━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

angels [good]
● a lower level soldier of heaven, humanoid with only one pair of wings. make up the heavenly garrisons lead by the archangels. in some book series, they can create vampires by giving blood to a human.
⊙ mostly unknown, has grace which can heal injuries, seems to be very strong and fast.
⊘ can be trapped by a ring of holy fire, killed by holy fire and angel blades/swords, stronger angels can smite lesser ones.

xx⋇ popular in the tv show "supernatural", also known in the "guild hunter series" by nalini singh. [warning; 18+ only]

archangel [good]
● heaven's strongest warriors, can have up to six pairs of wings. they lead garrisons of lesser angels when in battle.
⊙ extremely powerful, manipulate minds of lesser beings, they are the holy wrath of heaven.
⊘ mostly unknown, can still trapped/killed by holy fire, only an archangel blade is strong enough to kill them regular angel blades are nothing.

xx⋇ popular in the tv show "supernatural", also known in the "guild hunter series" by nalini singh. [warning; 18+ only]

avian hybrids [neutral]
● the hybridization of bird and human genetics in laboratories. appear to be humans with a single pair of flight capable wings which can fold into 'grooves' on either side of their spine. not at all related to heavenly angels.
⊙ unknown, seem to still be evolving, but several have been known to have mutations/powers.
⊘ also unknown, many exhibit fears related to laboratories or hospitals.

xx⋇ created by james patterson for the "maximum ride" book series.

breeds [neutral/good]
● another hybridization of human and animal genetics in an inhumane attempt to create the perfect obedient super-soldier. breeds can be of many different genetic combinations instead of just avian, such as tiger, lion, cougar, panther, jaguar, coyote, wolf, and also avians. they appear as regular humans, though have 'animalistic' features such as sharper cheekbones or tilted eyes. after they were discovered, 'breed rights' organizations were created and a war against the scientists was started in the shadows. breeds are still hunted and killed though they have freedom.
⊙ heightened senses such as hearing, smell, taste, and sight. they are very family oriented and will die to protect both their mates and families.
⊘ they are still haunted by their lives in the laboratories leading to night terrors. can be killed like any human though it takes more.

xx⋇ created by lora leigh for the "breed series" [warning; 18+ only]

demons [evil]
● the dark spawn of lucifer himself, they dwell in the depths of hell and are the ones to torment the souls of the damned. often walk the earth to cause mischief and torment.
⊙ stronger than a human, but lesser demons are still weak.
⊘ easily killed by demon blades, can be excised from their human vessels, can be trapped in a devil's trap.

xx⋇ popular in the tv show "supernatural".

elemental [often neutral/good]
● they are often seen as either simple humans with affinities for the elements, or they are mutants who have developed the powers. there are many kinds of depictions of the species, but many seem to agree that the elementals control the elements with their emotions, such as fire being triggered by anger or ice being triggered by fear.
⊙ depends on the veiw point, but are often seen as regular humans with control over elements, their control being their only strength.
⊘ easily killed like any other human

xx⋇ depicted in many movies, books, and tv shows such as "the last airbender" or the "house of night" book series by pc cast

eraser [evil]
● the hybridization of human and lupine genetics though they seem to be able to shift partially into monstrous wolf-like beasts as seen with humanoid werewolves, but are not related to the werecreatures. created for the "maximum ride" series by james patterson to hunt down the avian hybrids that had escaped their laboratories.
⊙ mostly unknown, seem to be stronger and faster than a normal human.
⊘ also unknown, act like soldiers and often don't think on their own.

xx⋇ created for the "maximum ride" series by james patterson.

fae/faeries [unknown]
● the general title for most magical creatures such as nixies, pixies or piskies, brownies, selkies, satyrs, mermaids, kelpies, hobgoblins, and boggarts. many appear human with pointed ears and often other odd qualities. faeries are very cunning and are often seen as tricksters or con-artists, and though they can't lie, they will often give indirect answers to get around the truth. there are several courts, but the seelie [bright] and unseelie [dark] courts are the strongest and are often warring with each other.
⊙ stronger than a normal human, uses magic, mostly depends on the subspecies i.e kelpies can transform from man to horse to lure people to their deaths while mermaids have tails of a fish.
⊘ cannot lie [but get around it by saying half truths], wrought iron is toxic to them as well as salt, holy water [if ingested], and rowan wood. there is also power in their names, if someone uses it, they are forced to do as commanded.

