I have a thought:

Mr herringbone was moving the statue to the courtyard for the jamboree, which was made of the various tokens that the tourists gave him. The princess, who happened to possibly be sleepwalking or sneaking around at night was wandering towards the statue. She woke up from her daze to see the big statue made of seaweed and shells (primarily green, and possibly monster-like).
She got startled, ran, and crashed into the instruments damaging them before fleeing into the night. The noise might have been the instruments crashing and breaking, or maybe someone shouting in surprise over the little princess running away

What if somebody was moving the Statute and it fell and broke a whole to of stuff multiple times because the person moving it was to small r clumsy?

But then where is the statue that broke the stuff now?
How do you explain the weapons used? Seaweed, shells, also finding wood?

The statue is only just now something "new" and no-one but Herringbone knows about it.

Statue has got to be that shadowy figure in the photo. I thought it looked seaweedy when I saw it.

That could be possible, but Herringbone doesn't have a key to the courtyard, does he?

Okay, I'm like 99.99% sure it's Squiddy now.
1. he's red.
2. he has tentacles.
3. he's acting shifty and won't accept any interviews.
4. the princess reports a "green monster" and now there's photo proof of the monster.
5. what does the monster look like? It looks like kelp. who is always near the kelp? Squiddy.
6. He has free time. What does he do when the "strong ocean current" is in the kelp forest?

any other theories on the green monster though?

I have serious suspicions of Squiddy!

Right, so Avian, Totoro and Squiddy were with the conductor right? But wasn't Squiddy alone in the sea at the time? Since she saw Panopea out diving? If she was with Avian, Totoro and the conductor, why couldn't the other three confirm the time Squiddy saw Panopea?

This is my take on it. Squiddy is pretty shifty, and can't back herself up.

As for the green monster, it's probably a disguise. That's what I think. So it would have to be someone who doesn't fit in. So probably someone who's on holiday there?
