has an established routine for his life that
he doesn't like messing up—not the type to
make impulsive decisions, he likes to think

he also loves people. he seems introverted
upon first meeting, but he's actually not.
duran thrives in conversation with people
he's comfortable around. he's always been
artistic, and is proud of being outside of the
'norm' with his music and literature taste.

his life. duran is an intent and caring listener,

nicknamed "the bear", or often just "bear",
he gained this reputation partially
because his name sounds an awful lot
like bear, but also because at age
thirteen he killed a rabid bear that
had been murdering villagers, and
evading or killing all those who tried
to hunt it. he is said to have arrived
on the foot of the castle gates, soaked
in blood with the head of the bear on a
stick. he was put into training and is now
a member of the royal guard. despite this,
he longs to see the heat of battle, and is
somewhat bored by his duties. secretly,
he engages in duels and fights whenever
he can, and many of the villagers will
illegally bet on these fights.
bear can be judgemental, and views public
displays of emotion as a sign of weakness.
when he really cares about someone, he
expresses this by becoming very protective
of them—even if he isn't always nice to them,
if anyone messes with someone he loves,
he'll won't hesitate to attack. he's horrible
at vocalizing the way he feels, so he shows

layne, once you get to know him, has a personality
that contradicts itself. he's intensely private,
when it comes to anything emotional or personal,
but he's also not shy, and has a great sense of
humor. layne doesn't have trouble talking to
new people, but you could be "friends" with him
for years and realize you know no more about
him than he allows you to. he's sarcastic, and
charismatic; by being a witty thinker and an
intelligent guy, he is able to hide his fear of
trusting others, and fear of emotional vulnerability.
layne doesn't have space in his heart to deeply
care about a lot of people, but if he does truly
care about someone, he's intensely loyal to
them. layne's mistrust of others stems from his
unstable childhood. he was raised by his uncle,
who he saw as a father, but when his uncle could
no longer afford to take care of layne, he kicked
him out to the streets at just 12 years old. layne
had to learn to fend for himself, and from then
on it became hard for him to trust anyone at all.
he learned how to defend himself, and he's never
one to back down from a fight, though he'll certainly
try to talk his way out of one first. his wit is his
greatest tool, he can lean back, close his eyes,

but you'll never hear him called anything but
hutch. his full name is too heavy, and if there's
anything to know about hutch, it's that he's a
free spirit. staying in one place? picking a
career? sticking with one person? you won't
find hutch doing any of that. he doesn't love
casually—things or people. instead, he'll be
intensely interested in someone or something,
and then ditch it when he gets bored, which is
often. he's restless, in a word. even though
hutch is really smart, his restless nature didn't
set him up well for school, and hutch didn't
finish highschool. he's disappeared to backpack
across the country multiple times, though he's