xx⋇ very popular in the tv show "shadowhunters" which is based off the "mortal instruments" book series by cassandra clare.

fallen angel [often evil]
● an angel or archangel that has fallen from the grace of heaven. they often loose their grace and wings, but often the more powerful keep them. their reasons for falling are unique to each angel, though it is often due to the angel falling in love with a human.
⊙ still stronger than humans, but are often weaker than the angels due to them being cut off from the power of heaven.
⊘ they are more mortal than other angels and are killed a bit easier, though are still harder to kill than humans.

xx⋇ very popular in the tv series "supernatural" as well as the "hush hush" book series by becca fitzpatrick.

graceling [depends]
● a human with mismatched eyes and some kind of magical superpower such as super strength or mind reading. they are often slaves to those who wish to use them for their own gain.
⊙ depends on their powers, some can be useless while others are extremely powerful.
⊘ they are still human and are easily killed, unless they have a power that keeps them alive or makes them stronger.

xx⋇ created for the "graceling realm" series by kristin cashore.

guardians [often good]
● unlike werewolves and other shapeshifters, guardians were created by the magic of the keepers, the powerful warlocks who control them. they behave like most werewolves with strong family ties and loyal packs. each pack is bound to a keeper's family and used as protection against dark forces.
⊙ pros
⊘ cons

xx⋇ books/movies

name [rating]
● definition
⊙ pros
⊘ cons

xx⋇ books/movies

clan rank descriptions;
Code: Select all
Credit goes to: http://warriors.wikia.com/wiki/General_Clan_Information

Leader:
A Clan leader is charged with the responsibility to watch over and manage an entire Clan, maintaining discipline, order, and protection. Leaders are normally granted nine lives and a new name with the ending "-star" (e.g. Firestar, Bluestar) in a ceremony where nine StarClan cats come to them in a dream at the Moonstone/Moonpool. However, a leader may not receive all nine lives if the previous leader of his or her Clan is still alive; in this instance, a leader will have a life taken off the original total of nine for every life the previous leader still possesses. Sometimes StarClan will not accept a leader, if this happens then the Clan is usually thrown into turmoil.

Deputy:
The deputy is the second-in-command to the leader, and may be considered an apprentice to the art of leading the Clan. They serve in the leader's place in situations where the leader is unable to fulfill their duties. They are in charge of organizing patrols and they are often called on by the leader for advice, but other than that, they retain the normal duties of a warrior.

To become a deputy, a cat must have trained at least one apprentice. Upon the leader's death, they become the leader and go to the Moonstone/Moonpool so StarClan can grant them nine lives. Deputies may also retire and give up their place as deputy if they wish.

Medicine Cat:
The medicine cat serves the Clan as both their spiritual leader and healer, making them akin to the idea of a 'medicine man' in a tribal society. In addition to their responsibilities to their Clan, they have responsibility to one another and StarClan. They carry out their responsibilities to StarClan once every half-moon, meeting together to discuss matters privately and share dreams with StarClan. Clan leaders often rely on them to carry messages from StarClan, as medicine cats have a link no other cat has to the deceased.

As a healer, they gather herbs and dispense them as an apothecary would. They handle diagnosis and treatment of both illness and injury for all the cats in the Clan.

In their role as spiritual leader, they teach the code, interpret omen and prophecy, and generally serve the Clan as a conduit between the earthly cats and their ghostly counterparts.

As a medicine cat, they are not allowed to have a mate or kits, but this rule has been broken by certain medicine cats. Medicine cats also exist outside of typical Clan rivalries in order to treat all cats fairly.

Medicine Cat Apprentice:
A medicine cat apprentice is the cat that is being trained to follow in the pawsteps of the medicine cat. They learn healing and spiritual lore from the medicine cat. Medicine cat apprentices also accompany their mentors in their visit to the Moonstone/Moonpool every half-moon to receive dreams from StarClan.

Frequently, a medicine cat apprentice who has full training will be given a warrior name ("-paw" replaced with another ending); however, medicine cat apprentices remain apprentices even when fully trained so long as the current medicine cat is still practicing the arts.

At the time the old medicine cat either dies or steps down, the medicine cat apprentice becomes a full medicine cat, somewhat like the leader/deputy relationship. When the apprentice becomes the full medicine cat then she/he  can have an apprentice of their own.

