You'd be Surprised! - A Guide to Writing WoF Dragons

Hello all!
I'm Distruction, and I am a general roleplayer here. I come on daily.
I do enjoy dragon RPs, but HTTYD, DRoP, and basic dragon rider RPs aren't my thing. It's Wings of Fire ones that I always look for.

Wings of Fire is a series of books published by Scholastic in which a group of dragonets must stop a war.

Many people roleplay their OCs here, but I see many, many flaws.
I made this guide to fix those flaws.

----

You may be asking me, "What do you know about Wings of Fire?"
I'll tell you: I've read all the books, and once I finish Rebel Nation, I'll pick up my copy of Moon Rising.

I remember so much about the species, and apparently.. others don't.

Anyway, the guide.

ICEWINGS

- White is not a natural color to IceWings.
- White is nOT A NATURAL COLOR TO ICEWINGS.
- WHITE IS NOT A NATURAL COLOR TO ICEWINGS.

Many people have white-colored IceWing OCs. I have one myself, Hypothermia.
But as most white-colored dragons here in the world of WoF are, they're really rare. Even in these snowy dragons.
I constantly point this out while writing Hypothermia.

IceWings generally have pale blue or silvery colors. White would probably be the result of a recessive gene, thus making it rarer. Thanks to the series, I know for a fact white is slowly disappearing from the gene pool for IceWings.

- Their tails are whip-thin and have spikes.

Surely those things could be used as weapons!
I bet they'd hurt.

Although many IceWings would use their icy breath as their primary defense, I'd bet their tails would be their secondary.

RAINWINGS

Image

- RainWings change color, mainly according to mood.

They are literally mood rings. Giant, winged, reptilian, venom-spitting mood rings.
Many people have a 'set color' for their RainWing OC and think that they never change out of it. NO. BAD MOVE.
Sure, there's the 'default' color of Glory, seen on the cover of The Hidden Kingdom.

Your RainWing can have a 'preferred' color, like Glory's on the cover, and Jambu is normally told as being shades of pink. But they do change color constantly.

Colors can fade or spot around, because we've heard Glory get a specific color dotted about, typically when she tries to hide an emotion.

RainWings have no set color.

- RainWings can 'feel' themselves changing colors.

This is also told via Glory, saying she could feel her scales shifting colors.

This could be taken literally or just them knowing they're feeling a new emotion.
