Many people have asked me to give advice on how to create a popular role-play that is realistic, or fantasy based. Well, there are defiantly some basic points you must take in mind for. I will go over a few points, and hopefully, your role-play will pick up pace. c:
now, Please take in mind that this is ONLY a guide, not a law book, you can make your role-plays ANYWAY you'd like, and whatever you want, however, Im just showing you a way to make an absolutely eye-catching role-play, and a believable one.

CREATING A TITLE
Creating a title may be a hard, and a tiresome job...even for me. Sometimes, i sit for hours and make a list of random titles, for e.g.:
Death Valley
The mistaken soul
Mind wonders
Vapour rising
Shallow End,etc,etc.
Now, you may have noticed how none of my titles that I randomly created above have anything to do with my Role Play, or not even make any sense at all. You know why I did that? To catch one's attention. If you catch someone's attention with your title, they will click on your role play and check it out. If you achieve a good role-play title, it is very likely that your role play will be more popular then another role play that's named "the east side pack" the title is plain, has no mystery to it, and doesn't attract attention. If I was looking for a rp to join, it is very likely that I would skip that rp topic and find one with a cool and mysterious title that either
A) reveals something about the plot
B) creates a mysterious edge.
now, think about it.The same applies to borrowing a book. Say, you were going to the Library, and decided to check out some books. Would you rather pick a title that said "Green Toads" or a book on the same subject that said "Floppy Greenies"?
So, to sum up, if you have a good eye-catching title, your role-play will be likely to become successful. When making a title, try to stay away from a single word unless it is a verb or adjective, for example a title " ESCAPE" has effective use of the one word solution, whereas a title " SCHOOL" does not, for it is a noun.
INTRODUCING THE PLOT
introducing the plot line in a role play is the most important factor in creating a role play.
The plot is what drives a person to create a form for your role-play. The plot follows after the title, because remember, the title is what attracts ones attention while the plot is the lock to that person's decision to join or not.
The plot should state the trouble, or the dangers the chars are facing, and the plot should include a brief history, and introduce the antagonist, or the main cause of the misery..etc.
An example of a bad plot would be:
The vampires of the Northern woods are the last vampire in the world, however being a vampire isn't easy, there are yet many challenges to overcome. Will you-a new vampire join their gang, or stay on your own and who knows what fate will do to you?
The above isn't the greatest example for a bad plot, however the only one that my brain can fish out at the moment. This plot doesn't state the troubles the 'vampire gang' is going through. It doesn't state anything (except fate and natural hazards) that could affect the well beings of the 'vampire gang'
however, here is a revised version of the above-same role-play idea however the plot is revised.
A blood curling scream fills the air-and your victim falls short, limp. what have i just done?!you think as a trickle of blood oozes down from the side of your lips. what am i...?You say softly glancing down at your victim, a bite mark on their neck.
"A Vampire." Someone form being you says. You turn around, meeting the eyes of a handsome stranger.
however, the above example isn't the best, and below i have another example, which is much longer, but however a better example as to a good plot and a bad plot.
Bad plot:
We are wolves, and we are one. The wilderness pack has been living in the wild for a long time, facing many threats and dangers-the pack is led by a handsome male wolf by the name of Lukus. Will you join this pack as a wolf? Or will you join as an enemy?
now, taking the same pollen, and making it more emotional, and more interesting:
Good Plot:
Alone, they say. ..In a world of pure isolation... Deprived from joy, where every colour we see is grey. There is nothing left. Homes destroyed, valleys collided, and mountains gone. Gone away...carried away. But where? Where did everything go? Its a strange world out there now. Mother nature has ripped us clean of our resources. Why you ask? Some say it is a challenge to see if we can accumulate enough strength to overcome it. Others say its a death sentence. But do you really believe that everything is gone? That life's pure meaning is to live, and not to be thankful for life? Is it true that mother nature has deprived us from everything? Love, fortune, and reality..ripped away from our eyes? Because somewhere within you, a soul stirs. It may be the passageway to happiness, it may not. It may lead you to the bright colours of love, or it may lead you to the sorrows of death and misery. But will you risk it? All it takes to find out...is ONE MORE STEP.
The tips i use for a good plot are these below:
~ Follow along with the mood of the role play
~ End in a provoking question, nothing like, "will you join?"
~ Set the mood and create an atmosphere with the plot immediately.
~ Paradoxes are a good idea to keep in mind when creating a plot, you don't need them, but they do make it more interesting to read.
eg. A Paradox is something that has multiple interpretations of, such as saying "All animals are equal, however some are more equal than others" That was a paradox, quoted from the book Animal Farm. It is stating 2 different meanings, that both alone is a statement, however when put together doesn't make sense.
Also, keep in mind of good use of words, and vocabulary. People want to join a well made role-play, not one that can't spell 'Alfa" correctly, or one that never puts periods, and anything like that. It is good idea to keep in mind of the grammar and sentence structure you use.
RANKINGS/STATS OF A ROLEPLAY
Now, These come after the plot in importance. These mostly direct to animal role plays, and realistic ones.
With these, there are a lot of tricks to keep in mind to keep a role-play active and alive. For starters, you should know the rankings/stats of the topic you will be creating your role-plays on. For example, if it was a wolf rp that you were creating, you SHOULD KNOW the rankings of a wolf pack to avoid arguments further on.
Ranks of a wolf pack:
(from highest in power-lowest)
Alpha male, Alpha female, Beta, Delta, Leads,Hunters/fighters,scouts, Den mothers/pups, Omegas.
You should keep in mind that a fox pack is usually referred to as a skulk.
Foxes don't have an 'Alpga" those are referred to the leaders of mainly wolf packs, however yes foxes do have leaders, and a deputy or a Beta to follow the leader.
In a Lion Rp, PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE YOUR RANKS WITH THOSE OF THE WOLF PACK! A King Lion is NOT, i repeat, NOT a Alpha. They are the kings or the queens of the pride, for e.g.. Samba the lion KING
King, Queen, Princess/Prince(The King and queen's cub) Warriors, hunters.
Now, A lion party is called a PRIDE, not a pack.
Usually, a lion pride consists of one dominant male (the king), his mate (the queen) and the followers which are USUALLY females.
Now, a horse role-play functions differently, with horses theres usually a lot of frolicking between mares and stallions. Each stallion has their own herd, which is females, and the stallion mates with all of them-Its a natural thing, not sexual harassment...(if you were thinking that, be ashamed of yourself for thinking of such things, mating is a beautiful thing.)
If you are creating a horse role-play, make sure you KNOW SOMETHING about the herds of horses, and how they function. A stallion can steal a mare from another stallion, and things such as.
Lead Stallion, Lead Mare, Mares