Warrior:
A warrior is a cat trained in the arts of fighting and hunting. Warriors make up the bulk of a Clan, and provide that Clan with the protection and food supply that keeps it safe and well-fed. Typically, a cat is made a warrior at or over the age of twelve moons.

In their oath to become a warrior, they promise to "uphold the warrior code and protect and defend their Clan, even at the cost of their life." Warrior dens are very often near the front of the Clan, where they can protect the rest of their Clan from attacks. There are also senior warriors, older, respected warriors, mentioned to have a good bond with the Clan's leader.

Queen:
A queen is a she-cat nursing or expecting kits. Their primary task during this time is the raising of their kits. Some queens stay in the nursery after they have kits. They are thought to do this because they feel they can help the nursing queens. Some queens, do not feel suited for Clan life aside from helping the other queens. They most often help other queens when no milk is available, or when the mother is ill/dead. Kits are protected from attacks and the nursery is often situated at the back of the camp, away from the entrance.

Elder:
An elder is a retired warrior, deputy, queen, medicine cat, or leader who is too old or not in suitable shape to continue with their duties. Elders are taken care of by the whole Clan, and are given respect for the time they have served as warriors. They are responsible for taking the body of a dead cat out to be buried. Some cats don't become an elder only because of old age; if there is ever a condition which prevents the cat from fulfilling their duties to their Clan, it usually leads to the cat's decision of retiring.

Apprentice:
An apprentice is a cat in training to become a warrior. Their names end in the word "-paw" (e.g. Tawnypaw, Bramblepaw, Firepaw etc). Most usually are at or over the age of six moons. They have a mentor appointed to them at their ceremony and most days are taken out battle training or hunting. They are also given the task of cleaning out bedding and removing Elders' ticks and fleas. Apprentices are not allowed to have a mate or kits, likely because of their young age or not to interrupt their training.

Kit:
A kit is a cat who has not been made an apprentice yet. Their names always end in "-kit" (e.g. Dovekit, Lionkit, Blossomkit). Most often, they are under the age of six moons, though sometimes they are held back from being an apprentice for a certain amount of time, sometimes due to injury or misbehaving. They stay in the camp and are forbidden to leave it, unless accompanied by an older cat, such as a warrior, a medicine cat, or any kind of apprentice.

■ Belly Rake - A fight-stopper. Slice with unsheathed claws against the soft flesh of the opponent's belly. If you're pinned down, the belly rake quickly puts you back into control.
■ Front Paw Blow - Frontal attack. Bring your front paw down hard on your opponent's head. Claws sheathed.
■ Front Paw Strike/Forepaw Slash - Frontal attack. Slice downward with your front paw at the face or body of your opponent.
■ Killing Bite - A death blow to the back of the neck. Quick and silent and sometimes considered dishonorable. Used only as a last resort.
■ Leap-and-hold - Ideal for a small cat facing a larger opponent. Spring onto opponent's back and grip with unsheathed claws. Now you are beyond the range of the opponent's paws and in position to inflict severe body wounds. A group of apprentices can defeat a large and dangerous warrior in this way. Watch for the drop-and-roll counter move, and try to jump free before you get squashed.
■ Partner Fighting - Warriors who have trained and fought together will often fall instinctively into a defensive position, each protecting each other's back while fending off an opponent on either side. Slashing, clawing, and leaping together, battle pairs can be a whirlwind of danger for attackers.
■ Play Dead - Effective in a tight situation, such as when you are pinned. Stop struggling and go limp. When your opponent relaxes his grip, thinking you are defeated, push yourself up explosively. This will throw off an unwary opponent and put you in attacking position.
■ Scruff Shake - Secure a strong teeth grip in the scruff of your opponents neck; then shake violently until he or she is too rattled to fight back. Most effective against rats, who are small enough to throw. A strong throw will stun or kill them.
■ Tail Yank - Grab your opponent's tail and yank it with such force your opponent is thrown off balance.
■ Teeth Grip - Target your opponent's extremities- the legs, tail, scruff or ears- and sink in your teeth and hold. This move is similar to the leap-and-hold except your claws remain free to fight.
■ Upright Lock - Final, crushing move on already weakened opponent. Rear up on back legs and bring weight down on opponent. If opponent does the same, wrestle and flip him under you. This makes you vulnerable to the belly rake, so it takes great strength and speed.
■ Half-Turn Belly Rake - Turn onto your side, slip under the opponent's belly, rake it with your claws, then swiftly turn back onto all fours out from under your opponent.
■ Badger Defense: Leap over opponent, turn on your back legs and bite opponent's leg. Used only when fighting badgers.
■ Duck and Twist: Simple defensive move. The cat ducks then twists around, rolling over onto his/her back, and then springs to their paws.

