sense because he's a squid.

I found the font that CS is using for the information on the board! If anyone has any suggestions for anything else to fill in to the torn note, let me know! I'm currently experimenting with other words that might fit in to the torn area. Might give us clues?

But remember, clothes can't create tentacle prints, only real tentacles can.

He could've been planning something from the beginning
I think he always looked nervous because he hears something (what he thinks might be a creature in danger) in the kelp forest.

the original pet doesn't look like that though

They could have edited the pet for the event, they did that with plenty of pets before. I think Squiddy looked nervous before the crime happened, but it's possible he may not have.

aaA gotcha!
Also, the topic of pearls seems to keep coming up under the breaking news sign. I still have my suspicions on Panopea, however the cuttler arguments seem very convincing as well. Both would have keys to the courtyard, but what would be the motive.. I understand Panopea's potential jealousy, and it would potentially take away her customers (two different types of entertainment), but neither seem very convincing. I don't have a good enough read on her personality to be more than suspicious. Cuttler, on the other hand, seems immensely suspicious, however, I don't know what his motive would be. But whY DO THE PEARLS KEEP COMING UP THEN??
I mostly just come on for Oekaki nowadays, not super active! Feel free to shoot me a DM though if you need anything! I sometimes come back on and check!

Is the breaking news important? It's worked for the past 2 events for me but this year it's broken. ): I can only see the top half of the words and the thing resets after 1.5 messages to repeat again, like a broken record. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm on mobile if that helps. Does the breaking news help at all regarding the investigation?

I mean that ever since the event started, they could've plotted to tuin the jamboree (maybe there's some reason they don't want to be at the Lost City?)
There isn't really any motive though

i don't think this helps, but has anyone thought of steves octopus? he's able to go fast and can probably get through a door without the key? since octopuses are, well, octopuses. although i haven't read everything and this is just a random guess. good luck!