were-cat info;
Code: Select all
Becoming the leader (Alpha) in a Were-cat pride is a different process than in Werewolf packs or other Were-creature groups. Were-cat prides are normally started with a single Tom and a Tabby that the Tom has either taken by force or has bonded with and ran-away with her. The Tom is the Alpha with his Tabby as the Dam, or mother cat, and they will normally have about 4-5 sons before having a daughter. The daughter will be the one that the parents will groom and teach how to lead instead of the boys since it is the daughter that will continue the family blood line. Once the father resigns or is killed, the daughter will take his place and choose a Tom to be her mate and to run the pride in her place. This process continues until a daughter isn't born and the family pride is exstinct due to the lack of the female. The males may lead the prides, but its the females that keep them alive, without a female there is no pride.

basic rank details;
Code: Select all
Lead Stallion:
The lead stallion of a herd of mares is the protector and mate to all the mares in his herd. He doesn't really 'control' the mares, he simply suggests things to them, it's the lead mare's job to control the herd, the stallion is only their protector. The stallion in a herd is responsible for chasing off bachelor stallions and scaring away any dangers such as wolves or mountian lions. The stallion is also the sire to all the foals in his herd, that is unless the mares he rounds up were already covered by a different stallion. Stallions have been seen killing off any foals born by his mares that aren't his, but that is rare and only the highly aggressive and controling stallions do such things.

Lead Mare:
This mare is the top-dog so to speak. She is the leader of the herd and decides were the herd grazes, when they go to water, and where to run if there's danger. She settles all desputes within the herd, her word is law. She is more in charge than the lead stallion is. This mare tends to be very dominant, sometimes more so than the lead stallion, but that's only rarely, the stallions like to be the more dominant ones. The lead mare is the first to eat, drink, birth, and be covered when in heat.

Mares:
They are the main component of the herd, with out them, there is no herd. Normally, the first mare to join is the most dominant and the rankings lower as more mares join. The newest mares are usually the lower ranking members. It is up to the mares of the herd to deside who their lead mare is, the stallion just agrees to their decision. The mare's instincts are to group together with other mares and have a strong stallion to protect them. Lone mares don't last long in the wild, they are either snaked away by stallions or killed by predators. Mares must be in herds inorder to survive the winter's harsh weather.

Foals:
They are obviously the offspring of the mares and the lead stallion, but it is very common for a mare to be snaked away from her stallion and into a different herd while pregnant with her past stallion's foal. The foals are born around spring or early summer, their mothers go back into heat about a week after their births. All foals are kicked from their herds at age 2 or 3 by either their mother or the stallion to prevent inbreeding. The colts tend to join up and start bachelor bands while the fillies are snaked away by stallions once they start their first heat.

Bachelors:
Bachelors are stallions that have been kicked from their family herds by either their mothers or the lead stallion. Their age can range from 2 years to nearly 15 years. Stallions normally are too young and weak to start a herd before the age of 4 and after the age of 10 they become weaker and too old to do much protecting and their mares will leave them for better stallions, forcing them back into the life of a bachelor. When stallions are about 4-5 years old, they are in their prime and ready for a herd. Bachelors will challenge band stallions for their mares, or they will sneak in and snake them away when the band stallion's back is turned. Bachelors will even follow pregnant mares and wait for them to foal and then take the mare away with her newborn, starting his herd the easier way, but band stallions will attack a bachelor if he sees then hanging around his mares.

detailed info;
Code: Select all
■ a herd of horses is also known as a band or a harem; a band consists of 2-20 mares, their foals/yearlings, and a single stallion. often times younger bachelors will shadow a larger herd, either just to observe and learn, or to try an mate with/steal mares from the stallion when he is not looking. some stallions will allow younger males to shadow their herds, though if they are caught trying to mate/steal any of his mares they will be chased off.

■ the dominant stallion is not actually in control of the herd, contrary to popular belief. he does not lead the herd to new locations, and he does not control the mares' within his herd. the dominant stallions' job is to protect the herd; to keep them away from predators, humans, and rival stallions. if danger arises he may try to attack a predator or lone human, though if it is, say, a group of wolves or a group of humans/much older stallion, he will attempt to snake the herd away from danger. a band stallion breeds with all his mares, and chases out any colts by the age of two-three, and any fillies by their first heat cycle to prevent inbreeding. a stallion will rarely accept another stallions' colts; he will often kill the colt or chase it away from his herd, however fillies will be seen as an investment, for when they grow they can produce him foals as well. once colts are about a year old, their father will begin to show them how to fight and snake, though ultimately have little time and emotions to spare for any of their foals. when the lead mare decides to move the herd, the dominant stallion will sweep around the sides and back of the herd in a constant motion, keeping the mares and foals in a tight group behind the lead mare as they move. if a dominant stallion is challenged by another stallion, there will be a short fight in which both males will scream, bite, and kick at each other, however they don't cause major injuries to one another- they will draw blood perhaps, but no really bad wounds. after a few minutes, one stallion will give up, and the loser will forfeit his entire herd, giving it to the winning stallion. during winter, stallions' are calmer, saving energy to look for food and such. they generally ignore each other, letting rival stallions and herds go in peace, however they will fight over the better grazing locations and un-frozen water sources.

■ the lead mare. the dominant mare. she is the boss- what she says goes, it is her herd. the lead mare is never just the stallions' favorite- the lead mare is the oldest, wisest, and most dominant mare in the herd. the dominant mare takes the herd to new meadows and water sources, takes lead during any kind of movement- be it running from danger or just moving to new grazing locations. she is the most respected horse out of the herd, and gets what she wants when she wants. the lead mare position is claimed through establishing a dominance hierarchy - through challenging the other mares and making yourself lead. mares do not get violent, however. their fights do not last very long- they nip and squeal at each other until, after a short time, one backs down. usually the younger horse. if another mare, foal, or yearling in the herd is being annoying/troublesome/disrespectful, the lead mare will chase said horse out of the herd. they will have to linger on the edge of the herd until the lead mare decides to them back in, and if she does not, they will be snaked away by the lead. the stallion has no say in this- if the lead decides to remove a horse from the herd, he must let her. the lead mare may also snake the stallion himself out of the herd if he is incapable, inexperienced, cocky, or disrespectful- he will not be allowed back into the herd unless the lead mare decides to bring him back. if she does not, the lead mare will chase the stallion away and take the herd to find a new stallion by calling out to nearby stallions. the band stallion may try to fight for his herd back, but if he loses, that's that. take note, when a lead mare is decided, most of the herd almost act like sheep, they follow their leader, they do not question her, if she wants to run them all off a cliff, they will all run off a cliff with her, that is the loyalty and respect of a horse, they obey their lead without question. (a mare won't run her herd of a cliff just to clear that up... unless they are being chased and the cliff is the only escape.. horses often loose their brain when being chased)

■ snaking. mares do not get upset just because a stallion snaked them; they may be a bit grumpy about being disturbed in such a manner, but will calm down quickly. the act of snaking is when a horse lowers their head and neck, pinning their ears back, and nips at another horses' heels/haunches/back legs to drive them in the direction they want the horse to go. when stallions snake mares into their herds, the mare may protest and run for a short time, but unless the stallion is six years or younger, will give up rather quickly and go where the stallion directs.

■ a bachelor band is a group of stallions without any mares; they group up to survive winter, and the older stallions of the bunch will often help teach the younger stallions to fight/snake/keep a herd. a bachelor band works much like a normal herd- there is a stallion who is older than the rest who leads the bunch, and the rest just follow as if he were their lead mare.

■ the mare reproductive cycle is pretty straight forward- once pregnant, a mare will carry her foal for 11 months, until full-term, then depart from the herd to give birth. the herd will wait for her to return, generally it only takes a few hours. normally just one foal is born; twins are rare, and if twins are born, it is unlikely that all three horses will survive. mares allow their foals to nurse for up to a year, though generally wean them at about six months.

■ the estrous cycle - 'heat', occurs roughly every 20-22 days, and lasts for just a few days, at which point they cycle through four stages of heat. during winter, mares do not go into heat at all. after giving birth, a mare will go back into her heat cycle one to two weeks after the birth, allowing her to be covered again.
stage one - the mare is uninterested and probably won't allow a stallion to cover her, though will probably still join a herd without much trouble.
stage two - the mare is still pretty uninterested and probably won't breed, though will not protest as much to joining a herd.
stage three - the mare is growing interested in the stallion, and will probably allow him to cover her. she will a join a herd without trouble.
stage four - the mare is very interested in the stallion, and will always accept being covered, no matter who the stallion is, even if it isn't her band stallion. she is desperate.

■ oftentimes a group of young bachelors will gang up on a band stallion and attempt to steal his herd- if they succeed, which yes can happen, the stallions will fight among themselves until just one is left, and that stallion with become the new dominant stallion. the others stallions may decide to trail the herd to try again. if the lead mare does not like the wining stallion[she thinks he is too young/cocky/rude, ect.] she will chase him out and call for an older stallion to come and take the herd.

basic seasonal;
Code: Select all
          Spring -
Mares are having their foals and are going back into heat, the stallions are more aggressive, mating with their mares and snaking them from other herds to try and better their own. There are many fights going on at this time and it is dangerous for foals to be wondering around without their mothers.

          Summer -
It is hot and a few mares are in heat, stallions still try to add more horses to their herd even though the mares might not be in heat. Foals are growing and becoming stronger, they are now able to travel longer distances, this is perfect timing for the foals to learn endurance, the herds will be on the move in the coming Autumn.

          Autumn -
It grows cooler and mares are rarely ever in heat. Stallion's are starting to move to the valley. The lower in the mountains they are, the better their chances are of finding food and suitable shelter from the snow and winds. Foals must be carefully watched when the snows start, many will die when Winter arrives.

          Winter -
It is cold and snow is deep in some areas, making it hard to move. Food is scarce and hard to find and some foals are born but might not be able to survive the cold. Older foals from the previous spring are just barely strong enough to survive the harshness of Winter, but many will still die.

basic plot ideas;
Code: Select all
Stallions:
Bachelors → Having been kicked out of your old herd, you were out on your own with no protection from the elements or predators that stalk lone horses. You find a small band of bachelor stallions that will offer protection and safety, will you join this band of stallions or go and fight the world alone?

Lead Herd Stallions → Before you were a bachelor stallion due to having been kicked out of your old herd, but now you are a lead stallion of a herd of mares and your offspring. You must fight off other stallions to keep your mares and get new ones, and you must also kick out your offspring after they were weaned from their mothers, no one likes interbreeding.

Mares:
Lone Mares → You too have been kicked from your old herd by either you mother or father, or you could have just arrived in the Valley and have yet to find a suitable herd. Whichever storyline you go with, you don't have a herd to fit in with, but don't worry you will find a stallion that fits you. Once in a herd, you will become a Herd Mare. There is now a new mare herd that lone mares can join if they are lonely and want a herd, but doesn't want the drama of the stallions. You can join this herd, or be herded into a stallion's band, or you can even stay alone in the valley.

Herd Mares → Either you have just arrived in the herd, or you have been in the same herd for a while now, it doesn't really matter though, herds provide protection and safety. Only one mare will become a Lead Herd Mare, and that mare will be the one that is first to breed and birth foals, and they are responsible for moving the herd to good grazing grounds.

Foals:
You have been born into a herd or left out to fend for yourself to become a herd mare or stallion, or to become a bachelor stallion, thankfully there is now a herd full of just mares and foals that you can join, these mares will help you grow and stay safe until you are full grown and ready to leave, or you can stay, but only if your a mare, colts that are mature will be kicked out. Beware herd foals, your turn to be kicked out will come sooner or later.

Becoming the leader (Matron) of a Thunderbird flight is very different from the other groups. The flights are fully Matriarchal, meaning females rule and males are left to follow. The Matron is the over all leader of the flight, similiar to the Alpha, and is ALWAYS a female. The Matron is normally an older female with vast experience and knowledge, the mother of almost all of the members of the flight. There is the Matron who leads the flight, the Crone who is the past leader and mother of the Matron (if still alive she helps teach others), and there is the Maid who is the eldest daughter of the Matron and will lead once the Matron either dies or resigns. The males in the flight are there to fight and breed with the other females to keep their numbers strong. Only the females in the royal blood-lines will lead the flight, there are other females in the flight, but they are not to lead the flight in the least bit, they are just members of the flight.
